any snow will not going to accumulate. we will not see the travel issues. in bedford county, you can fairly see. a few flurries which are out there. for this evening is simply the cold weather. actual temps most of us are below freezing. lynchburg at 28. roanoke at 30. this map shows us the wind chill and most of us it feels like the 20s. so in summary, a few flurries possible this evening. tomorrow have to deal with bitter -- bitter cold wind chills as the wind is going to be stronger. then on monday, accumulating snow is likely. coming up a little later we will let you know how much snow we are expecting. let's look ahead to monday for you. we reached out to v dot to see how they are preparing for the snow. crews are putting down brine today in anticipation of the snow. getting it down early. a 72-hour window to get it on the roads and they want to make

roads so that you are safe when the weather begins. we did ask if the brine will stay on the roads all weekend and v dot said there is no concern of it disappearing between now and monday. we want to get right to the latest on that bad fire brookneal as well. the former dan river plant. a breaking story we covered extensively for you after it broke yesterday. katie brooke is live from the scene with what we know new tonight. >> reporter: danner, there is a burnt stench in the air and a haze covering the entire town and take a look over here what we are seeing right now. a lot of smoke. officials tell me that this site is contained. the fire is out. there is still a few flames and piles over here. depending on how the wind blow, you can see the flames, but again, the fire is contained. we have seen a few trucks come and go but not many. not much has changed at this site at this time since the fire has been put out. i spoke with fire fighters who

the early hours and sleeping today. i left a message with the fire marshal to see what sparked the blaze and right now they are investigating. nobody got hurt and the building was being demolished when the fire broke out. tracy fair child told us today the response has been tremendous. she wants to thank everyone who bought food for fire fighters overnight. the campbell county school system provided two bus so as fire fighters could get out of the cold and rest up. and i talked to someone here today who worked here for more than 30 years. hear what she has to say after seeing it burned down on abc 13 at 5:30. live in campbell county, katie brooke, abc 13 news. >> danner: i know a lot of people are feeling nostalgic after the plant burned down in brookneal. so many people employed there, family members as well. a lot of you took pictures of the fire as it was happening. this photo gallery you can go through. it is on our web site at

and if you have pictures that you want to send. send it to pics@wset.com. the complete coverage of the fire at wset.com as well and at our abc 13 facebook page. we are awaiting word from a judge right now in pulaski county as he decides the fate of 31-year-old ashley white. the mother of 5-year-old noah thomas whose body was found in a septic tank faces four felony abuse charges. ashley white took the stand in her own defense. the heart of the prosecution's case is the mother of two young children knowingly and intentionally left them in danger the morning noah went missing when white admitted to leaving the children alone when she took their father paul thomas to work. she initially lied to investigators when they told them she took the kids with her. white told the court she lied because they wanted investigators to look for noah and knew they would focus on

she told the court she had seen noah standing on top of the septic tank lid a month or two before she disappeared but she, quote, never thought for one second, and then she began crying. the defense argued while she made bad parenting decisions her acts were not willful in the intent to put harm on her children. the defense said the easy access to that septic tank lid that was not childproof. suri crowe in court right now and we will bring that you verdict as soon as it is announced. new booking video released of 18-year-old david eisenhauerof 18-year-old david eisenhauer. the virginia tech student has been charged in the death of 13-year-old nicole lovell. here it is. 19-year-old natalie keepers has also been charged in the death. police say that keepers helped

body in north carolina. eisenhauer lured nicole from her home the night she went missing. developing in the last few hours, roanoke county police are investigating the murderare investigating the murder-suicide of an elderly couple. they say 79-year-old henry ross rock called in saying he had killed his wife, 81-year-old nora and was going to commit suicide on monday. police say by the time they got to pinewood drive it was too late. they found both dead. lynchburg police seized more than 58 pounds of highmore than 58 pounds of high-grade marijuana and arrested two men in that drug bust. 58-year-old randall simpson of forest and david johnson much go uld face charges. during the last several months operation. they believe the marijuana was shipped from california. multiple agencies executed

areas and seized more than $5areas and seized more than $55,000 in multiple vehicles. drug thing. >> martinsville. right now police rounding up what they say is mid- to upperwhat they say is mid- to upper-level drug dealers. they have 14 in custody so far. tola adamson has the details on this special investigation. tola? >> reporter: danner, this is the result of the department's community policing effort. they say after connecting more with residents, they found that the number one concern is drug dealing putting innocent people in harm's way. last year they start a thorough investigation. they say willing residents who knew the drug scene went up to expose these drug dealers but say police were always nearby. so far the special investigation unit arrested 14 people with 5 charges between them. they have a total of 86 indictments and say many more arrests are on the way.

these efforts will not cease until every last drug dealer in the city martinsville have hung up the game or found himself a new address in the city jail. >> reporter: police say they did a two-year-long investigation and switched on their approach to do shorter investigation that way they could get drug dealers off the street as soon as possible and send a strong message to other criminals. live in danville, tola adamson, abc 13 news. a pedestrian is still in the hospital after being hit by a car in roanoke last night. here is what we know. around 8:15 the intersection of orange avenue and williamson road. police say that pedestrian got hit. they say the driver stayed and cooperated. police say the driver isn't facing any charges. the pedestrian whose identification haven't been confirmed yet was taken to the hospital. police are still waiting on lab results to see if that pedestrian watts on drugs or

>> danner: okay, we have a couple of doozys ahead of us, very cold days and some snow -- in a forecast. >> george: kind of a one-two punch and probably not a fun forecast for outdoor plans. frigid this weekend and tracking the snow moving in. >> danner: time stock up on the firewood if you haven't already. >> george: put to good use. go into early this week and so many of are you worrying about the snow. as far as the timing of the snow and some of the changes we made to the forecast tampamade to the forecast tampa.looks like the heavier snow will be arriving earlier which means it will start on monday. during the morning, we will see the snow moving in with the heavier snow during the pm hours. and 2 to 5 inches totals will be common. and 520-to-9 inches of snow

on tuesday, precip will be heavier and the temperatures will be warming up so that means instead all snow, it will be transitioning to sleet and rain. we could see slippery roads on tuesday. bottom line on monday morning we will see the snow moving in. here is a map of what we are forecasting, and i advise to you stay with us throughout the weekend as these totals will change, but thischange, but this what we are forecasting for now. 2 to 5 inches for most of us. as you work your way up to the west, you can see the higher totals. 4 to 9 inches throughout mountains. i think most of the totals likely 4 to 7 inches with a few totals 8-9. many of 2u to 5. as you work your way to the east farmville and richmond, 1 to 2 to 3-inch totals will be most likely. stay with us all weekend and keep you updated online and on your television set on this snow for next week. it is another frigid day at 28 degrees.

and a south wind at 8 miles per hour. for tomorrow, it will be a frigid day as the wind going to be coming in from the west and northwest. we will be dry tomorrow and full sunshine for your saturday. now on sunday, valentine's day, good snuggling weather coming up, it is going to be dry to begin sunday. this is a look during the afternoon. these are areas of clouds, but very late sunday night into monday morning when we will see snow moving in so after midnight and throughout morning hours, this area of light blue is representing the snow. the snow will be coming in from the south and west. that means southwestern virginia, you are going to be getting the snow first before it spreads its way into roanokeit spreads its way into roanoke, lynchburg and the rest of the heart of virginia. overnight tonight, we will see lows in the teens, decreasing clouds. amherst, 16. appomattox, 16. and altavista at 18. hourly weather show below freezing all day. 24 at lunch and a high of 27, but it will feel much colder
