4:00. >> and we start frst at 4:00 with a live look at storm team 4 radar. it's already been a busy weather day, folks. i'm leon harris. >> and i'm wendy rieger. tornado warnings in the last hour. severe thunderstorm warnings and more to come tonig. >> stor already wreaking havoc out there, so let's take you to some live pictures here. this is i-270 at clarksburg road. a complete stop there because of downed wire. >> wre going to get an update from the live desk on thissi tuation in just a moment, but, first, let's head to the storm team for our coverage. doug? >> amelia and i have been watching the storms over the past couple of hours and watchingthat move ough, that storm there, you saw the damage there that has caused 270 to be completely shut down now. we saw a lot of damage coming in from that storm as it made its way through parts of frederick county, west virginia and all he way up towards the pennsylvania border now. >> we think we're just getting started. this is round one. we'll have more storms moving in

tonight and these storms could also be strong to severe. >> if you did not see the storms, you have a chance of seeing the stronger severe weather. >> you can see what's going on. we've got everybodyere in pink. that's a severe hunderstorm watch until 10:00 tonight for the entire region. now the areas that have already seen it. look at the line, boom. l thatne still has tornado warnings to the north of galtimore, and our region right now, not dealinith a lot. we've got some very heavy rain right now up along 270. that's where everybody is shut down right now, and then back to the west. we've been watching some very heavy rai back towards clark county and you may see minor areas of flash flooding so watch ere.t a thunderstorm warning in effect 4or anne arundel county continuing until :15 and look at the rest of the area. severe thunderstorm watch effect from richmond all the way up to new york and parts of new england. look at all the rain to come,gu . not done just yet. a flash flood watch also in effect until 6:00 a.m. mlot going on.

self-defense, the judge ordered him held without bond, and this is just one of the incidents that wrapped up into an extremely violent weekend. four o days violence, four days of since thursday seven people have been murdered in the district including 11-year-old karon. bro saturday police charged 29-year-old tony mclamb with killing the boy. according to charging documents mclamb told police he was trying to settle disputes between neighborhood kids, including hif girriend's children and the victim and that he had had t gun because his brother had recently been h can't recall such a violent four days. >> in recent memory i don't, so this is particularly disturbing to ha this many homicides over the course of the weekend. >> reporter: today newsham and mayor muriel bowrleaded with residents to turn in anyone who has an illegal gun, even if it means sending a loved one to jail.

>> it's better to be arrested for having a gun thanr child.ng a call us. >> reporter: newsham took aim at d.c.'s gun laws and prosecutors today pointing out that most of the suspects arrested for murder had previously bee aested for gun possession. >> collectively we need to do a better job as a criminal justice stem in holding those folks accountae the first time. once somebody is killed they are dead forever. > newsham and bowser pointed to the public'shelp in arresting the suspect in the killing of 11-year-old karon brown. >> it shouldn't take tth d of an 11-year-old for people to come forward. >> reporter: according to courtm docents, the suspect admitted to police that he fired his gun into the car, but he said it was self-defense and that he didn't know the boy was inside of the car. prosecutors also said t that defendant voluntarily confessed to the shooting, but, again, he said that he wasn't trying to shoot the young boy, that in self-defense.

he thought the driver of the car had a gun, but when police asked him to produce his gun he refused. they said he had a 14-year-old boy try to sell the gun on the street the day after the murder. police have now recovered that gun. that's the very latest here at avc. superior court. mark segr, news 4. >> thank you, mark. let's continue our team coverage now with news 4's derrick ward live at d.c. police headquarters. >> derrick, we understand that you have some new information on a quadruple shooting over the weekend. eell us about it. >> reporter: w, indeed, we do have some new video that i don't think has been seen before, and this all gets at this violent weekend that we had and how police officials tried to deal with what happened this weekend. take a look and take a listen. [ gunfire ] reporter: now that's a barrage of gunfire. you can actually hear it. a few seconds later you see on o that videwo people running through an alley. now, this was all captured on a

ome surveillance system in the area of the brentwood recreation center. four people we uerot otse id cameras, too, but they didn't serve as a deterrence to this violence, and there are some fears as we hear from thetmayor t this violence could flare up again. take a look. >> we have four young people shot at and they are in my view in danger of being shot at again or doing smeshooting, okay? and so we have asked for them to be targeted for intensive services, and if they are willing, we thinkthat wean get them out of the cycle of violence that they are involved in. >> reporter: now all of the victims, all of those people who were shot, are expected to recover, but, again, it is a deadly seikaly or a violent cycle where officials are worried about. they want to get in there and intervene with someto services stop that cycle of violence before it gets any worse. we'll have more on these stories coming up later on news 4.t

lines. 270 still shut down right now in both directions right along 270 and the clarksburg area.s it'ing to be a messl very heaar. mt. airy when we saw damage and other storms developing in montgomery county here. this was the area hit the o hardest out trds frederick and leesburg and bluemont. there's the one storm movingut o more severe storms down around roanoke and this whole line has to move our way. that's why we're pecting more storms. that's why the severe thunderstorm watching goes until sock tonight. now, where we did see the rain, lo at these numbers. 93 right now in norton. 77 in leesburg and 73 in artinsburg and 94 in quantico and 94 over towards anndpolis. hot aumid where you haven't seen the storms. we could see more storms tonight. that's why odere's a flash flo in effect until 6:00 a.m. tomorrow.
