his arrest is in connection to the january shooting death of benjamin baker in rockingham county. baker was found dead in his eden home from an apparent gunshot wound after failing to show up for work. 18-year-old daquarius martin of martinsville and zachary haley of axton are also charged.### a lynchburg teen who was critically injured in a high profile drunk driving crash last fall has died. according to her social media support page ... ivy adkins died on saturday. a celebration of life will be held wednesday at lynchburg first church of nazarene. a scholarship fund will be set in her memory. adkins and her cousin natalie matthews were badly injured in october... when the car they were riding in crashed in forest. investigators say they were riding with 19-year-old "christian riddle" who was driving a stolen car. he's facing crimincal charges related to the accident. a grand jury is scheduled to take up his case tuesday. # tomorrow people across the nation will be making their pick for who will represent their political parties for

ahead of the super tuesday vote, presidential hopeful donald trump visits the commonwealth today -- speaking at radford university. he's not the only candidate making a trip to the commonwealth. w-s-l-s 10's erin brookshier joins us live from radford this morning... erin have people started lining up yet? ### the event is just a few hours away.. and over the past few days, lots of excitement on radford university's campus. tickets went on sale last week.. and quickly sold out.. the deadmon center, a basketball arena on campus will hold 38-hundred people for today's speech. doors will open at ten a-m... when students can begin going through security and head inside. we're expecting students to begin lining up ahead of time-- as it's been a several years since the new river valley was last visited by a presidnetial hopeful. back in 20-12... vice president joe biden made stops at radford and virginia tech... president barack obama.. and

romney and paul ryan all visited the roanoke valley. many hope that events like this will get student excited... and bring them out to vote tomorrw. i hope that when students get excited about a particular candidate or particular issue that it transfers to general excitement about the process even if their candidate doesn't win or the issue doesn't go they way they'd like. i hope that transfers to more excitement for the system in general. trump was in alabama last night.. and following today's georgia to continue campaigning ahead of super tuesday. coming up in our next half hour, more on the mixed reaction the campaign event is getting from

marco rubio held a rally at roanoke college sunday night after making several stops throughout virginia ahead of super tuesday. he talked about his family and how his parents came from cuba wanting the american dream. he about discussed issues and policies which include improving our military, saving social security, and getting rid of obamacare. the republican presidential hopeful also targeted his party's front- runner saying that donald trump is scamming the american people. marco rubio: "i will campaign in this election if i have to go to all 50 states if i have to go to every territory in this country if i have to get in my pick up truck and drive to the states that remain. i will never allow the conservative movement to be taken over by a con artist" nearly 23- hundred people attended. rubio made several other stops around virginia including richmond and virginia beach.### the "roanoke county schools

out thousands of dollars every year to students and teachers. since 1991... they've given out nearly $2 million dollars in grants and scholarships to students and teachers. the non-profit is gearing up for it's third annual "backpack run".. 5-k race. the group gave out about $60- thousand dollars in scholarships for seniors... and about $20- thousand in classroom grants last year.... to help teachers pay for things like fun reading books in the classroom. they're trying to give out even more money. chuck lionberger, roanoke county schools spokesperson 8:48:52 we want to try and encourage our students to be successful and success is not just in the classroom. success is also in life and being healthy. we wanted to provide an event where we could encourage healthy activity among our entire community 08 the backpack run is named because of an extra challenge you can take. buy a brand new backpack... fill it with school supplies... and run with it. everything will be donated to students in need. the 5-k is next month... at green hill park. you can register online... we've put

in what's news today... if you live in roanoke county... you're encouraged to attend a focus group tonight. the groups will work with the board of supervisors and county staff... to help create a community strategic plan. goals and objectives outlined by the groups will be used to shape the future strategic direction for the next several years. focus group topics include health... education... public safety... and quality of life. # lynchburg's water resources department will conduct maintenance on water valves in downtown starting today. crews will do most of the work at night to avoid disruptions. if your water becomes discolored, water crews say to run the cold water for three to five minutes to allow the water to clear up. work is expected to wrap up by the end of the week. fleet feet sports hosts karl meltzer tonight. he's an ultrarunner, having taken part in 121 ultramarathons and 12 trail marathons. there's a meet and greet tonight starting at six. meltzer will then talk about his journey and answer questions. an

the happiest place on earth may take a hit on your wallet. disney's properties in both orlando and anaheim are releasing their seasonal prices for single day tickets. the changes will let visitors look at a calendar in advance... to see which days are value ... regular... or peak. value days in florida cost 105 dollars ... regular days increase by five bucks... and peak days will cost 124 dollars. in california ... value days will cost 95 dollars ... regular tickets 105 dollars... and peak days 119 dollars. they say annual pass prices will not change... but multi day ticket prices will increase disney hopes its "surge pricing" will -- quote -- "help spread out visitation." #

look at the biggest social networking, online and technology talkers. the internet is once again divided in a color controversy... the social media debate is over the color of this adidas jacket. some say the jacket is white and blue - while others see it as black and brown. the california teen who posted the photo says the official color of the coat is blue and white. coincidentally, the debate over the jacket surfaced just in time for the one- year anniversary of when "the dress," another infamous clothing color conundrum, went viral.

