we learned that donald trump is set to be back here in north carolina tomorrow. and hillary clinton will be in the triangle on thursday. right now eyewitness news reporter alexa ashwell is outside the ted cruz event with more on the message that he's expected to deliver to voters. >> ted cruz is relying heavily on the evangelical vote. it's no surprise he and his campaign chose to hold today's rally at a church. political experts think he'll emphasize his personal faith and strong belief in getting back to the principles that built america. cruz was in raleigh where he canceled a public campaign rally at the last minute. instead he held a town hall style question and answer session with a national news anchor. crews vowed if elected president he'll and pull back on federal regulators.

safe to drink from. allison latos has more on the developments. >> this is big news for homeowners who have spent a year using bottled water to cook and to drink. the north carolina department of health and human services announced it's rescinding the do not drink recommendations for hex chromium and vinadium. they said it's welcome news but unfortunate the state took a year to give homeowners certainty the water is safe to drink. the company has been saying contaminants found in the water occur naturally and are not coming from coal ash. the state health department says letters will go out to homeowners this week saying the well water is safe to drink. there will also be a phone number on the letter for homeowners to call if they have any questions. we're pushing for answers in these developments and asking why the health

the legal fight surrounding a deadly street racing crash in mecklenburg county is now moving to the north carolina supreme court. the north carolina d.o.t. filed an appeal yesterday. it asked the supreme court to over turn a 3 million-dollar judgment involving a traffic light that was never installed along york road. carlene atkinson and tyler were street racing in 2009 when they hit the car that cynthia was driving. last month, the court of appeals ruled the d.o.t. should have foreseen the dangerous conditions it created by never instamming installing a light in that area. 13-year-old hunter holt was killed in the crash. a monroe psychologist accused of assaulting a 14-year- old is suspended with pay. channel 9 told you about this

since then we learned that dale rust has been with the union county district since 94. he's charged with simple assault. last night we spoke to the 14- year-old's parents about what happened. they ask those details be kept private for now. now to a tragic story out of lincoln county where a mother of two young boys was killed in a crash. >> troopers say she was taking one of her sons to school when she was hit head-on by a pickup truck. the driver crossed over the center line on highway 150 near old mill road. reporter dave faherty spent the day at the scene talking to investigators. a mother killed here with her 7 and 2-year-old son inside a

you can see what's left of the mini van. james witnessed the crash. minutes earlier the same pickup truck struck his vehicle before hitting the mini van. >> i swerved out of the way to give me the room to correct or get out of his way to get many the shoulder. he still nicked the back of me and drove into the van behind me. >> the impact knocked the mini van off the roadway killing candace. her 7 and 2-year-olds would have been hurt much worse but they were properly restrained in safety seats. this state trooper found one of the children's toys at the scene. >> it's a sad day. it's never easy doing this. it's rough when you see little kids whose lost their mother. >> the driver of the pickup truck said he swerved to miss a deer but no one reported seeing the deer. friends stopped by the crash scene telling us she often volunteered at an elementary school.
