days since a tornado ripped through this small community in appomattox county. volunteers were out there today lending a hand with clean up and debris removal. and residents are moving forward showing us what it means to be appomattox strong. but first, just into our newsroom. a police officer has been shot and killed and two others are injured in prince william county. three officers were responding to a domestic related call. ashley gunden has died as a result of her injuries. there's no word on the condition of the other two officers. the suspect was not hurt and has been taken into custody. a few details are available right now. police say a call came in around 5:30 p.m. regarding a verbal argument in woodbridge and police were dispatched to that home. we'll follow the developing

as the dust settles in appomattox county, more and more storm victims are being reunited with their lost belongs. the winds sent some items as much as 15 miles away from her homes. tonight one woman is sharing her journey on getting a childhood drawing back. >> reporter: terry and -- have never met. it was a painting taylor made old. >> she said that her mom had a black frame on her mantle. >> reporter: that is until the storm blew the picture away in buckingham county.

of nowhere and little things like this. >> reporter: terry posted the picture on facebook and found kayla, the rightful owner. >> this is all we have left. >> reporter: thousands of people are still looking for those lost items. the community has set up a lost and found where they're hoping to reunite people with their lost possessions. >> we've had clothes, pictures, documents. >> reporter: law enforcement has it set up at evergreen baptist church. they are working to sort through hundreds of miles of debris. >> some documents have mud and stuff. we'll clean them the best we can before we package them in bags. >> reporter: hopefully leading to more stories like terry and kayla's. >> i can't thank terry enough
