on campus.i spent a large part of my life dealing with safety and security, but this is something that you never grow accustomed to and you want to take it calmly, rationally, and you cooperate fully with those agencies who are able to handle it.3 mona plasma an open house scheduled for saturday at the school has also been postponed. sheriff mike taylor with the pittsylvania county sheriff's office told the washington post.. they are cautiously optimistic this is a "hoax".. but they'are not assuming anything. in the next half hour of good morning virginia...hear reactions from local residents. 3 3 pattie tight state police are investigating a fatal crash in pittsylvania county. troopers say.. homer wolfe was driving south on route 6-40.. when he ran off the right side of the road. police say he overcorrected, came back across the road, and ran off the left side before hitting a tree. this all happened around 4 p.m. yesterday. police say..the 74-year-old was not wearing his seatbelt and died at the scene.

than a dozen students are in the hospital in dinwiddie. police say.. two school buses were involved in an accident, yesterday, near the intersection of boydton plan road.. and hofheimer way. state police say.. 22 students were hospitalized with minor injuries. there were 73 students on the two buses. 3 nats helicopter crash -- oh crapmona it happened in just seconds. a helicopter just short of land..rolling over in the water in pearl harbor near the uss arizona memorial yesterday. bystanders jumped in to help the 5 people on board. a knife was reportedly used to free one of them. all of them survived. the helicopter belongs to a tourist company and is a popular flight for tourists. officials say the surviving pilot will be able to tell them exactly what went wrong. right now the ntsb is investigating. 3 mona plasma a woman who reached out to us about her troubles with a flooded yard

cheryl rose told us.. melting snow had been an issue for the last two-years and had yet to be resolved by vdot. workers from vdot finally reached out to her, and have been at her house to inspect the problem. a spokesperson from vdot confirms the unresolved issues, including a pipe that needs cleaning. rose says.. she looks forward to having a dry basement. 3 mona tight this morning we are getting a better idea of just how long a danville park will be closed for construction after it was impacted by a coal ash spill. the city says.. abreu-grogan park will close on february 29th for construction. improvements scheduled for the park include adding a courtesy dock, building a bathroom, fishing platform and sidewalks. this comes as part of a settlement between the city and duke energy. the park should re-open sometime in may. 3 mona plasma a battle is still brewing over what to do with historic slave quarters at the old greenfield plantation in botetourt county. the county wants to move the buildings to a new

friends of the greenfield says that would be a dishonor to the plantation's history. annie andersen reports. 3 dozens braved the cold, and gathered at what used to be the greenfield plantation in botetourt county. it's been an ongoing battle. the county says keeping the slave quarters where they are.. could keep prospective businesses away.(david moorman, deputy county administrator, botetourt county) but the group friends of the greenfield plantation gathered to say thing to consider.(richard moore, descendent of plantation resident) "this is where my grandmother was born. i think that the historical signifigance of the site over sways that and by disrupting it, you're losing a lot that you would not be able to recreate no matter where you put the cabins." shirley johnson lewis also has relatives who lived there. 3 later in the day. 3 3 mona box a lynchburg man will spend 10 months behind bars for selling pot on liberty university's campus. according to the deputy commonwealth's attorney chuck felmley -- 20 year old thomas wright must also pay 61- hundred dollars in restitution. wright pleaded guilty to 14 felony charges in december. police say they pulled wright over shortly after he sold weed to an undercover cop on the lu campus back in may. they say when they searched wright's home.. they found more than 14-thousand dollars in cash and more marijuana. 3 mona plasma this morning we are learning more about the case involving the death of nicole lovell. search warrants related to the case have been sealed by a judge. the documents may contain key details of the

nicole lovell's death. the warrants were sealed february 1st -- according to the roanoke times. 18-year-old david eisenhauer is charged with abduction and first-degree murder. another virginia tech student, 19-year-old natalie keepers, is charged with accessory before and after the fact. police say she helped with illegally dumping nicole's body just across the state line in north carolina. montgomery county prosecutor mary pettitt says she will continue to consider whether evidence could warrant a capital murder charge. 3 mona tight two deputies involved in the fatal shooting of a teen in buckingham county have been suspended. the sheriff is not releasing their names until the investigation is over - according to the daily progress. state police say.. dyzhawn perkins had been shot earlier in the day saturday by deputies after he attacked one of them. they say state police went to a store after a report perkins had attacked two people there. they say the 19-year-old then broke into a house and assaulted an elderly couple. deputies arrived.. and state

one of them. that's when they say they fired at perkins.. killing him. 3 mona plasma we are getting a look at the surveillance video that shows the assault and robbery of a decorated marine veteran in washington dc. we want to warn you. this may be hard to watch. take a look.. d-c metro police released the video in an effort to find the people responsible. the attack happened last friday at a mcdonald's. in the video.. you can see a group of people hanging out at the restaurant. 30-year-old chris marquez says.. while he was eating, a group of young people surrounded him.. and began yelling about "black lives matter." marquez says.. he ignored them and tried to leave. that's when he was attacked and robbed. police are looking for three people. marquez is an iraq and afghanistan war vet. he received a bronze star for his heroism. 3 mona box taxpayers in virginia will have to pick up a food and drink tab..for a luxury box at last month's redskins' playoff game.. the bill.. 25-hundred dollars. citing an invoice that divided the tab between the
