under parts of the roof that had multiple holes. they're using a funnel system to get the water into buckets. they say.. they've been patching the roof for years.. and the temporary fixes won't do anymore. daniel gasser, museum director,"you can only patch it so much it needs to be replaced. we have a lot of plans for this section of the building. there's an education center we want to try to put back in here and we need to fix the roof first." pattie tight the price of a new roof.. 600-thousand dollars. the museum is applying for grants and has started a go fund me page. we have a link at wset.com. 3 3 mona still to come on good morning virginia... love going to concerts? so do we. but when it comes to getting tickets for a good price...the odds don't always seem to be in our favor.

crumbles (((nat/pop-"if i tug on that brick it would come right out.))) former commonwealth's attorney john greenbacker can easily point out exactly why this courthouse needs work. (((nat/pop-it's alarming))) taxpayers like james gordon agree something has to be done. but renovating an 1830's building...and now adding a second circuit courtroom... james gordon, taxpayer - "it doesn't make sense to me. and because you've decided to add this extra circuit court, you've added all the logistics of transferring people from one side of the building through to the other. this is all extra cost that we are going to have to bear as citizens of the county. 'and are they telling you how much extra that is?' nobody can tell us yet. we asked for it, no one can tell us." in the board vice-chairman's personal opinion...the extra courtroom isn't needed... but they've already cut several of the judges' requests from the project and have to give in somewhere.. j.t davis, supervisors vice chmn - "if we go to trial, i don't think we can come out a winner. again, we have cut costs by about four-million and we lose control of this courthouse negotiation, then it could cost us a lot more." the county raised property taxes by two-cents last july to pay for the costs...and if they crunched their numbers correctly, j-t davis says that should be enough to cover it -- but no promises. davis " we don't know where it's going to end. and with this economy going in such a tailspin, it could be more. these are just estimates at this point."

a 3 big concern. right now...witnesses, jury members, judges and inmates all use the same hallway to get into the courtroom. some taxpayers, like james gordon, think the county needs a new building, or to renovate another vacant building for the courthouse. that way.. by the time taxpayers pay off these renovations....they won't need another another 23-million in repairs again. 3 pattie plasma still to come on good morning virginia... the biggest award's show of the year is
