developments tonight. anytime, anywhere, award-winning coverage you can count on, this is abc 13 news. breaking in just the last few hours, charges have been upgraded of one of the suspects against the nicole lovell murderagainst the nicole lovell murder. natalie keeper is charged with accessory before the fact of death in the 13-year-old blacksburg girl's death. annie andersen is live in blacksburg right now, and andy, a major development in this casea major development in this case. >> reporter: yes, danner. we learned today that a preliminary autopsy indicates that 13-year-old nicole lovell died from a stabbing. commonwealth attorney mary petit, it said while the final autopsy could take months, they have determined how lovell died. the state police and recovery team has been searching the pond near virginia tech's vet far in ye school, we don't know what they found if anything, but today petit, it said along with

body and an accessory after the fact, 19-year-old natalie cooperfact, 19-year-old natalie coopers is charged with accessory before the firstaccessory before the first-degree murder of lovell. if keepers is convicted, she could spend the rest of her life behind bars. petitt cleared up a few details on the murder arrest warrant for david eisenhower, the other suspect in this case. lovell died some time around saturday and that amendment will be to saturday, the same day it lovell was kidnapped. she explained why keepers and eisenhower was arraigned in court. >> all preliminary proceedings of the victim of physical violence is a minor are required by statute newt virginia to begin in juvenile and domestic relations court. after the preliminary hearing, the case also proceed to a grand jury and then to the circuit court for trial. >> reporter: petti, it said

are both results, the trial will be open to the public unless otherwise. >> danner: we heard from lovell's mother and she recountlovell's mother and she recounted her daughter's short life and multd pell medical complications at a young age. priscilla kaiser is there. she is live in blacksburg. >> reporter: a distraught mother recounting her daughter's struggle in life, fighting through tough medical situationsthrough tough medical situations, to then lose her life the way she did. tammy weeks said her daughter had to have a liver transplant at just ten months old after doctors discovered a rare tumor. years later at the young age of 4, weeks said her daughter was then diagnosed with nonhodgkin's lymphoma and fell ill to acute respiratory distress syndrome. she slipped into a coma and developed a mrsa fiction. >> we were advised at this time she only had 1% chance of survival.

after eight months in the hospital, she was released, and she started to thrive. >> reporter: less than an hour ago we learned of lovell's funeral arrangements. the visitation set tomorrow from 5 to 8 p.m. at cory funeral home in blacksburg. the funeral is thursday at 3:00 at the funeral home. tonight at 6:00, lovell's mother talks about her daughter's passions and love for life. danner. >> danner: thank you, priscilla>> danner: thank you, priscilla. they called her coley. she referred to nicole as coley and gave insight into her daughter's life. they created memorials all over the school, drawings for nicole and her family and her friends created a sign that is now on display in the cafeteria. spaces in of two nicole's
