the nba finals.nba finals. breaking news. donald trump won the south carolina republican primary. >> i want to begin by thanking the people of south carolina. this is a special state. >> new at 11:00, we have live team coverage of the commanding victory and what happens next. >> donald trump has 32.5% of the vote. it's still a very close rate for second right now. between marco rubio and ted cruz. rubio has 22.5%, cruz has 22.2%. in the last two hours, jeb bush announced he's suspending his campaign for president. thanks for joining us tonight, i'm liz foster. our election team coverage starts with greg suskin live where trump gave a spirited victory speech.

witnesses say two men fired at least two shots inside clum mall. police quickly evacuated everybody in the mall to gatd are potential evidence. witnesses told police the shots were fired in the air creating chaos inside the mall. so far there are no reported victims. right now we're tracking fog and rain that could impact your meteorologist john ahrens is pinpointing how much rain you could see in your neighborhood. >> we're starting to see that fog develop inside the whidbey communities. we're going to see more visibility issues. less than a mile in charlotte and maybe next to nothing, period, 7:00 in the morning. so keep in

started, certainly take any kind of jog or church services, you're going to have poor visibility outside. but also some rain showers. rain especially up north of hunt ersville and the mountains. one thing we don't have to deal with, cold temperatures. pretty soon we're not going to be tracking just rain, but the cold. we'll pinpoint when that arrives. > the new information on tomorrow's rain and when it will fall in your neighborhood, watch sunday morning starting at 6:00. crews are investigating what started a fire near the rock bar and golf country club. three fire departments responded. firefighters say they were able to contain the fire to just one room. crews say it started outside then spread to the roof. nobody was hurt. alma adams spoke to channel 9 about the new congressional district maps approved by state lawmakers friday.

panel of judges ruled the old maps were racially biased and unconstitutional. the redrawn maps mostly impact distrukt 12, which is now a big chunk of -- district 12, which is now a big chunk of mecklenburg county. >> it doesn't mean i'm going to give any less attention, it's going to be more attention. the focus will be strictly on the 12 districts, wherever it is. >> we told you the supreme court refused to issue a stay in the case. in addition to the new maps, state lawmakers voted yesterday to move the congressional primary from march to june. thieves targeted two more local fire departments overnight. it's the latest in a series of break-ins we've been telling you about all week. this time suspects targeted huntersville and cornelius while

in the last two weeks thieves broke into cars at the fire stations all while firefighters were out on calls. >> they wake up in a moment's notice to any 911 call, and unfortunately it's happening when they're asleep or in some of the departments when they're in a call. >> so far they haven't announced any arrests. in a couple of days, thousands of converge on uptown for the ciaa double tournament at time warner cable arena. there will be extra security in place. >> reporter: well, liz, this tournament is expected to bring in tens of thousands of fans, but in recent years that also meant a series of events after the games were played. some marked by violence. >> ciaa is always one of those things where it's like whoa, is this really going on? it's mind

>> reporter: all of the signs point to another big weekend for charlotte. in just three days the annual tip off for college basketball ciaa tournament, an event that brings in millions of dollars for the city and is expected to draw in more than 100,000 fans. >> it's usually flooded with people. >> reporter: the event will also bring an increase in security. tonight i spoke with the supervisor for a private company off camera who told me they'll have even more officers on duty in areas surrounding the whole sight. >> i do come out to have fun. >> reporter: last year there were five arrests and responded to a shooting at an unofficial after party at a west charlotte nightclub. in 2014 the tournament came to a violent end after a shooting in an uptown hotel left fans scrambling for safety. the year before, police named the tournament an extra

we a back to breaking news, donald trump won the crucial south carolina republican primary tonight with a commanding lead. you can see trump won with 32.8%. march dough rubio and -- marco rubio and ted cruz are in second right now. meanwhile in nevada, hillary clinton beat bernie sanders. clinton had 52.6percent, sanders had 47.4%. both will now turn their attention to south carolina ahead of next saturday's

student manager. 19-year-old died in a car crash late thursday night in northern virginia. school officials say he was headed to washington, d.c. with friends when the vehicle he was riding in was hit by a tractor-trailer. the others in the car are okay. rainy was a student manager of the men's basketball team. tonight apple says the f.b.i. missed a big turpt to learn about one of the san bernardino shooters. investigators missed a chance to get access to sigh owed fa ruk's icloud account. it prevented a potential icloud back up that could have revealed further information. yesterday san bernardino county said it reset the icloud password at the f.b.i.'s request. john ahrens is tracking more rain heading our way for sunday. john. >> this is just as we finally

pretty dreary saturday at times. well, we're going to start to change things quickly. first things first, fog for tomorrow morning, we have poor visibility already showing up across places like china grove and in moresville. as we clear out the skies, we're develop a perfect recipe as low moisture sneaks in from the south. all that condenses and spills over as fog. in the next couple hours you'll still be able to get a good look at the skyline, but by about 6:00 or so, fog will begin to cover it. if you're going to morning church services or hanging out in the morning time get thing paper, you have about 50 to start things out. also, eventually rainfall. but looks like the best rain chances are going to be north of charlotte. if you live down south, matthews, rock hill, york, i think you're going to be okay. you live up in huntersville,

will be showers especially in the afternoon. this is just one of many opportunities for rain in the next couple days. it's going to be kind of hit and miss tomorrow and monday, more hits than misses tuesday into wednesday. we're holding on to that warmth. your five-day forecast will tell you that's not going to be too much longer. i think some showers by wednesday will drop those temperatures in the 50s and we'll be back in those wintry kind of numbers. but it will stay all liquid. by thursday it will brighten up and the chill will be back. so yeah, it's dreary and gray, but it's mild. you don't need the thick over coats. we just got an update on breaking news we're following in columbia, south carolina. police said columbia center mall is expected to reopen at noon tomorrow after shots were fired inside the mall tonight. right now police are investigating
