the center of a debunked rolling stone article about a gang rape at uva has been ordered to answer questions from lawyers as part of a civil suit. the daily progess in charlottesville reports that a federal judge ordered the woman, identified only as "jackie," to submit to a deposition in the case on april 5th. the judge also set an october 11th trial date for the case.. which is expected to last two weeks. uva administrator nicole eramo sued rolling stone and the article's author for defamation, saying the article cast her as - quote "chief villain." the article said jackie was raped by seven men in a fraternity initiation. but the magazine retracted the piece after jackie's claims proved implausible. 3 whit plasma the battle for the most ballots is on.. voters in south carolina are making their choice in the republican race.. while just in the last few minutes, several outlets have declared hillary clinton the winner in a tight nevada caucus race. abc's megan hughes has the latest. 3 natsfrom the ballot box?.to

lu3 3 whitney plasma victims of state-approved sterilization in virginia - known as "eugenics" - will soon be getting more compensation as part of the effort to right the wrong done to them. from the early 1900's until the late 1970's - thousands of virginias were sterilized against their will. and a local attorney has been fighting to get them what they deserve. courtney wheaton joins us live in the newsroom with more on their plight. courtney nsrm whitney, many of these victims have horrible stories to tell. they describe their time under the state's care as prison. they were even called inmates. although they can't get those year's back atleast they have something to show for it. 3 3 "25! yes! dollars. 3 money given to 3 her by the state for unforgiven debts. " the now 74 year old was just one of thousands that received forced sterilization after the state deemed her unfit to have children. she describes being institutionalized as one of the worst times of her life. " i was happy to get away from there" three years ago her life changed. with the help of her family, she contacted mark bold, the executive director of the christian law institute. " i asked will you help me and you said i'll do what i can and you did." :7 he's helped rose and 13 others that he lovingly calls " his people" recieve restitution. each folder has a different name, but inside they all share a similar story. mark bold, christian law institute " what we 3 are always looking for is the sterilization record summary or talking about they were sterilized and this is proof this is the ticket." :9 but he fears there are still hundreds who have yet to recieve justice. " they may not have read or heard about the compensation, so they don't get it? that's terrible." :5 to right that wrong, virginia lawmakers recently proposed an amendment to the original 400-thousand dollar allotment for survivors. they're now

dollars to compensate an 3 additional 32 victims plus 80,000 dollars to cover outreach efforts to let them know the funds are available. so like rose they can finally find a sense of peace.
