bike in the neighborhood on glen laurel drive. blake hanson talked to his family and his school all trying to understand how this happened. blake? >> reporter: erica, i talked to the boy's mother and she asked that we not use his name or picture. she is having an incredibly difficult time, and harrisburg elementary is having a difficult time, too where the boy was a beloved second grader beloved by all. as neighbors looked out to see the commotion last night, their hearts changed. >> it's a sick feeling. is it your child? or what's going to? >> reporter: highway patrol said moments earlier, a car was driving along glen laurel drive when the 8-year-old rode into the car. investigators say he didn't wear a helmet. his mom said that the boy's sister was outside and ran in

messages on our wsoctv facebook page. all lanes on i-85 are back open after a crash involving multiple trucks. we broke into programming to alert to you the traffic mess just past the catawba river bridge. the crash shut down 2 out of 4 lanes we're. we asked troopers what caused the crash and if anyone was seriously hurt. we have a 911 call that was made after gaston county police say that a young woman killed her husband and two other people. >> my sister-in-law has told her family that she killed her husband. she caught him sleeping with another woman. >> crystal gambino is charged with the murders of her husband, giovanni, geoffry gilliland, and stephanie sanchez.

we have continuing coverage at wsoctv.com and on our twitter and facebook pages. we'll send the latest updates throughout the day. new information on how police discovered a suspected meth lab at a home in northwest charlotte. a crime stopper's complaint jumpstarted the investigation at the home on mt. holly road. someone complained about a burn site. the warrant shows the complaint noted a very strong chemical odor coming from the property. investigators say it's common for meth manufacturers to try and burn the left over chemicals. that could be dangerous and cause an explosion. officers arrested two people inside the house, charged with manufacturing and trafficking meth. other people have been taken into custody and face lesser charges. police in rock hill are

stole an atm from the lobe in the middle of the day at the marriott courtyard at the river run court on monday. one person distracted the workers while the other wheeled it away through the back card to and got away in a burnt orange jeep. police are hoping to identify a woman who was found dead in north charlotte five year. they worked with anthropologists and created this sketch. she was possibly white or hispanic and in her 20s or 30s when she died wearing these shoes and shirt. in pageland, nearly every police officer walked off the force just hours after the town reinstated the police chief. tonight, eyewitness news reporter greg suskin is in

and asking what happens next? >> reporter: and nine of the 11 officers sworn to protect the city of pageland were not on the job after police chief brown was told he could come back. patrol cars sit parked and people in the town want to know what's going on. >> i'm hoping that when it comes out, it's the truth and not rumors. >> reporter: it hasn't come out yet. but town hall released a statement saying they couldn't comment on personnel issues but wanted to assure residents that appropriate law enforcement presence is maintained. those steps have forced chesterfield county sheriffs deputies to take over law enforcement. >> just never seen a police department just walk out. >> reporter: now, the sheriff is calling in extra deputies to cover despite having to patrol
