he gave abc 13 a copy. in the warrant.. lpd detective c-t davis writes.. 28-year-old jonathan warner attacked security officer wes gillespie in the dillard building. warner was able to take gillespie's taser.. fired it.. and nearly hit another officer. detective davis writes.. after assaulting an officer with the discharged taser.. warner ran through the center.. and that's when gillespie opened fire and shot him several times. it's that part that warner's attorney says.. proves the officer used excessive force. pattie tight at last check, centra is still defering all questions to lynchburg police.. but says it is fully cooperating with the investigation. 3whit breaking news in that weeks-long standoff on federal land in oregon. investigators made several arrests overnight.. following a deadly confrontation between militia members and the fbi. pattie the confrontation happening during a traffic stop outside the occupied wildlife refuge. the group's leader is now in custody. and their spokesman.. is dead. reena ninan has the latest....

passed the measure on monday. now county officials tell abc-13.. the prohibition on concealed weapons was outdated. newly-appointed county attorney patrick skelley says.. it was a "logical progression" to allow workers to bring a weapon to work. documents show.. they created fake i-ds during their undercover investigation. former district judge charles baird says.. the offense is serious. because the controversial videos sparked national outrage, as well as state and federal investigations. the videos even prompted some states to attempt to defund planned parenthood."baird: because of the explosion from the videos has been so large that i would think this is not a case that they could ever sweep under the rug. that this has to be actively prosecuted"pattie tight in a statement, dale-den said.. their actions are protected under the 1st amendment. an online petition pushing to drop the charges already has more than 30-thousand signatures. 3 3pattie tight and liberty counsel is defending meritt in her criminal charges. in a press release.. the group writes.. the jury was supposed to investigate planned parenthood but is now charging the whistleblowers. liberty counsel chairman mat staver says.. it will defend meritt against the quote, "efforts to silence her." 3whit tight ferrum college's first female

jennifer braaten announced yesterday that she is going to retire in the summer. braaten is ferrum's 10th president and has been president since 2002. the chairman of ferrum's board of trustees says braatan has been dealing with family health issues.. and she feels like it's her obligation right now to be with family. the board is forming a search committee to find the next president. 3pattie tight bedford county now has a new county administrator.. supervisors have voted to hire carl boggess permanently. he's the county attorney who's taken on the role of interim administrator as well, since mark reeter left the post at the end of last april. the board also appointed patrick skelly as the county attorney. skelly has serves as senior assistant county attorney since may 2009. 3whit and there has been a lot of talk about the new middle school in bedford county as supervisors hash out a new budget. supervisors have to decide whether to allocate more funds toward the new middle school.. or have the schools pare down their plan. supervisors had allocated 38 million dollars.. but the school system just

dollar price tag. following last night's meeting, supervisors will vote on a final budget february 8th. crews will break ground on the new middle school in november. 3pattie tight food, gas, music and medicine. those were the top needs named for the downtown area-in an online survey taken last fall. lynch's landing conducted the survey along with several other groups. nearly 700 residents took part in the survey-which revealed that most residents living downtown are young, educated, and predominantly white. 75 percent of them have a college or graduate level degree. lynch's landing president linda jones says many people who don't live downtown also took part in the survey. linda jones, lynch's landing," the interesting thing about the results is that the non-residents who responded pretty much say we need the same things that the residents say we need. number one of course, is a grocery store. fortunately, there is a move afoot to establish the grass roots local market. but a live music venue, a dry cleaners, more bars-i think

degree murder in the death of 89-year-old james payne. investigators say spinner was looking for money when he killed payne inside his own home in 2012. the trial was originally scheduled to start on monday, but was moved to today because of the weather. the judge is sick, so it has now been moved to tomorrow. 3pattie tight authorities say a homeless woman threw a piece of concrete through a window at the general assembly. what we know right now.. 51-year-old sherri finley is charged with felony vandalism. police say the homeless woman was trying to get arrested intentionally to have a place to stay for the night. she is also charged with assault after punching a virginia commonwealth university student moments before throwing the concrete. no one was seriously injured. 3whit tight investigators say a fire that left 70 thousand dollars in damage to a home in roanoke was caused by an electrical problem. crews say the fire broke out around 7:15 yesterday morning in the 35-hundred block of ventnor road south east. there was one person home at the time. he tried to put

charges against the driver are pending. 3 3whit tight imagine being stuck in your car - in the snow - for an entire weekend. that's what happened to one woman in maryland. the maryland national guard rescued the woman monday night.. who had been trapped in her snow-covered car since friday. their humvee was able to go down the unplowed road to get her after someone called for help.maj. luis gurri/md national guard - "it was located on a side street that hadn't been plowed so the humvee was able to get to the vehicle and the soldiers were able to get her out."whit the woman was conscious and uninjured when she was rescued. there's no word on how she ended up getting stuck. 3 3pattie talk about a frightening ride...take a look at what happened to angel collinson as she was skiing down a mountain in alaska. she fell more than a thousand feet while filming a ski documentary. amazingly, she managed to get out okay. she told good morning

just trying to protect her head as she was falling. 3whit tight fire and rescue crews really had work cut out for them after a cow fell through the ice at a pond in bedford county. crews responded to the spring lake stockyard around 4 p.m yesterday. they say the cow had walked onto the iced-over pond.. and fell in. two employees in a canoe were holding its head above water. two special operation command members dressed in ice suits.. went onto the ice.. and were able to get a rope around the cow's neck. they pulled the cow to shore. unfortunately, crews say the episode was too stressful for the cow.. and it later passed away. 3pattie tight a little snow tip for you this morning... now that most of us have been able to dig our cars out of the snow, mechanics say it's time to switch our focus. while the salt is great at melting snow, if you're not careful it can cause your car to rust. so, make sure to get a car wash at least every other week until the snow and salt is gone. and don't forget to ask for an undercarriage wash to get salt from underneath the car.

has gone viral on social media.. big time. a dog's bathroom break turned into her big break as she unknowingly finished a half-marathon. last week, lu-divine the bloodhound, turned up at the starting line of this half-marathon in alabama. she trotted along with runners for the entire 13 point 1 miles. she competed without a human or a leash..and finished in 7th place. her owner..who is not a runner..didn't even know about her dog's new found fame until a friend called and filled her in.a co-worker text me and said your dog just came in 7th place. everyone was going crazy.whit lu-divine was presented with a finisher's medal for her accomplishment. she then went home.. and took a long nap.
