coming up, we will let you know when we will also see a huge warm-up. anytime, anywhere, award-winning coverage you can count on, this is abc 13 news. >> danner: there is a huge search going on in the blacksburg area tonight for a missing teenager who police believe is in danger. this is 13-year-old nichole this is 13-year-old nichole lovell. she disappeared from her apartment some time between midnight and 7:00 this morning. her mom tells us she doesn't have some very important medication with her. when nichole was 10 months old she had a liver transplant and he has to take anti-rejection meds twice a day. she thinks the teen climbed out of her bedroom window early this morning with water bottoms and a minion blanket but not her medicine. so she already missed a dose at this point. >> at this point we are still -- we don't know if there is a runaway situation or foul play involved. we are asking for anybody with

please contact us with anything they might possibly have. anything can help us at that point. >> danner: blacksburg police are asking anyone with information to call them. a judge called it the most violent murder lynchburg has seen, now the man behind it dominic moss will spend the rest of his life in prison. the 24-year-old was arrested after a month-long manhunt for shooting and killing shawn moss in august of 2014. mona kosar abdi was in the court room as the sentence came down. [sirens] >> reporter: an ambush murder on a quiet street. >> reporter: shawn moss was shot in cold blood by this man, 24-year-old dominic moss. >> father, we forgive those that caused this. >> reporter: prosecutor chuck thalmey says the conflict stemmed from a long feud with shawn moss's brother, keith.

moss said, quote, one is as good as the other >> the defendant is extremely, extremely dangerous. >> reporter: moss ambushed shawn on 11th and polk street in august of 2014. shawn put his hands up, and that is when moss open fired. >> shot him while he was standing up and stood over top of him after he fell. >> reporter: the details of this violent murder brought shawn moss's family to tears in court. at one point shawn moss's mother took the stand saying not only did she lose a son, but a 13-year-old boy lost his father. >> he has a son that is going to grow up without a father. >> reporter: moss apologized to shawn moss's family saying he, too, is a father and now claimed to be a changed man, but judge patrick yates said in court, he believed if moss had the opportunity, he would kill again. >> when the judge announced his sentence, he just exploded and started making threats to others in the court room including myself.

for your weekend, i want to point fought your children are heading out to school in the morning, some refreezing of the melted snow. today we saw some of that snow melting as we saw highs in the 40s. we are above freezewe are above freezing this morning, but tomorrow morning will be colder as we make a run toward the 20s. right now 35 in lynchburg. 38 in roanoke. and just below freezeand just below freezing in blacksburg. for this evening at newstime, 11:00, most of us below freezing. 20s in the morning. be aware of black ice. coming up later, we will let you know when we will see that big warm-up. even though the winter storm has passed construction crews are feeling the impact. the impact affected a habitat for humanity project. crews just finished doing the electrical work at the home in the 400 block of hughes street in danville when the storm hit. the halt in construction caused a chain reaction delaying other projects in the house. >> we are working on hvac and plumbing. the pluming can not start until

the hvac is being done by a hvac class. when they are closed or delayed because of snow, that doesn't get done and the plumbing part gets backed up. >> danner: habitat for humanity is behind for a few days and they hope to have the house ready for the family mid spring. a lot of reaction a day after liberty university jerry falwell jr. endorsed donald trump. student and alumni are praising and criticizing the move. in a christian post article, some liberty alum are embarrassed and disappointed following falwell's decision to endorse trump. his brother jonathan has stayed out of the political sphere saying it is my pro not to endorse political candidates. most students support falwell's decision to support whichever candidate he choose. >> we are allowed to have our own view. jerry has a view and endorsing trump and let him do so, but we should be strong enough as christians to make our own

that's what we should be doing. >> danner: following yesterday>> danner: following yesterday's endorsement, trump tweeted that the endorsement was a great honor. lu said they do not support or oppose candidates for public office, and that falwell's endorsement was his own. hillary clinton said she did nothing wrong sending or receiving e-mails on her private server during her tenure as secretary of state. a firestorm of controversy over how out government agencies communicate. jeff barn reports. >> reporter: this executive order signed more than five years ago by president obama lace out guidelines of how all federal employees decide which documents get classified. the original classification authority determines that the unauthorized disclosure of information reasonably could be expected to result in damage to the national security. >> any information that is in those documents by definition classified. so you are not supposed to convey that information through a nonclassified source or median.

