she said she was excited to be part of something secretive and special. it has been nearly 2 weeks since nicole went missing. investigators tracked the last messages from her phone to eisenhower. he said he left and went to a close friend storm. that close friend, natalie keepers seen here in video posted on youtube in 2014. keepers father, and aerospace engineer, broke down in tears. her family stunned. >> noreen: now to the friend raising new concerns about what people knew about the teenagers online encounters and when. melissa has the story. >> reporter: carry cook so she knew nicole for about eight years and spoke highly of her kindness. >> last year, we went on a school field trip and i forgot my money in my locker and she had money and bought me food and drink for she bought her food. >> reporter: both students at

carrie said she saw the transformation when nicole started talking to boys. >> facebook is pretty much where she talk to guys, but in school she really didn't talk to the guys. >> reporter: she said something didn't quite feel right. >> i removed this one guy looked older than 18. they were dating and they were posting screenshots of how they were cute couple and how they were great together. >> reporter: how recently was this? >> a little before winter break. >> reporter: i asked what he looked like. >> i think he sort of had a beard. it was growing. he did look over the age of 18. >> so it wasn't david? >> it wasn't david. >> reporter: she said the age difference was a red flag. >> he just looked to old. >> reporter: she said she took her concerns to officials.

told the police officer they are. >> reporter: she said she was told it would be looked into and about a month later the call went missing. >> i didn't believe it. i thought it was just a rumor and she missed school. >> reporter: she said she was haunted by the screen shot she had seen of nicole with the older man. >> noreen: the blacksburg police department released a statement on their facebook page they never received a tip from a student.they said the school resource officer had no information concerning the call in relation to her disappearance. not a student or even nicole herself reached out to him about anything that will cause concern.he would have acted on it through the appropriate channels, he said. you can read the full statement in its entirety on our website, wset.com. we did reach out to blacksburg

lynchburg attorney mark zeek announced he is running for the 22nd district. he said his campaign hinges on garrett winning that seat. it will be his second run for a seat in the state senate. the top two democrats went face-to-face for the last time before the new hampshire primary. the candidates were clashing overcharges of not standing up to wall street. hillary clinton dodged the question about releasing the transcripts of her paid speeches to banks and big corporations. she showed her muscle on foreign-policy. sanders refused to go after clinton for her email controversy and instead going after her controversy over the establishment. >> i think it's time to end the artful smear that you and your campaign have been carrying out. republicans are up next to their final debate is a saturday night on abc.
