messaging app.here's what we know. stacy snider -- a neighbor whose 8-year-old twins played with nicole, told the associated press that before she vanished, nicole showed her girls david eisenhauer's picture. snider says she also showed them text coversations they had shared and said that she would be sneaking out to meet him. snider says her girls told the police that information when they asked. but she didn't learn any of this until nicole had vanished. pattie tight we've also learned that kik interactive -- based in canada --was active in helping the fbi carry out this investigation. 3 pattie david eisenhauer is charged with murder and kidnapping. and now, natalie keepers is now facing a new charge.. accessory before the murder.pattie tight yesterday -- we learned a preliminary autopsy shows the 13-year-old was stabbed to death. but the final autopsy won't be available until late march. montgomery county commonwealth's attorney mary pettitt says natalie keepers will be back in court later this month on her new charges. originally, arrest

charlottesville reports that opening statements will begin at 8:30 this morning in roanoke. yesterday, 12 jurors and four alternates were seated in the trial for those charged in connection to kevin quick's death. last year -- a judge declared a mistrial after one of the defendants took a list of juror names. 3 pattie the criminal case against bill cosby resumes today in pennsylvania. yesterday, a former prosecutor testified in a pre-trial hearing that he barred the state from prosecuting cosby ..more than a decade ago. cosby is charged with assault, stemming from the alleged rape of a woman at his home in 2004. the comedian has not entered a plea. and he's denied any wrongdoing. cosby's lawyers want the charge dropped given the former prosecutor's testimony. of the dozens of women accusing cosby of sexual assault, this is the only criminal case filed against him. 3 3 wednesday will be a washout, as heavy rain begins in the morning and continues into the afternoon hours. most rainfall totals will average from 0.50" to 2.25". don't be surprised if you hear a few rumbles of thunder, as a few

engineering, will speak before the u.s. house oversight and government reform committee. the hearing will look at the situation in flint and review the epa's administration of the safe drinking water act in the city. 3 pattie tight sweet briar college is getting a significant gift for its environmental science program. the judith haskell brewer fund awarded the college a two-part gift. one is 500 thousand dollars over three years. the other is a 500 thousand dollar challenge grant to be matched by other college donors. one of the programs it will help is the land atmosphere research station, which collects atmospheric data. the picture you are looking at is the 120-foot research tower at the station. 3 pattie box a potential change is coming for home school students... both chambers of the general assembly have approved legislation to allow home-schooled students to participate in public school sports. the measure is commonly known as the "tebow bill." it passed in the senate yesterday. and passed in the house last week. a similar measure passed

been 4 days since nicole's body was found... and the shockwaves of her murder are resounding. many in her community say this news...hits close to home. but help save the next girl is trying to put an end to the disturbing trend. marissa parra reports. 3 the murder of 13 year-old nicole lovell strikes a personal chord for jane vance. jane lillian vance, vice president of save the next girl: "she was so alert to kindness in my seeing her every day. she was exemplary. she was both young and innocent, and very sophisticated in being good to people." this isn't her first encounter with this sort of tragedy. morgan harrington was a student of hers at virginia tech when she too was murdered. instead of turning to grief, she felt compelled 3 to tap into something a little different and spread a message of love:jane lillian vance, save the next girl: "the

3 pattie plasma this morning, the search continues for those who shot a danville doctor and another man. police say someone shot dr. randolph neal while he walking home from work...and just a short time later, they shot neal's neighbor as well. it happened monday night in the 200 block of mount vernon avenue. at last check-- dr. neal was in stable condition at wake forest baptist medical center. his neighbor has been released from the hospital.lt. mike wallce, danville police department,"we haven't had this type of crime in that area, it's not to say that it's never been, but in the recent past we really haven't that type of crime. we've had larcenies or break-ins or that type of thing."pattie plasma police don't have any suspects. a private source is offering a 10-thousand dollar reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those involved. 3 3 3 pattie box the lynchburg police department has 2 new officers on its staff. gerwin thompson and joseph tucker were sworn in yesterday. but both of them began

has more than 4 years of experience. tucker grew up on the southside and has 3 years experience as a deputy. congratulations to both of them. 3 pattie plasma virginians remain divided when it comes to opinions on gun control. a new roanoke college poll found 50 percent think it is more important to protect the rights of americans to own guns than to control gun ownership. 41 percent think gun control is more important. but 86 percent of all those polled think background checks should be required at gun shows. that number is largely unchanged from previous polls. 3 pattie tight opposition in the general assembly.. yesterday's conflict was over whether or not virginia should say where they get the drugs used in executions. senator scott surovell introduced the bill after the state used drugs from texas in the execution of alfredo prieto in october. texas law allows for officials to not disclose where they got the drugs so we still don't know where the drugs from prieto's execution were from.

administering of drugs if the source is not revealed. but a subcommittee rejected the bill. 3 pattie plasma health officials say a patient in texas has acquired the zika virus through sexual transmission. the cdc says the patient was infected after having sexual contact with an ill person who returned from a country where zika is present. the virus is usually spread through mosquito bites. but investigators have been exploring the possibility the virus also can be spread through sex.pattie plasma meanwhile, a french company is the first to announce it will attempt to deveop a vaccine for the zika virus. abc news reports the sanofi pasteur company has launched a vaccine research and development project to target the virus. 3 pattie tight newborns at danville regional medical center will be wearing red hats this month to celebrate american heart month. volunteers for the american heart association are actually knitting and crocheting the hats for all the newborns. it's part of the little hats, big hearts program -- which raises awareness for heart disease- the number one killer of americans.

is going back to an old policy... families with small kids get to board the airplane first. starting february 15th, parents with kids age 2 or younger will be allowed to pre-board united airlines flights. that's right after passengers with disablities and active duty military personnel who are in uniform. the policy was dropped in 2012. a company spokesman says they were trying to simplify the boarding process. but that going back to this policy is "simply the right thing to do." 3 pattie plasma still to come on good morning virginia... david bowie's death shocked fans and friends alike. and now the music icon is being honored at the grammy's. details in
