say there are still crews working on some power outages at this hour. 3 danner there are new security concerns for the folks who live in evergreen. mark that's the community the tornado hit the hardest. and as people there begin to clean up -- access to the area is tightening up significantly. suri crowe is live with the latest.suri satlive you can see the heavy police presence behind me here - residents have expressed security concerns about their property and exposed homes in evergreen. and because of that they have now tightened up police access to the neighborhood. starting tomorrow unless you have a placard displayed in your vehicle windshield 3 you will not be allowed access to the evergreen neighborhood. if you don't live there but you would like to help out and are a friend of

3 danner tight 3 as the recovery effort begins, questions begin to swirl about the process. volunteers from all over were helping one appomattox homeowner remove debris from her home.pause for nats of chainsaw rhita reebals lives off cub creek road, another area, hit hard by the storm. reebals says she has been on the phone non-stop with her insurance company and other providers trying to figure out the right steps to take. she says her insurance company said they would cover the costs of any trees that need to be cut down. but as for the stubs.. that might be on her tab.rhita reebals - "that's the big problem because insurance doesn't cover removal of the stumps. so that is going to be the most expensive part, getting the stumps removed and taken off the property."danner tight reebals says she was also confused about what to do with all the debris.

3 danner tight so we want to set the record straight on that. here's what officials want you to do. county officials say they don't want you to take it to trash collection or convenience centers. natural debris may be hauled to the appomattox county landfill. they are extending their hours right now. the national guard and regional hazmat personnel will be on-site to separate hazardous materials. they also say to make sure when you are moving the debris that it's secure in your car so it doesn't go flying onto the highway. 3 mark tight they may have joined the emergency response group thinking they'd help with disaster relief all over the world. but right now.. a group of students from liberty university are getting the chance to help those in their own backyard. katie brooke is live in appomattox county after meeting up with them. katie liveu mark, 23 students spent the day here helping wherever needed -- loading belongings in uhauls, tacking tarps on roofs, and just being there for those

they're here as 3 a part of lu send now, the university's emergency response team. students say it's crazy to think that back on campus, everything is fine. and they're just shocked to see the disaster around them here. one team from lu send now just got back from greece. and another is being sent to flint, michigan next week to help with the water crisis there. so students say helping out their neighbors --- is humbling. 3 mcnutt, sophmore, "when you sign up for lu sendnow going to be sent to nepal or indonesia guess it's like just that concept that you can help

3 3 danner kansas governor sam brownback is going to the scene of last night's mass shooting at a lawnmower factory. mark authorities say cedric ford opened fire at the factory in kansas where he worked. ford was served with a protection from abuse order about 90 minutes before the attacks began. 11 people were shot there.. and three killed. a police officer killed ford during an exchange of gunfire. ford had an extensive criminal record.. including arrests for burglary and battery. 3 danner tight they worked. that's the message from the danville fire department and the danville life saving crew

emergency call today. as soon as they got into a home, the carbon monoxide alarms on their medical bags went off. so they got everyone out. one person did go to the hospital for another medical emergency. and the danville gas department did come fix the problem. the alarms were just added to the bags the first week of this month. 3 mark the city of danville is restoring its last confederate capitol marker. it's stood on main street for seven decades. in order to fix it up, they have to temporarily remove it. the marker is scheduled to be removed on friday, march 4th, and expected to be reinstalled by march 14th. 3 danner tight two former slave buildings on what had been a botetourt county plantation have been moved to a designated historic preservation area to make way for industrial development. house movers transported a kitchen house to a new spot, about a half-mile away yesterday, where county officials say it will be part of a 28-acre historic park in fincastle. the kitchen house had been where slaves once prepared meals for
