martese johnson thrown out. court documents indicate the defendants filed an expedited motion to strike. lawyers for the defendants say the lawsuit was changed beyond what a judge instructed johnson's attorneys during a hearing last month. johnson is suing virginia a-b-c... its director... and three agents involved in his bloody arrest. dollars. # a former bedford police officer is scheduled to appear in court today after being indicted on six felonies for pornography. 54-year-old brian mcalexander is hearing. investigators says mcalexander was the target of an investigation centered around file sharing programs. according to indictments, he is being investigated for six videos - some of which involve children as young as nine years old. mcalexander was with the bedford police department for more than 25 years.### happening today--- one of the suspects charged in connection to the disappearance of the lyon sisters is scheduled to appear in court in bedford county. court records show leslie engleking is expected to

gladys stangee and amy welch- johnson have already faced a judge on obstruction of justice charges. engleking waived his right to a preliminary hearing. katherine and sheila lyon went missing from a maryland mall 40-years ago. it's believed they were eventually brought to bedford county. # a woman charged in connection with the murder of a roanoke man is expected to enter a guilty plea today. brea ann belcher is expected to appear before a judge today in roanoke circuit court. she was scheduled for a jury trial until it was continued. belcher is charged with being an accessory after the fact... relating to geoffrey ndwiga's murder. ndiwga's body was found at the rodeway inn on orange avenue last june..### in what's news today... danville city council explores bringing solar energy to the city. the project is an effort to reduce costs... by decreasing congestion... and additional transmission charges. council members will also consider adopting an ordinance to increase the number of police officers by four... up to one hundred 35. they say increasing the

roanoke city crews have turned their attention to storm drains. they've plowed the roads and areas near curbs so that water can trickle below. the director says .. if you are out shovelling your sidewalk .. it's important not to pile snow on the storm drains because it can freeze and prevent water from moving off the roads. from moving off the roads. from moving off the roads. bob bengston, public works director: "we would certainly discourage snow anywhere storm drains, but anyone who has the opportunity themselves to clear that, we

good morning. thank you for joining us for virginia today on w-s-l-s. i'm... and i'm... danville police say icy road conditions causes seven accidents in the city overnight. even as temperatures rise, road crews say it will take time for road conditions to improve. police urge you to stay home unless you absolutely have to travel. power lines and tree limbs became covered with ice beginning around 7:30 last night as rain fell and froze. this morning, a city utilities spokesperson reports widespread power outages throughout the city. jason grey/utilities director:"we take the greatest number of outages and try to work those first. the more people we can get restored first is where we target." grey says the last time the city saw power outages due to a winter storm was february 20th of last year when about 2500 people

it took about three days to get everyone's power back on.### despite warnings to stay off the roads, there were still several cars out on the snow and ice in roanoke county. this is good for business for local repair shops. staff at the roanoke auto service center say they've towed several vehicles. others had mechanical issues. they say this cold weather can cause car troubles. kyle dudley / roanoke auto service center: 6:11:29 "it's been stranger we've had two alternators go out today. i don't know if it is because of the cold. i know it is hard on them. i also know driving in the snow the last time it snowed. we had to put in 3 transmissions after it so if you are out driving and jerking around on it be careful." if you do have to travel...police are reminding people over the " move over" law. be aware of your surrounds and move to the side when you see stopped emergency vehicles and tow trucks on the road.. people in florida are cleaning up

(man) this is where it all started. i received a call from our dispatch center. smoke was coming from a manhole, and that's not good. we entered the manhole. we discovered that the cables had been melted by the fire. we jumped in, we got to work, and in a little over eight hours, we had the power back on. hi, i'm john snyder, distribution system supervisor for appalachian power. it's my goal to keep the lights on and everything run smoothly, and no one even notices. bringing solar energy to the city. the project is an effort to reduce costs... by decreasing congestion... and additional transmission charges. council members will also consider adopting an ordinance to increase the number of police officers by four... up to one hundred 35. they say increasing the number of positions... will help reduce crime. there have been multiple shootings in the last couple weeks. # the franklin county board of supervisors will discuss money for school buses. the school board is asking for $3-hundred 40-thousand dollars to replace three buses... and one special education bus. # roanoke city council meets this afternoon to honor several community leaders. they will pay tribute to roanoke city police chief chris perkins who plans to retire next month. crime rates dropped almost every year he was employed. civil rights leader "al holland" will also be recognized. he worked at norfolk and western railroad for 46 years and was named citizen of the year in 2003. council members will also salute the career of legendary virginia tech head football coach frank beamer.

continues our live team coverage from roanoke county... erin, hows it looking? warmer temperatures and rain on top of the snow.. has some worried about flooding. roanoke city crews have turned their attention to storm drains. they've plowed the roads and areas near curbs so that water can trickle below. the director says .. if you are out shovelling your sidewalk .. it's important not to pile snow on the storm drains because it can freeze and prevent water

from moving off the roads. bob bengston, public works director: "we would certainly discourage snow anywhere in the street or in front of the storm drains, but anyone who has the opportunity themselves to clear that, we certainly welcome that assistance." crews tell us they will clear blocked storm drains as needed to prevent water backup on the roads. if you do have to head out this morning.. we're seeing the potential for black ice and flooding. be sure to use your headlights--if your windshield wipers are on, it's state law to have your headlights on too. of course-- slow down. slower speeds make it easier to drive on slick and wet roads. we say it all the time-- but never drive through standing water, what looks like a puddle could be much deeper. finally-- always buckle up and never drive distracted. bug if you're heading out this morning.. be on the lookout for

thank you for joining us for virginia today on w-s-l-s. i'm... jenna zibton. and i'm... patrick mckee. in the allegheny highlands... the accumulation was lighter than expected, but packed snow on roads and ice are still making driving treacherous. driving treacherous. w-s-l-s 10's rob manch is in covington this morning... rob, tell us what it's like out there?### i'll tell you what i wouldn't want to drive in this mess. the rain is coming down pretty hard at this point which means low visibility for cars on the road. vo: vdot has already reported a minor accident that happened on interstate 64 in allegheny county earlier this morning around 2-30 that has the right shoulder closed. so definitely be careful if you have to make it out this morning.

for those vdot crews that have been battling this storm since yesterday. it is washing all the salt and brine solution off the roads, so like you said if the temperature drops below freezing, ice could be a major concern. tag: of course we will continue to keep you updated this morning on conditions here in the covington area, but just like yesterday, if you conditions causes seven accidents in the city overnight. even as temperatures rise, road crews say it will take time for road conditions to improve. police urge you to stay home unless you absolutely have to travel. power lines and tree limbs became covered with ice beginning around 7:30 last night as rain fell and froze. this morning, a city utilities spokesperson reports widespread
