prosecutors lay out alarming new details in the murder of 13 year old nicole lovell. commonwealth's attorney mary pettitt said natalie keepers killed someone she never met because she wanted to be part of something secret and special with david eisenhauer. the two are believed to have planned long before nicole disappeared .. even driving to wytheville to buy cleaning supplies. in court, pettitt said they planned to lure nicole out of her home under the guise of a date with eisenhauer. investigators believe the seventh grade girl and eisenhauer had an inappropriate relationship and that he plotted to kill her after she threatened to expose it. eisenhauer is charged with abduction and murder as police believe he lured lovell and then stabbed her to death. keepers is charged with accessory to murder. she has been denied bail. a date has not been set for eisenhauer's bail hearing.### a warning from police this morning... they are calling the social media app--- kik messenger dangerous. the app is a focus in the nicole

investigators believe the 7th grader... and the man they say murderered her... met on the app. kik enables you to message one- on-one... or in group chats... and remain relatively anonymous. those who use the app identify themselves only by their user name. adam s. lee / fbi special agent in charge, richmond "i'll tell you the spectrum from cyberbullying to exploitation all the way to overseas terrorist recruiting is happening on applications like this and social media sites." since the lovell murder -- kik created an updated guide for parents on its website. apple raised the app's age- appropriate rating from nine and older... to 12 and older. a company spokesman says kik is cooperating with the f-b-i. # the latest investigation details come as the middle schooler is laid to rest. family and friends gathered at mccoy funeral home in blacksburg to say their goodbyes to nicole lovell one final time thursday. the service lasted about 30 minutes. for complete coverage and the

story... visit our website wsls dot com.### in what's news today... thirty veterans and active-duty military members... all wounded in service... tackle the slopes at wintergreen resort in nelson county as part of wounded warrior weekend. they will learn new ways of skiing and snowboarding with special adaptive equipment. warriors from the fort belvoir warrior transition unit, and the va medical centers in virginia and north carolina will be there. four of the honored guests earned bronze stars... for bravery in combat. # a team of special needs cheerleaders will perform at tonight's rustburg high school basketball game. the eight girls... ranging in age from 12 to 19 make up the cheer squad--- super stars. the group is the only special needs competitive cheer team in the area. # sweet briar college president phillip stone and chair of the board of directors teresa tomlinson will hold a town hall meeting today at 4 p.m. with people from amherst county. they will provide an update on the college and take questions. a ribbon cutting takes place today

super bowl 50 is sunday and it looks like denver will have more fans in the stand than carolina. denver has nearly 1 and a half times more fans booking travel to california than carolina according to orbitz dot com. for those travelling, it isn't cheap. airfares from denver rose 113 percent and from charlotte .. those are up 64 percent. and

well. a room insanta clara is running $814 a night. in nearby san francisco it's $438 and san jose is $544. rooms are cheaper in redwood city .. only costing $98 a night.### a local couple is headed to the superbowl this weekend. now to a special super bowl version of whats trending today... last year's super bowl ads pulled on the heartstrings, while this year seems to offer more humor. "i cant live... i can't give anymore" heinz is using weiner dogs to deliver laughs... while skittles hopes star power hits the comedic sweet spot. that's been the most commonly used approach over the years. laughter is generally a crowd pleasure when it comes to the audience the super bowl attracts. but some ads can fall flat. time now for your timesaver traffic report. new this morning.. a richmond police officer has been indicted for second-degree murder... after he shot and killed a teenager last october. investigators say the officer was off duty at the time... and was having his car washed.. when a man... who didn't work for the gas station jumped into his car. officer "david cobb" approached the man... and told him to get out of the vehicle-- which led to a fight. during the fight... cobb shot

cobb turned himself in thursday. he's in jail without bond. # two new york city police officers are being treated at the hospital after they were shot and wounded in the bronx last night. police said the male and female officers were on patrol in a public housing complex when they were confronted by a man who shot them. one officer was hit in the face, the other in the abdomen, police said. both officers have only been with the n-y-p-d for two years. the suspect fled the scene and later shot and killed himself, according to police. ### after six months of violence... the c-e-o and president of the danville regional medical center wants to make the river city safer. he organized a prayer and neighborhood walk for tonight... following a recent shooting and armed robbery. alan larson says although police statistics show violent crime is down.. there have been more than 25 gunshot and stabbing victims in the e-r during the six months he's lived there. on monday night.. a double- shooting put doctor randolph neal in the hospital. doctor neal says he was shot

avenue... by two men who asked for money... before they took off. a second person was also shot on virginia avenue. that person has since been treated and released. so far no arrests have been made. there is a twenty-thousand dollar reward for information on the case. # people whose lives have been affected by gun violence took their fight for tougher gun control to the state capitol. the protestors .. which included barbara and andy parker .. came to richmond with a petition signed by 3-thousand people. the group opposes governor terry mcauliffe's compromise with republicans... which renewed virginia's concealed carry reciprocity with other states. andy parker/gun control activist "the question i would ask is, if it was a meaningful deal, why is it that the nra and their local minions are the only ones who are celebrating?" the governor defended his actions ... saying there is no evidence anyone with a concealed carry permit from another state has ever hurt anyone in virginia.# new this morning... national guard members in virginia are one step closer to carrying concealed

a bill passed the house yesterday... to allow national guard members to carry on military grounds. its in response to last year's shootings in chattanooga.... at a military recruiting center and a navy site. four marines... and one sailor died from the isis inspired attack. the lawmaker sponsoring the bill is a former navy seal. del. scott taylor, r-85th district: "i think if we can stop the partisan flame- throwing thats going on and actually talk and have some real dialogue, i think we can some make some progress on the underlying issues.." the legislation will now move on to the virginia senate. # new this morning... virginia national guard soldiers in lynchburg are preparing to go overseas. the first battalion of the 116th infantry regiment received their mobilization order thursday. their active duty starts may 13th and will last about a year. the guard soldiers will replace another virginia-based battalion that's currently conducting security operations

