6:44 pm
access to? >> no. but we didn't expect to because robert mueller said in no uncertain terms a couple of months agoteand repead before gis hearing that he was not going to beyond what has already been public. and that is his 480-page report. democrats were hoping that this report, that the hearing would n th in e the movie to the book. at it would make it come alive. and it started out that way. with a brief q&a with jerry nadler. but then as the democrats tried to get mueller to go nee into details about the second part of rt. re about potentialct obstrun actions by the president, the mueller would not read into that. he would not read sections outh ofreport. he repeatedly said no or yes or correct. he did not get into the game of trying to create a narrative or narrate his own report or tell his own story.
6:45 pm
in that sense, i don't think it's what the democrats were anticipating. he purpose phed back against the republican claims that his staff is made up of clinton loyalists. he said in his 25 years of law enforcement he's never asked ed somebody who for him about their political affilations, heha said ts not how it's done. >> he's done this a number of times before. i think i heard the number 79 times he's testified before congress in one form or another. and one of the things that was dgetting whisperebout because he was asking for, the questions to be repeated. he was asking for citations and me said he seemed to be a little bit off his game. he seemed to be a little slower. what do you read into that? >> i think he was a little off his game and a little slower. he, last tesfied before the senate before congrsss six y ago. just as he was leaving the fbi directorship. he's going to turn 75 in two weeks. older now, sometimes seemed a little unsure of himself.
6:46 pm
the reason is he didn't watt to be at the hearing. hen appeared because he was subpoenaed. he didn't want to go beyond what his report said. he said if he was asked to testify he would say my report is my testimony. aso you put of those things together and i think that's the reason for it. >> he never lost his temer in all of those hours of questioning. some of the same queions asked over and over. >> well if he did, he didn't show it. >> he kept it on thede insi >> thank you, pete. you can see more of pete's reporting tonbcht on nnews "nightly news." to video of a waterspout on chesapeake bay. greg shelton sent us this video about 24o. hours ag people on the bay reported seeing several waterspouts last night. we don't see them every day.hi but t is the time of year they tend tohow up on the bay. what's going on there, doug?
