house that had been hit with bullets but no one was hurt. police say there are no suspects at this time. if you have any information, you're asked to call police. ### the accused ring leader of the gang said to be at the center of kevin quick's murder is once again on the witness stand today in roanoke federal court. defense attorneys started calling witnesses for the first time thursday. testimony centered around alleged gang ring-leader halisi uhuru. 4 suspects are charged in connection with quick's death, however the alleged gang leader and another suspect are not charged in the murder ... a racketeering conspiracy. the leader claims he had no idea about the murder. quick was reported missing in february of 2014. his body was found a week later in goochland county.### new at noon .. we now know the trial date for a former bedford police officer indicted on child pornography charges. brian mcalexander's jury trial is scheduled for august 23rd. he faces six felonies and is currently being held without bond. the

the documents say mcalexander is being investigated for involve old. ### the so called "affluenza" teen will be moved to an adult jail. a judge made the decision in juvenile court today. this means 18 year old ethan couch will spend up to four months in jail then finish his year probation. transferred before couch turns 19 in april. he was extradited from mexico last month. he was sentenced to probation for killing four ### maryland's supreme court agrees to hear a key issue in the freddie gray trial. the issue of whether to force officer against the other baltimore police officers charged in the case. mistrial retrial. the other officer's trials will be delayed until a decision is made regarding porter's testimony.

begin in march. freddie gray died last april after his neck was broken when placed in the back of a police van. gray was not wearing a seat belt. ### the nation pays its respects to one of the most influential members of the supreme court. justice antonin scalia lies in of the supreme court building. president and mrs. obama ... lawmakers and the public will pay their respects throughout the day. justice scalia's funeral takes place tomorrow. ### things are shaking up in the race for the white house ... as republican presidential candidates gear up for primary. according to an nbc news wall street journal poll ... donald trump remains the front runner in the state. trump is getting 28 percent of the support from primary voters while ted cruz is just five points behind. marco rubio rounds up the top three despite his endorsement from south carolina governor nikki haley. marco rubio / r presidential

can bring us together. i know that i can better than anyone in this race. i will bring this party and this movement together so that we can begin the work of growing our movement." things are heating up on the other side of the aisle as democrats hillary clinton and bernie sanders face off tomorrow in nevada's primary. ### virginia residents donated at least seven million dollars to presidential candidates in 2015. according to the virginia public access project ... hillary clinton and jeb bush took in the most cash. clinton received over two million dollars while bush got nearly 1 point three million. bernie sanders brought in about 263 thousand dollars. while marco rubio came in second in the g- o-p with 666 thousand dollars. the state's presidential primary is march first. ### the virginia department of health says there are now three cases of the zika virus in the commonwealth. the centers for disease control and prevention confirmed that all of those infected have traveled to countries where the virus is known to spread.

borne zika cases have been reported in u.s., but several cases have been reported in u.s. territories, including puerto rico and the virgin islands. the virus is spreading rapidly through latin america and is suspected of causing a devastating birth defect.### flint michigan will receive extra money to replace its lead water pipes. the deteriorating pipes contributed to the contamination of the city's drinking water supply. two million dollars from the state's distressed cities fund will go toward the project. gov. rick snyder / r michigan - "we've done our approval process now they just have to do their approvals and respond in terms of giving us the appropriate information, but that frees up two million dollars which could mean several hundred lead service line replacements." the state's house has voted on legislation to help people in flint. the bill provides 30 million dollars toward paying resident's water bills. the measure is headed to the senate then the governor. 65 percent of bills used toward drinking water will be paid by the

light snow & ice possible with highs in the upper 30s and lower 40s wednesday: passing rain showers light snow & ice possible with highs in the upper 30s and lower 40s sunny with highs in the upper classmates to cancer over the past several months.. students at cave spring high school are giving back in their honor. a blood drive for students and faculty is underway today .. honoring kendall bayne and hannah bryant. w-s-l-s 10's erin brookshier has more. ### the blood drive is just a few hours away.. and it's an event that has gotten a big reaction from students over the past week. today's drive is only for cave spring students and staff-- as a way for them to remember their classmates.. and heal. vo it comes just a few weeks after 20--15 graduate, hannah bryant, lost her battle with cancer back in january.

honor of kendall bayne.. who passed away in october after fighting a rare form of cancer for nearly five years. as she went through treatment.. her fellow classmates.. students from other schools.. and the entire community rallied around kendall-- raising money to help with medical bills. the goal was to have 60 students donate.. and already 102 have signed up. her brother connor, says his family appreciates the help and is grateful for the continued support. sot kendall had several blood transfusions and she was always just so thankful that people were willing to donate their blood to help her and to help save people's lives. bump to sot this is a great way for students to give back, an honor drive for kendall and hannah because both students had to have a lot of blood products. so this raises awareness for cancer patients and why it's so important to donate blood. continue vo this drive is only for cave spring high school students-- but another public blood drive in their honor is in the works for mid-may. a non-profit in honor of

$20 per person with samplings taking place at noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on saturday. botetourt county holds the first ever disc golf ice bowl saturday at the greenfield disc golf course. it's a day of disc golf no matter what the weather looks like. the entry fee is $20. registration starts at 8 a.m. and closes at 10 a.m. there will be raffles and prizes given away. proceeds from the event go to the roanoke rescue mission. dinosaurs invade the berglund special events center this weekend at jurassic quest. more than fifty life-sized animated dinosaurs will be there to bring fun for all ages. tickets start at $19. the event is today from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and sunday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. head to the salem civic center this weekend for the vhsl wresting championships. athletes from division 1a, 2a, 3a and 4a school will compete. the meets are friday at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.

michaels arts and crafts is recalling nearly half a million artificial poinsettias due to a risk of mold exposure. the recall involves ashland artificial poinsettia flowers sold in stems and bushes. the company is also recalling ashland holiday paper boxes. both products were sold last october and november. customers can return the items for a full refund. ### apple users beware ... the company is recalling 895 thousand a-c adapter kits and plug adapters due to an

the recall involves apple world travel adapter kits and wall plug adapters. the products can break and expose the metal portion of the adapter ... posing an electric shock risk. apple has received dozens of reports of these incidents contact apple for a free replacement. ### meaning to chicken and waffles. the company is testing what it calls the chicken mcgriddle. it's a fried chicken patty surrounded by a pair of maple syrupy sweet buns. the item is being tested at various locations in ohio. ### now for a look at stories making headlines in the entertainment world... award winning author haper lee has died. she was 89. according to publisher haper collins ... lee died peacefully thursday. no other details about her death have been given at this time. lee is known for her pulitzer price winning novel "to kill a mockingbird."
