with annie andersen. >> reporter: 18-year-old david eisenhauer was arraigned this morning and was assigned a public defender to try his case. he was charged with kidnapping and first-degree murder. natalie keepers was charged with accessory after the fact and helping to dispose a body. >> she was a sweet girl. helped on bus. >> reporter: but according to police warrants, police say that david eisenhauer kidnapped lovell. and they think it was only

think that keepers was involved. >> it's a day by day process. there's a lot of decisions that they're making right now. a lot of things that they're hearing, and right now i think it's just shock. and it's just setting in as they go. >> reporter: the commonwealth's attorney says that lovell was autopsied today. now, both eisenhauer and keepers are expected back in court on march 28th. and the commonwealth attorney says that we may not know exactly how or what killed lovell until then. we have more on this ongoing horrible situation. priscilla kaiser went to virginia tech to see how students there are reacting. >> reporter: police turn their investigation onto the campus. season dives talk to the waters of duck pond on

searching into any clues into the murder of nichole lovell. >> it's a damper on campus. it's the only thing anybody is talking about. >> reporter: it left students is with questions. happened. we don't know anything happened in between. so there's a lot of speculation going on right now. >> reporter: police arrested virginia tech students david eisenhauer and natalie keepers over the weekend in connection with lovell's death. >> it's heartbreaking to hear that somebody like this could happen at virginia tech. >> reporter: we're told that one of the virginia tech students arrested lived in these dorms. students say they're disturbed to know that they lived near someone charged in the death of nichole lovell. >> it's just kind of that

mendenhall was released on a summons. spinner guilty. >> reporter: the judge heard three days of evidence and found vincent spinner guilty of robbing and killing his 83-year-old father-in-law. the judge says that after hearing the commonwealth's case, he thinks that all the pieces of the puzzle came together and that spinner committed this crime. he says that spinner stabbed his father-in-law in an intentional act and stole his wallet. the family says that they're happy that four years later, this tragic event has some closure. >> i have the utmost thankfulness and an appreciation for the

office and the deputies involved. >> reporter: spinner left the courtroom tearful. >> danner: they lost their family pets and everything that they own when theirhouse went up into flames. the fire marshal is still investigating the cause and the family is in shock. >> it was devastating. i'm trying -- [crying] to wake up and it will be over. >> danner: the family of four was staying with another family member in that area. >> reporter: another candidate is throwing his hat in the race for lynchburg's next treasure. rob bailey said that he will make sure that he'll make sure

next "e.t." >> danner: a man escaped from a house fire in amelia county, the it's especially difficult for him because he's blind. according delf, his father was in a state of confusion when the house went up into flames. >> he felt an intense amount of heat when he opened the door. he attempted to call 9-1-1, and when that failed, he got out of the house immediately. >> danner: the neighbors came flames. no word on how the fire started. over 400 feet of network lines have been cut down in allegheny county.

up in southside and we have rain in southside where we have those 60s. danville 61. clarksville 64. 40s and 50s in blacksburg and roanoke. in pinpoint doppler radar, we have the last gasp of rain that's trying to move over lynchburg right now in highway 29, alta vista, and brookneal. heavier rain in farmville and richmond. and in blacksburg and roanoke we're getting a break in the rain. even though the rain is going to be ending this evening, additional rain is going to be heading in this week. and we have the light rain near danville. in the morning, we'll have cloudy, gray skies. and tomorrow take your coat with you. we'll see highs in the 40s for many of us. in southside, you'll see highs in the 50s. for most of the day tomorrow, we're going to be dry. then by tuesday night and
