shorts are investigating a shooting. this is on potters glen road and investigators didn't give many details on the scene. we are asking how many people were involved and if they are looking for any suspects. parents upset and concerned after a gun was found inside mt. pleasant elementary school yesterday. one parent said the student had the gun all day. >> reporter: the scallion firmed one of their classmates had a gun. they say their teacher followed protocol. students were removed from the

message from the principal. >> planning on putting my child on bus and i don't know if this is going to happen again. >> reporter: the school released this statement: the school will provide counselors on monday for students and the principal will contact parents next wreak with more information. >> the sheriff's department who responded to this incident said normally in a situation like this the department of social services would get involved.

for more information on a shooting that started in east charlotte and ended in elizabeth. one person was shot and police put up crime scene tape around one car there. we learned the incident started here on copper creek road in east charlotte. authorities say the victim drove from this scene to charlottetown avenue. investigators say that person had nonlife-threatening injuries. we are asking what led to the shooting. police arrested three men accused of soliciting children for sex online. officers in lincolnton charged the three during a sting operation. one is a truck driver, one is on business in charlotte and one is a restaurant manager from charlotte.

sting operation by police. almost 20 child sex predators were arrested during that operation. new details this morning about a union county high school student arrested, accused of posting nude pictures of his teacher online. he's being held in juvenile detention. his teacher says he got the images off her cell phone. she's since quit her job. he's charged with voyeurism and computer crimes and could face four years in prison. a man exposed himself and sexually assaulted women in a park over the last search months. one woman was walking with two children when the man pushed her to the ground and fondled her. police believe he's the same man that exposed himself to

through with its threats. on wednesday we told you american airlines applied for 14 daily flights to havana. one of those would be in and out of charlotte. most of the others would be out of miami. today friend and family will hold a candlal light vigil to remember a teen killed in a crash tuesday morning. police say the driver was speeding. the vigil will start at 6:00 this evening at the crash site. heaven will be laid to rest monday in a private funeral service. a farmers market set to open in april was devastated when a fire ripped through its warehouse. we could see the flames shooting through the collapsed

the afternoon and highs in the upper 50s. that's the neighborhood forecast and we'll have more for jefferson coming up in the next half hour. i'm tracking this system about 375 miles north and west of charlotte. this will approach later today but not everybody will see that rain. it's a dry start to the day, more clouds throughout the afternoon, and by 3:00 that's when we could see a few isolated showers, then the shower threat continues for the mountains with a few sprinkles in the charlotte area by 8:00. as we head toward midnight, already clearing out.

a shooting in rock hill left a teenager dead and left a community on edge. a daring gun store robbery in texas has one gun shop owner here in charlotte making big changes to what he's doing to be sure this doesn't happen here. and taking a live look outside, you can see a beautiful view to have the skyline of the city of charlotte there. we are starting off pretty cool, around 30 degrees. good morning and thank you for joining us. i'm britney johnson. let's check on how things are shaping up through the day.

we'll warm into the upper 50s with more clouds later today. heading out this morning, grab the jacket, especially heading north of charlotte through concord, salisbury, at or below freezing. upper 20s now in the mountains. that just updated. if you're heading out for golf today, the sun will be shining till lunchtime and clouds will increase as we head towards 3:00 this afternoon. we'll make it into the upper 50s today. we're tracking a weak system that could bring showers later tonight. the hour by hour forecast and how long the rain will last, coming up. a string of shootings in a 24-hour period rattled the city of rock hill and one teenager was killed. >> reporter: the victim's name

years owe. his family was not ready to speak yet. police say the death marks the city's first homicide of the year. the violence started thursday night when three homes were punctured with bullets. the violence continued friday afternoon. >> fast the only thing i heard was the shot. >> reporter: and ended with 18- year-old darius harding shot dead. >> bang, bang, bang, like six or seven shots. and i hit the floor. >> reporter: the shooting happened steps from this home and witnesses say a man standing outside shot at the car with harding and two others inside. the driver came here, where harding later died. >> he was just a baby. he didn't serve this. we just want justice to be served. >> i don't know rock hill, man, just got crazy. a lot of people got guns that shouldn't have guns. i think they need to do

>> reporter: police say a suspect in the shooting got away on foot. a spokesperson here says they still don't know if the shootings are all connected. breaking news right now, we are learning two people are in critical condition of an overnight shooting in sal bury. police confirmed they were called to the jc price legion this morning and say there was an altercation, and two people were shot. they were found in a field behind the building and flown to wake forest baptist hospital, listed in critical condition. their names have not been released. we'll bring you more information as soon as we get it. a charlotte gun store is protecting itself after this bold smash and grab robbery at a shop just outside houston.

pickup truck through the window and used chairs to rip down the bars. in two minutes they stole up to 50 guns. the owner of the hyatt gun shop here in charlotte beefed up security of their doors and windows and added high end security cameras. >> if they break in and steal guns, mental health checks, background checks, fingerprints, it's all worthless. they're on the street. >> earlier this year we told you act gun shop robberies across our area. officials are working through a backlog of permits.

court to release mental health records to the sheriff's office, and the sheriff's office says this is slowing down the process. they are working as quickly as possible but say it will take longer to get a concealed carry permit. dozens gathered last night to protest cmpd after one officer was captured on camera punching a suspect. the group says cmpd has a history of using excessive force. >> criminals won't be seen as criminals but also like as human beings. i believe that's really -- that would help them be more effective. >> cmpd said it knew about the

facility facilitate the rights of the individuals to speak out. this is malcolm elliott, the suspect, after a hit-and-run. seven officers are surrounding him and one officer is seen punching him several times. police say he resisted arrest. the family of a raleigh man shot and killed by police will hire a pathologist to examine his body. he was shot and killed monday and according to to police report, the suspect struggled with the officer before he was shot. >> whether he was shot from the back or he was shot from the front, the report doesn't specify.

a 17-year-old is facing felony charges after police say justin cassidy admitted to posting a threat on instagram this week. he said it was a hoax. community leaders in mecklenburg county are seeking a solution against the resolutions next week supporting neighborhood schools and school choice. the cornelius mayor pro tem says he wants to deliver decisions to the school board on tuesday. after backlash from parents, a south carolina school dropped an assignment that asked third graders to imagine their lives as slaves. students were told to write about being kidnapped, sold at auction and their life with slave owners. the richland county school district says teachers purchased the assignment online.
