zibton. i'm kristina montuori. flash flood watch in effect through 6 pm this evening for our counties boarding the blue ridge parkway today: overcast with heavy rain, even a few storms. warmer with highs in the middle 60s. a few of the storms could be on the strong side east of the parkway during the afternoon hours. we will could see anywhere between 0.5-1.5" of rain before all is said and done, which story out of rocky mount... as the police department investigates the suspicious death of an infant. charges could be filed as early as today-- once an autopsy is completed. rocky mount police were called last night.. when carilion police examined 24- year-old "katherine dellis." she recently gave birth.. but dellis denied the birth had happened. police issued a search warrant for her home on "ann sink

where investigators found evidence of the birth. after learning someone threw away bedding at franklin county dumpster sites... a baby was found in a dumpster at the blackwater refuse collection site on route 220. the baby was pronounced dead at the scene. medical examiners are performing an autopsy today... and police may decide to file charges. we'll continue to follow this story and have the latest on our website, wsls- dot-com... and tonight beginning at five p-m. # new at noon... lawyers for natalie keepers have filed paperwork to request bond for the woman facing charges related to the stabbing death of 13- year-old nicole lovell. in a letter to the clerk... john robertson writes that he has been retained as council.... along with kristopher olin. the letter goes on to say the attorneys were withdrawing a would contact the office to confirm a request. without bond. # the investigation into

nicole lovell's death continues... yesterday... the montgomery county commonwealth's attorney said the preliminary autopsy shows the teen was stabbed. virginia tech student david eisenhauer is accused of kidnapping and murder. the second student... natalie keepers was originally charged with helping him get rid of the body... but authorities now say she was involved before nicole died. we still don't know how the three met.... but the washington post reports their connection may be through social media. they say the 7th grader was active on a forum called "teen dating and flirting." according to the post... the night she disappeared... nicole showed a friend text messages from an 18-year-old man she said she was planning to meet. as investigators search for more clues -- lovell's family is left heartbroken. tammy weeks/victim's mother: "nicole was a very lovable person. nicole touched many people throughout her short life. if convicted on all counts -- both could face life in prison.# there is a visitation tonight...

mccoy funeral home in blacksburg. her funeral is tomorrow at three. # people who live nearby say the case stunned this normally quiet and friendly community. many people can't believe someone from the virginia tech murder. with two students now in jail ... other students are jeremy ritell / lives in nicole's neighborhood " it's a shame for me it is just guessed" sonali punj - senior biology major "i feel that people are more caution not that they heard of something that resulted in a poor 13 year olds death. on monday.. police were called to the 2- hundred block of mount vernon avenue.. where 49-year-old doctor randolph neal was walking home... when two men walked up and demanded money. he was shot several times... before the suspects took off. doctor neal is recovering in the hospital. a second person was shot in the 100 block of virginia avenue. that person has been treated and released. # opening statements are expected today... in the murder trial of waynesboro reserve police captain kevin quick. quick was reported missing in february 2014. his body was found a week later in goochland county. investigators say quick was shot in the head. six suspected gang members are facing charges.. four of them are charged in the murder of quick... while the other two are accused of being the gang's ring leaders in the racketeering conspiracy. 87 people were brought back in tuesday for phase two of jury selection... and it took nearly seven hours to narrow down to twelve jurors... and a couple alternates. this trial is expected to last three to four weeks. #

searching for more information after someone caused thousands of dollars in damage at a furniture plant. investigators say someone broke into the vaughn-bassett plant overnight. tanks that store stains.. paint.. and lacquers were damaged. the plant is closed today.. and it may take several days to clean up. police say this is a "very active investigation." # a roanoke man is behind bars this afternoon... for trying to burglarize a church. last night... police were called to "roanoke valley baptist temple"... where they found 27-year-old "angelo fuller" trying to use a cinder block to force his way into the church. fuller faces several charges... including breaking and entering... and giving false information to police... when he tried to give officers the wrong name. he was also served with three unrelated outstanding warrants. # as politicians continue to focus their efforts on new hampshire ahead of next week's primary election...

doctor rand paul dropped out of the race for the white house this morning. the kentucky senator is now expected to turn his full attention to his senate re- election campaign. and on the campaign trail-- donald trump still leads in a recent poll... up twenty five points on ted cruz after losing to the senator in iowa. donald trump/ r presidential candidate :21- :27 "had i known we could have finished number two maybe i would have spent more time there. i would have taken a day or two off from here." meanwhile... bernie sanders' campaign raised nearly three million dollars... after placing a very close second in iowa. # when it comes to heart attacks-- knowing when to get treatment is important. we talked to a doctor in the carilion roanoke memorial hospital emergency department... about symptoms people often mistake for a heart attack. dr. jack perkins, carilion roanoke memorial hospital emergency department 23:32:19 reflux is the number one miss diagnosed condition of a heart attack. people are trying to wrap their heads around reflux really? the burning, the belching and so forth yes
