3pattie plasma3 lynchburg public works works has been working overnight to try to keep the roads clear. yesterday, we spoke to the director of lynchburg public works who says crews took all the precautions necessary to be ready for this round of winter weather. after our last winter storm, public works said they had about 150-thousand dollars left in their snow budget -- which

snow and ice. they're asking the public to be patient as they try to get to all roads over the next few days. gaynell hart, public works director " just as a reminder we only have enough trucks to work on primary and secondary roads so those will be our priority until we get those passable." :8 public works crews weren't the only ones getting ready.. lowe's also had all of their snow prep and removal items on deck. sales associates say they've been in touch with their fufillment warehouse in the last few days to stock up on ice melt, shovels, and snowblowers. but by now, many of those items are long gone. 3 3pattie box and officials in danville say they began treating their roads with brine on friday. we're told the decision was made to start early because the frigid temperatures we've seen this weekend could have caused the brine to freeze. offcials say it takes crews an average of 10 hours to pretreat all of the main thoroughfares. also, officials say they're prepared to do round-the-clock snow removal. we'll continue to keep you updated on this winter weather as the

to roanoke memorial hospital.. and, at last check, he's in stable condition. officials say the man smith was trying to get to was found a little later in the city of martinsville.. and he was taken in for a mental evaluation. 3pattie tight the kind of weather we're waking up to this morning always keeps first responders busy... last night, crews in lynchburg were called to an accident where a woman's car slid off the road and burst into flames. it happened just before 9 on 460 between campbell avenue and candlers mountain road. police say the driver slipped off the left side of the road into the woods - and that's when her car caught fire. we're told the woman was able to get out of the car and was not hurt. 3pattie this morning, the fire at the old dan river mill is still under investigation. and at last check, the old mill was still smoldering. this is drone video sent in to us by corey w. brown. firefighters spent days battling that fire and putting out hot spots.. through frigid temperatures. the factory employed nearly 500 people in it's prime.. but it's sat empty for 10 years.

flashlights, batteries a radio and blankets ready. pattie... 3 3 3pattie plasma this morning we're learning more about the campbell county man killed in a single vehicle wreck.. along with his girlfirend and 1- year-old child. friday night, abc 13 told you about 36-year-old david chris johnson -- who was arrested and charged along with another man in connection to a marjuana distribution operation in lynchburg. johnson was being held at the time on a 10-thousand dollar secured bond. no word yet on when exactly he was released. police say he was behind the wheel of the vehicle when he hit a mailbox and a nearby embankment near the intersection of waterlick and leesville roads on saturday. johnson, his girlfriend micalynn white and johnson's 1-year-old son all died at the scene. 3 3pattie plasma johnson's