crime labs will begin processing more than 2- thousand untested rape kits in the commonwealth... some of which are nearly 30 years old. the attorney general's office will begin testing its backlog of thousands of untested rape kits... held by local law enforcement agencies. the testing comes thanks to a one-point-four million dollar grant. attorney general mark herring says it will identify predators... and show survivors the commonwealth stands with them. # international missions groups in the commonwealth are starting to feel the sting of mosquitos carrying the zika virus. the world pediatric projct in richmond provides medical care to thousands of children around the world.. many in countries affected by zika. many of those volunteers are changing their plans.. especially those around the age that they could get pregnant. "we have had a few volunteers decide not to travel this year and to postpone their involvement and we fully support that decision" health officials say the mosquito-borne virus is gaining momentum and is expected to reach every corner of the

democratic candidates are back to work in new hampshire today after their first one-on-one debate last night. bernie sanders and hillary clinton debated paying for campaigns.. and paying for free college and free healthcare. clinton also pushed back against the idea that she can't be tough on wall street because she's taken so much money from them. sot: hillary clinton/ d presidential candidate :12-:19 "you will not find that i ever changed a view or a vote because of any donation that i ever received." bump to: sot: bernie sanders/ d

"what we need to do is to stand up to the big money interests" their next debate is next thursday in wisconsin, after the primary. a house committee delayed a bill... to limit the personal use of campaign funds by virginia politicians. virginia has one of the least restrictive campaign finance systems in the country... only preventing lawmakers from using campaign funds for personal use... when they close out their accounts. an ethics commission made up of lawmakers recommended last year preventing the personal use of campaign money. but some argue that money is needed to perform official duties. # our wsls 10 cares food drive was a success! we're still calculating the exact numbers .. but so far we've collected about 15 thousand pounds thanks to your help. all the donations will go toward feeding america southwest virginia. it will help those right here in our community who struggle to put food on the table. we saw hundreds of you stop by

prosecutors lay out alarming new details in the murder of 13 year old nicole lovell. commonwealth's attorney mary pettitt said natalie keepers killed someone she never met because she wanted to be part of something secret and special with david eisenhauer. the two are believed to have planned long before nicole disappeared .. even driving to wytheville to buy cleaning supplies. in court, pettitt said they planned to lure nicole out of her home under the guise of a date with eisenhauer. investigators believe the seventh grade girl and eisenhauer had an inappropriate relationship and that he plotted to kill her after she threatened to expose it. eisenhauer is charged with abduction and murder as police believe he lured lovell and then stabbed her to death. keepers is charged with accessory to murder. she has been denied bail. a date has not been set for eisenhauer's bail hearing.### a warning from police this morning... they are calling the social media app--- kik messenger dangerous. the app is a focus in the

new this morning.. a richmond police officer has been indicted for second-degree murder... after he shot and killed a teenager last october. investigators say the officer was off duty at the time... and was having his car washed.. when a man... who didn't work for the gas station jumped into his car. officer "david cobb" approached the man... and told him to get out of the vehicle-- which led to a fight. during the fight... cobb shot 18-year-old paterson brown. cobb turned himself in thursday. he's in jail without bond. # two new york city police officers are being treated at the hospital after they were

police said the male and female officers were on patrol in a public housing complex when they were confronted by a man who shot them. one officer was hit in the face, the other in the abdomen, police said. both officers have only been with the n-y-p-d for two years. the suspect fled the scene and later shot and killed himself, according to police. ### after six months of violence... the c-e-o and president of the danville regional medical center wants to make the river city safer. he organized a prayer and neighborhood walk for tonight... following a recent shooting and armed robbery. alan larson says although police statistics show violent crime is down.. there have been more than 25 gunshot and stabbing victims in the e-r during the six months he's lived there. on monday night.. a double- shooting put doctor randolph neal in the hospital. doctor neal says he was shot several times on mount vernon avenue... by two men who asked for money... before they took off. a second person was also shot on virginia avenue. that person has since been treated and released. so far no arrests have been made. there is a twenty-thousand dollar reward for information

people whose lives have been affected by gun violence took their fight for tougher gun control to the state capitol. the protestors .. which included barbara and andy parker .. came to richmond with a petition signed by 3-thousand people. the group opposes governor terry mcauliffe's compromise with republicans... which renewed virginia's concealed carry reciprocity with other states. andy parker/gun control activist "the question i would ask is, if it was a meaningful deal, why is it that the nra and their local minions are the only ones who are celebrating?" the governor defended his actions ... saying there is no evidence anyone with a concealed carry permit from another state has ever hurt anyone in virginia.# new this morning... national guard members in virginia are one step closer to carrying concealed handguns at certain facilities. a bill passed the house yesterday... to allow national guard members to carry on military grounds. its in response to last year's shootings in chattanooga.... at a military recruiting center and a navy site.

donald trump in the lead... but marco rubio is gaining ground... ted cruz came in third. a house committee delayed a bill... to limit the personal use of campaign funds by virginia politicians. virginia has one of the least restrictive campaign finance systems in the country... only preventing lawmakers from using campaign funds for personal use... when they close out their accounts. an ethics commission made up of lawmakers recommended last year preventing the personal use of campaign money. but some argue that money is needed to perform official duties. # our wsls 10 cares food drive was a success! we're still calculating the exact numbers .. but so far we've collected about 15 thousand pounds thanks to your help. all the donations will go toward feeding america southwest virginia. it will help those right here in our community who struggle to put food on the table. we saw hundreds of you stop by each of our five locations... in blacksburg... lynchburg... cave