holmes, former assistant secretary of state under george w. bush, unless a federal agency pursues a declassification process, the day will remain marked and classified. but mrs. clinton maintains the e-mails in question on her personal server were not marked classified. >> it doesn't change the fact i never sent or received any materials marked classified. >> reporter: dr. holmes said an unclassified e-mail can later be classified after being sent, but it is rare when the information threatens national security. he said if the documents were marked classified and those markings disappeared during secretary clinton's tenure, they were likely deleted. >> does not mean that the original information was not classified. >> reporter: the intelligence community has many levels of highly classified e-mail systems including a pentagonsystems including a pentagon-run network of secret and top-secret communications. all systems are air gap, meaning you can't e-mail from one level to the other, yet 13one level to the other, yet 1300 e-mails on secretary

musician,bedford, roanokehe new river valley. >> danner: transgender team gavin grimm has been battling for a year to use the boy's bathroom at school and they took his case to the court of appeal. his attorneys made the case in front of a three-judge panel. came out as a transgender to teachers at gloucester high school freshmen year. not long after the school board banned him from the boy's bathroom and created a uni sex bathroom for him to use. gavin sued the school board for discrimination. >> basically saying you -- there is something wrong with you so that you can not use the rest room like any other kid. >> danner: gavin's aclu attorneys are asking the court

in the boys bathroom while the lawsuit makes its way through court. the court will rule in the next few weeks. we will stay on top of that for you. the county board of supervisors moved ahead with its controversial plan to relocate two log structures to make room for the economic development. the board approved its decision yesterday to move two structures. someone slave quarters and the other is a kitchen house. in place they want to construct a shell building. they it not anticipate that the plan would stir so much interest. pearson cancer center wants to help patients feel upbeat by adding tunes to their lobby. the fourth year they are hostthe fourth year they are hosting a musical month march and inviting musicians and school groups to perform. the response is great, but there is still looking for volunteers. on the agenda so far, high school bands, chorus groups, drumists, guitarists, and even

looking live you are probably going to reoy the forecast over the next few days as we are finally going to see warmer weather by the weekend, but do be aware that tomorrow morning for your thursday morning, there will be some refreezing

today as we will have temperatures below freezing in the 20s. most of us will be between 23 and 28 for your thursday morning, and the afternoon, we will be highs in the mid-40s to nearing 50. now jumping ahead, here is what we are tracking for you. major warm-up here saturday, sunday and monday with most of us reaching into the 60s. season. we will also have a dry weekend ahead so we don't have any rain or snow headed this way for now, and then about seven days away toward wednesday, actually late tuesday and wednesday, that will be our next chance for rain. we are just above freezing in lynchburg,lynchburg, but in the next two hours fall below freezing. 35 degrees. the wind is light and the wind will stay light. around the rest of the area if you were watching us from martinsville or virginia tech, you are now below freezing. blacksburg at 31. charlottesville, the university of virginia, 37. upper 30s into farmville, south boston and upper 30s in danville. here is what we are tracking for you and overall, you can

quiet. we do have thin, high clouds moving across our area for now. up to the north right through here you can make up a lowhere you can make up a low-pressure area with a weak cool front that will essentially keep the temperatures where they have been for your tomorrow and your friday and then we will really see that warm-up kicking in by saturday. when you wake up on thursday morning, tomorrow morning, we will have temperatures below freezing the 20s. now if you are driving south, if do you have a road trip into the carolinas, this is mainly going to be east of charlotte, there will be rain that direction, and some of that rain especially toward the thursday. for us, we are going to stay dry; however, there will be some chances for area of snow on the west side of the mountains. on friday, dry weather and a lot of sunshine, but it is going be too cool day for your friday with highs in the 40s. for tonight, we will see lows dropping down into the 20s which is colder than what we saw this morning. bedford, 25. amherst, 25. appomattox, 27. and we will also see upper 20s

watching us from smith mountain lake, 26 in the morning. your hourly weather for your thursday shows that at 8 a.m., we will still be below freezingwe will still be below freezing. after 9 a.m., temperatures above freezing. 42 at noon. 46 degrees at 4:00. and then 30s by 8 p.m. around the rest of the area tomorrow, all of us in the mid- to upper 40s to lower 50s and these temperatures are similar to where we were today. appomattox, 48. altavista, 48. martinsville, 47. and 50 in danville. the seven-day forecast, your eyes are probably drawn to this weekend. 357 on saturday with lower 60s on south side, and then for sunday, all of us making a run into the 60s. 62 on sunday with mid-60s on monday. then increasing rain for all the heart of virginia by wednesday. >> danner: thank you, george. today we have learned that virginia saw more debt from last week's winter storm than any other state. according to the associated press 49 people were killed in

they are crying, oh, no, just constant. it was really painful. >> reporter: it turns out that there was something medically going on with these babies that she didn't know about, and there was a really simple solution to fix it. she simply knew a meeting with a lactation and the babies are now getting bigger and growing. >> so when the lactationist comes out to follow up, i almost started crying like it is really bad. it is -- not like i had thought it would be. >> reporter: the consultants confirmed. -to-an ear, nose and throat specialist who confirmed. >> a condition commonly referred to as tongue tied. >> reporter: it is estimated that 4% of babies are born with this condition. >> eventually everybody is born with a thin band of tissue between their tongue and floor of mouth, but in some babies, that tissue is too tight that prevents the motion of the tongue in the normal fashion.