the 88th academy awards. the biggest award, best picture .. went to "spotlight". the film about the boston globe's investigation into the catholic priest abuse scandal also won best original screenplay. "the revenant" was another big winner... taking home an award for best director which was a rare back to back win for alejandro irritu and leonardo dicaprio finally took home an oscar in the best actor category. it was his first academy award win after 6 nominations.

expected in court today. active sergeant ronald hamilton--- an army staff sergeant assigned to the pentagon--- has been accused of killing two people. he is charged with multiple counts of murder and malicious wounding. hamilton reportedly opened fire on prince william county officers... as they approached a home... responding to a domestic dispute call. three officers were critically wounded. rookie officer ashley guindon later died from her injuries... investigators say hamilton also killed his wife. officer guindon was sworn in friday--- and was working her first field shift --- when she was killed. ken johnson, high school principal:"the irony is a bit overwhelming, a kid who gives her life to community service has her life taken on the first day, its just not right" last night hundreds of people gathered at a vigil in her honor. chief hudson says officer guindon started with the department as an intern... before joining the police academy. # roanoke county police will

about friday's officer involved shooting. according to a county spokesperson ... a news conference is scheduled for later this morning. the shooting happened near the walgreens at brambelton avenue and electric road. the suspect involved died friday night at the hospital. no officers were hurt. ### an investigation is underway... after an officer involved shooting in salt lake city, utah. it was a chaotic scene over the weekend... as two officers fired their service weapons... while responding to a call for an assault. police have not released many details about what led up to the shooting. witnesses say a teen was shot.... and he was arguing with another person... when police arrived. police have not released any other details. # an ohio pastor has died after being shot during a church service sunday morning. william schooler had just walked back to the pulpit inside zion baptist church when the shooter got out of a pew and followed him. witnesses say they heard a couple of shots while the choir was singing, and it quickly became chaotic when everyone started running.

with an anti- corrosive agent... which was required by federal law... in response to those emails. # cleanup efforts continue today in appomattox county after last week's e-f-3 tornado. while many people are still trying to process what happened .. an evergreen church service is providing hope. during the sermon --- the pastor offered words of encouragement. he says it's best to rely on a higher power especially after a natural disaster. good morning. thank you for joining us for virginia today on w-s-l-s. i'm... patrick mckee. and i'm... jenna zibton. the death toll from a double bombing in eastern baghdad has climbed to 73. police and health officials say several of the critically wounded died overnight... while 112 people remain in hospital. authorities say the first bomb ripped through the crowded market in a shiite district of the city. minutes later... a suicide bomber blew himself up... amid the crowd that had gathered at the site of the first bombing. isis has claimed responsibility for the attack. the attack was the deadliest in a wave of recent explosions that have targeted commercial areas.# a member of the famed seal team six will receive the medal of honor today. senior chief edward byers, jr. was part of a hostage rescue mission operation in afghanistan in

he and his team rescued a doctor who had been kidnapped by the taliban. byers is from ohio and has already earned two purple hearts after he was wounded in combat and five bronze stars for heroism. defense department leaders say byers is the first living seal to receive the medal of honor since the vietnam war. byers says it wasnt until he spoke to president barack obama that the honor became a reality. edward byers jr., navy seal, medal of honor recipient: "it wasn't until he called and i got to speak to him that. and he said, "congratulation s. i looked at your reward and i'm approving you to receive the congressional medal of honor." that's when it's like - ok, this is real." the doctor who was rescued said byers gave him "a second chance in life." byers will be the 11-th living service member to receive the medal of honor for actions in afghanistan.### a former fire chief of bath county is receiving recognition statewide. chief woody henderson was named virginia fire chief of the year.

an ohio pastor has died after being shot during a church service sunday morning. william schooler had just walked back to the pulpit inside zion baptist church when the shooter got out of a pew and followed him. witnesses say they heard a couple of shots while the choir was singing, and it quickly became chaotic when everyone started running. more than 20 people were inside the church at the time. alberta blayth / church member - "he got up and went back in our pastor's office and then i heard two shots. wasn't a minute and i heard two shots. and so i just got everybody out of the church and we just kept hearing shooting and shooting. bang bang bang."butted loretta smith, church member: "then we heard pa pow pa pow pa pow. that's when everybody started running.
