comment. you can hear what a police expert has to say about that video on our home page. we're following breaking news out of charlotte's south end neighborhood. shots were fired at a burger king on south boulevard at gray stone road. the crime scene has shown up to a burger king. we have brought you pictures from chopper 9 for the past hour. officers have two people in custody. no one was hit. we have asked what led up to the shooting. all new at 6:00, prosecutors share insight into what they think may have led to the deadly officer-involved shooting at the north lake mall on christmas eve. the gun may have been to avenge the shooting that paralyzed his brother. a police officer shot and

fired at others at the mall, targeting the suspect involved here from last november. that shooting paralyzed his brother and left a second man seriously injured. the possible connection to the shooting was revealed during the bond hearing today. he is charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder. the 911 calls about a triple murder in gaston county mentioned adultery and covering up the crime. ken lemon has been working on the story all day and he breaks it down for us tonight. >> reporter: i spoke to one man who said giovanni gambino called him and said he was afraid that his wife would kill him. police say hours later, they found gambino and two other people dead.

with the murder of her husband, giovanni, and this morning, she faced the court for the murders of geoffry gilliland and stephanie sanchez. all were found naked and shot. sanchez was found outside of the home. >> it's not common at all. >> reporter: crystal went to tell a relative calmly what happened after the shooting. one of them called 911. the caller said that crystal took sanchez's body outside and put it on a burn pile.

allison, you have more on the findings? >> reporter: erica, they found sufficient evidence to establish a violation of the law may have occurred and tonight, charlotte fire union leaders and a councilmember are responding. crystal eschert claims that the charlotte fire department fired her for voicing concerns over a cfd building, saying she made an inappropriate post online. she was asked to respond through personal e-mail. a review by the department of labor said "quote, this seems extremely unusual and shady. and the dol calls the timing between her concerns and determination, quote, highly suspicious. >> we don't believe she was treated fairly.

[laughter] >> i don't know if the stocks were as pretty as the weather. i didn't keep track of the numbers but the sunset is in about two minutes, and green city has had a gorgeous albeit winter-like day with temperatures stuck around 50 all afternoon. it hasn't budged. university city, harrisburg and concord and 50. monroe, 50 and as you might expect, you start moving north toward i-40, 41 in hickory and the clouds hung around all day across the high country. the temperatures will fall to the 40s and 30s and we'll be out of below freezing tomorrow morning. 31 in charlotte and 34 in rockingham and looks like 27 should do it in hickory, and low 20s across the high
