there's a lot going on tonight. chopper 9 over the scene of three different breaking news scenes for you. four people shot in charlotte within the hour tonight. first off here in east charlotte where chopper 9 is now live over the scene. medic confirmed two people have been transported from this scene which is on the plaza. one person had life-threatening injuries. the other, potentially life- threatening injuries. now let's go to northwest charlotte where police have a person in custody after a shooting that happened at this gas station off the brookshire.

shooting investigation could be connected to another shooting that happened on mcginn grove drive. we'll let you know as soon as we have more information on these shootings tonight. more breaking news about an amber alert out of brevard. we want to head to anchor allison latos in the breaking news center with the details. >> the brevard police department says they're looking for 15-year-old dixie may bailey. here's a description of her. she's a white female, 5-4, weighing 114-pounds. she has brown hair with orange streaks and blue eyes. she was last seen wearing a peach colored pull over, black tights and cowboy boots. police haven't said who abducted dixie may bailey. but they did say she may be on the way to atlanta georgia. if you have any information on her whereabouts, call 911. scott and erica. alison, thank you, tonight police are still looking r the thieves who drove a car through the front door of a

we followed this crime since this morning. eyewitness news reporter angela hong talked to residents there who were shocked that a crime like this could happen in such a high-end shopping destination. crews spent all morning replacing the glass doors here at this jewelry store that sits below several parts per millions here at birk dale village but residents told us they didn't see anything suspicious. >> we have a lot of deliveries and dumpsters going. so yeah, there's a lot of commotion in the mornings. >> perhaps that's why police say none of the residents woke up thinking anything unusual was going on. but when they saw this, they were shocked. >> nothing like that happens around here. >> police say someone backed into the glass doors and made their way inside. employees took inventory to see what was stolen. one told channel 9 pieces of jewelry were missing. some from the popular david collection. >> we thought there would be a

you know the bars on the mall. but i guess it was an easy target. >> police say there was one security guard patrolling over night but the property is large and the guard was in another area of birk dale village during the incident. police say the shopping plaza is generally safe. their crime mapping software shows there's been one other burglary in the last six months. but residents and shoppers are wondering if there should be more security here. after all, they say people live here too. they didn't think someone could be so bold to do this. >> maybe they figured nobody would suspect anything's happening if it's a residential area. police say the alarms in the building went off as soon as the glass broke. but the thieves were gone by the time police got here. reporting in huntersville, angela hong, channel 9 eyewitness news. after months of work, south carolina's superintendent of education said a new plan aimed at improving safety and security for all schools

the safe schools task force involves educators, law enforcement officers and parents working together. it's focusing on the role of school resource officers urging clear guidelines for what they do in school. the task force recommendations are more training sites and a greater focus on cultural diversity, positive intervention, and crisis prevention, part of training at schools. new school principals will also receive training in the classroom and new discipline regulations. some news for people driving for spring break vacations. gas prices are climbing back up now. triple a says the price to fill up has jumped about 25% in the past month. the price hike being fueled by the rebounding oil prices and refineries switching to their seasonal maintenance. according to triple a, gas prices will climb at 30 to 50 cents a gallon by memorial day. right now the average price of gas in the charlotte area stands at 1.76 a gallon.

average in south carolina right now drivers are paying 1.55 a gallon. it certainly feels nice outside for a drive or walk or anything you want to do. meteorologist john ahrens is tracking even warmer temperatures heading our way. winds coming out of the south to southwest building and solidifying warm air over charlotte. temperatures today got close to 80 degrees. and i think some neighborhoods like let's say maybe lancaster, close to 80 degrees later on. in charlotte, 71. 73 over in concord and salisbury and over across hickory and newton in the low to mid 70s. the forecast for tonight, magical, fantastic, got a lot of cool things happening uptown. the checkers in action. unc charlotte in action now. perfect too be uptown or elizabeth myers park, everywhere you go tonight. we'll see fog tomorrow morning. the computer models are really pinpointing areas down to the south for this one.

up in places like clover and in york. monroe as well. maybe up into fair view. and i think some of the clouds will get up into charlotte. but really they'll be high clouds for the most part through most of the day for tomorrow. we'll call it partly cloudy, still magnificent. and still very warm and still very productive for allergies. because we got that warm weather just continuing to build up and i think the next couple days you'll see even a breeze picking up. so i would say ha if you're suffering now, you might have even a hard ergo, especially thursday into friday. nothing really to clean things up a little bit. showers not until the weekend. your neighborhood forecast, in uptown charlotte, it looks great. partly cloudy skies. high temperature. we won't hit 80. but we'll get close. 78. and you have current conditions on the phone when you step outside. how about salisbury, maybe a little cooler. but still nice here. fantastic. about 75 for a high temperature. i want to address something that's really going to get headlines nationally.

watch in charlotte. this is a monster storm. missouri down into texas. not so much severe. we have had tornadoes here. but it's the very heavy rain coming out of this. this will lead to some big time, big time flooding up across louisiana and texas. i mean look at the projected rainfall here. it goes off the chart. i think it's going to be a foot of rain down here. this is the next weather maker. it'll be significantly weaker by the time it gets here. plan on rain this weekend. saturday and sunday look to be the best chances. five-day forecast, high temperatures near 80 degrees the next couple days and we'll watch for rain. it doesn't look like a wash out. this system really losing steam thankfully. but you need to plan for it saturday and sunday.
