this is nicole lavel. she disappeared from her apartment some time between midnight and 7:00 this morning. anne anne talked to the girl's mom and has the very latest on that search live in roanoke. >> reporter: daner, this is a really bad situation. it seems the whole town is on alert keeping their eyes peeled for the 13-year-old. here is one big concern, when nicole was 10 months old she had a liver transplant and has to take anti-rejection meds twice a day. the last time she took one was last night and she already missed a dose. her mom didn't want to go on camera but says she thinks lavel climbed out of her bedlavel climbed out of her bedroom window. she took water bottles and her minion blanket and not her medicine. >> at this point we still don't know if it is a runaway situation or if there is foul play involved. we are asking for anyone with information to please contact us with anything that you

[inaudible] >> reporter: shawn moss was shot in cold blood by this man, 24-year-old dominic moss. >> father, we forgive those that caused this. >> reporter: prosecutor chuck thalmey said the conflict involved a long conflict with his brother. dominic moss, one was good arizona the other. >> that defendant is extremely dangerous. >> reporter: moss ambushed shawn on 11th and polk street in august of 2014. shawn put his hands up and that is when moss open fired. >> shot him while he was standing up and stood over top of him after he fell. >> reporter: the details of this violent murder brought shawn moss's family to tears in

at one point, shawn moss's mother took the stand to say not only did she lose a son but a 13-year-old boy lost his father. >> he has a son that is going to grow up without a father. >> reporter: moss apologized to shawn moss's family saying he, too, is a father and now claims to be a changed man, but judge patrick yates said in court that he believes if moss had the opportunity, he would kill again. >> and the judge announced his sentence, he just exploded and started making threats to others in the court room including myself. >> reporter: his last words was if aid gun right now i would shoot that expletive in the face. >> reporter: very emotional day in court. while dominic moss was on the run he got money, rides and a place to stay from his three different girlfriends. under his plea agreement, the commonwealth district attorney agreed to drop the charges

4-hundred block of hughes street in danville. they just finished doing the electrical work and that's when the storm hit. it has put construction on delay because volunteers couldn't leave their homes. the halt on construction caused a chain reaction- delaying other projects in the house.karen sgrinia, "we're in the process of working out hvac and plumbing can't start until the hvac is done. the hvac is being done by an hvac class at dcc, so when they're closed or delayed for snow, then that doesn't get done and therefore the plumbing part gets backed up."tola habitat for 3 humanity says the snow delayed the project a few days and says they will delay the project just a few days and they hope to have the house ready for the family by mid spring. live in danville, tola adamson, abc 13 news. >> danner: all right, thank you, tola. as we continue to get those

them any time at wset.com. remember we only accept church closings for wednesday and sunday services. the students in bedford county may have been back in school today, but at least they were nice and toasty at liberty high school. crews took advantage of the snow days to fix the hvac systems. high winds knocked over a power pole a couple of weeks ago leadpole a couple of weeks ago leading to that damage. this is video from the day we visited when teachers and students had to bundle up in a small number of the classrooms. an attorney for a transgender student in virginia wants an appeals court to appeal its client right to use the boy's bathroom in school. gavin grim's attorney made arguments before a three-judge federal panel. grim was born female and identifies as male. the gloucester county school board barred grim from using a boy's bathroom. they ruled goes.they ruled him in september and the appeals board will fuel in the next few weeks.

danville you are at 45. if you were watching us from south boston, 47. farmville, 46. and 45 toward the university of virginia. the radar is dry, and we are going to be staying dry for the next several days. no rain showing up anywhere nearby. on the futurecast, when you wake up in the morning, do be aware that there could be some refreezing. i don't think it is going to be overly widespread problems because a lot of that snow has been shovelled, but any snow that has melted today will be refreezing in the morning. for tomorrow, we will have sunshine in the morning, but increasing high clouds during the day. we are going to stay dry here even though it may look like rain. if you were traveling south, if you are headed down toward raleigh durham, over toward charlotte or toward the coastline, you will be seeing showers that direction, but we are going to stay dry. more areas of rain to our east and we do want to point out colder up to the north with chances for snow into the new england states. tonight, we will be partly cloudy, cold and dry. 20s by morning. lynchburg falling to 25.

the plane and knew somethin i looked over the newesweather info for you for your weekend, and your weekend is still looking great for your outdoor plans. saturday will be a little colder. we will have 20s in the mornings and warming toward 57. sunday, freezing at 8 a.m. and into the 60s with 60s sustaining dry for the weekend. one man got a chance to thank the people responsible for savefor saving his life on a plane. frank gabler just boarded a flight from orlando to san antonio when he even in the sudden cardiac arrest. luckily there were several doctors on board returning from a medical conference.
