wednesday even with very good rain chances crossing the area. behind that system temperatures head back to the 40s. a blast of arctic air looms for the end of the first week of february. enjoy the warmth while we have it! our top story this morning ... investigators will continue searching for more evidence today in the case of 13-year old nicole lovell. police discovered her remains saturday after the blacksburg teen had been missing for several days. as we've reported nicole was last seen at her home in blacksburg between midnight and seven a-m wednesday. since then...officers from seven agencies ...including the f- b-i..focused on a one mile radius around nicole's home. in saturday's news conference ...authorities delivered the news no one wanted to hear. they say they found the teen's body in surry county north carolina....near the state's border blacksburg police chief anthony

remains were discovered around 4 o'clock on saturday afternoon near route 89. 18-year old david eisenhauer, a freshman at virginia tech, is in police custody in connection to nicole's disappearance. eisenhauer is now charged with felony abduction and first degree murder. he is currently being held in the montgomery county jail without bond. wilson says eisenhauer's arrest more clues. chief anthony wilson, blacksburg police: 00:27:19 "this investigation is far from over, as we continue to conduct multiple interviews. we're processing additional evidence related to this crime. the focus of this investigation is to now reconstruct the timeline leading up to nicole's tragic death." police say at this time, eisenhauer has not confessed to the crime. lovell's remains are being transported to the medical examiner in roanoke. news of her death and eisenhaurs arrest sent shockwaves through the community. blacksburg mayor ron rordam is speaking out. in a statement he says quote "as a

unbearable loss for the lovell i community, on occasion the town and the virginia tech community have suffered this." rordam went on to thank all law enforcement involved in the investigation and extend his condolences to the family of nicole lovell. dozens gather to show support to the family and friends of nicole lovell. "justice for children without voices" held a prayer vigil for the 13-year old. the community initially came together with hopes of lovell returning home safely, but that changed. wsls ten duke carter has the story. about 75 people came here the to lantern ridge neighborhood to offer support for nicole lovell's family pastor mike honaker of river of life church in dublin spoke words of encouragement during

authorities say it happened saturday morning in the 79-hundred block of westcliff drive. police say the victim, 43-year old sonya hunter was found on the ground outside her home suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. she was taken to sentara norfolk general hospital where she later died. her son is in police custody and is being charged with second degree murder and the use of a firearm by a felon. the incident remains under investigation. in what's news today .... carroll county hosts its special olympics basketball classic today in hillsville. it's happening at carroll county middle school. tip off is at two this afternoon. more than 400 community members are expected to attend the exciting event. and starting today... lane closures in botetourt county are scheduled on route-11. lanes off of interstate 81 at exit 150 will be closed for a pipe replacement. motorists should watch for

you can also check our website wsls.com for updates. this morning ... an ohio man is facing charges after police say he traveled to have sex with a minor. authorities have arrested old joel wright. according to federal investigators, wright's arrest investigation. reports state the first-year seminary student engaged in frequent email messages, indicating his interest in sexually assaulting children between the ages of one and four. the last two escaped orange county inmates are now back in police custody after more than one week of searching. california authorities captured 37-year old hosseing nayeri and 20-year old jonthan tieu saturday after they were found in a stolen van. a woman called police after seeing a van matching the description of the vehicle that was reportedly stolen by the inmates.

children safely," "now supporters are sending their condolences to the family, in blacksburg dc wsls ten," the search is now over this morning for nicole. rescue crews and loved ones searched each day since the 13- year old went missing earlier this week. here's a look back at how the investigation first started. police say lovell was last seen around midnight tuesday at her family's apartment. her mother believes she disappeared wednesday morning. family members say she's in danger because she has to take medication twice a day after having a liver transplant. with that in mind...law enforcement agencies along with organizations like help save the next girl spent much of this week searching endlessly for the teen. news of her disapperance spread across social media reaching tens of thousands of people.

straight street ministries says it plans to have more events during the year in efforts to combat the issue of human trafficking. more than 100 people came together to raise awareness about human trafficking. the event happened at straight street ministries in roanoke. it included a short film and a parent - children discussion about the dangers of online predators. straight street wants to educate the public on trafficking and provide shelter for victims. the organization's director says human trafficking is not only a problem for young girls. deanna wallace from homeland security was the guest speaker at the event. a norfolk woman is dead after being shot by her son. authorities say it happened 79-hundred block of westcliff drive. police say the victim, 43-year old sonya hunter was found on the ground outside her home wounds. she was taken to sentara norfolk general hospital where she later

tuesday taking temperatures back to the upper 40s and this morning ... the investigation into 13-year old nicole lovell's death continues. police discovered lovell's remains saturday afternoon around four p-m on route-89 in surry county near the virginia and north carolina border. authorities say 18-year old david eisenahuer is being charged in connection to lovell's abduction and death. eisenhauer is a freshman at virginia tech. he is being held without bond at the montgomery county jail. we will continue our coverage on this investigation this evening at six as police continue searching for more clues. you can also check our website wsls.com for updates. turning to national headlines this morning ... an ohio man is facing charges after police say he traveled to california with the intent to have sex with a minor.

23-year old joel wright. according to federal investigators, wright's arrest comes after a months long investigation. reports state the first-year seminary student engaged in frequent email messages, indicating his interest in sexually assaulting children between the ages of one and four. the last two escaped orange county inmates are now back in police custody after more than one week of searching. california authorities captured 37-year old hosseing nayeri and 20-year old jonthan tieu saturday after they were found in a stolen van. a woman called police after seeing a van matching the description of the vehicle that was reportedly stolen by the inmates. when police approached the van, one prisoner fled while the other attempted to hide inside. meanwhile, sheriff sandra hutchens says there's an increase in security at the jail since the inmates' escape. certainly our focus was getting these individuals back into custody as quickly as

celebrity friends. back here in the star city, a local fraternity is working to help people in flint michigan during the water crisis. the gamma alpha chapter of omega psi phi fraternity inc and que house, a community based organization's, water drive is officially underway. the non-profit is collecting cases of bottled water to send to flint michigan. collection times will be tomorrow through friday from 10 am to one pm. the chapter says they feel it's their duty to help those in a time of crisis. fraternity member mike hamlar says they hope to be able to fill a semi- tractor trailer by friday february 26th. they are still looking for a means to transport the water, and monetary donations to the cause. some people are not happy about the circus in town this weekend. this is the 58th year the shrine circus has come to the roanoke valley. those who attended today's event were greeted by protestors. demonstrators say they are taking a stand and want to raise awareness about what they call -
