americans to be on high alert for a phone scam that is bilking taxpayers off millions. someone called a woman and demanded that she pay thousands of dollars in back taxes. scared, she wired $10,000 to an account in seattle. it was all a scam. the i.r.a. says that since october 2015, 5,000 victims lost millions of dollars to people pretending to be i.r.s. officials. >> they often use a fake telephone number with a u.s. area code, they may even threaten arrest or deportation. >> reporter: a new law is

move back in. dew point at 19. visibility unlimited at ten and the winds are calm. we start to see the clouds move back in, and we might go down another degree or two. 30 in roanoke. 29 blacksburg. 32 in hot springs and charlottesville. we have some snow flurries now for southern portions of halifax county and the interstate 40 corridor. and that is all associated with the little branch off of this bigger system towards the carolina coastline. this will move offshore, bottom out, and intensify rapidly up towards the north. that's not going to play into our weather with the exception of maybe a few clouds thrown back in the mix.

michigan will make its way up into our forecast. then our eyes will turn to this clipper system up towards the north. as that moves down with that cold front behind it, it's going to spark rain and snow showers on monday. and tomorrow afternoon, if you go east to the parkway, you're likely going to see more clouds. west of the parkway may see sunny skies. we'll briefly go down to cloudy skies but then more clouds run in on monday morning. clouds change to rain and then snow in the afternoon.

monday will be 12:00-5:00 on tuesday. totals look to be 0.5-2 inches. and in terms of snowfall totals generally less than an inch with the high amounts north and west of the area. and a dusting with highers west. and then the attention will turn to this cold blast of air that will come in. we'll go two shots of that. one on thursday and a reenforcing one on saturday. lows tonight in the 20s. variably cloudy skies, school. daylight highs tomorrow 52 in lynchburg to 55 in danville. amherst, 52. dillwyn 53. alta vista, 52.
