into their lane. chaos along an indiana interstate. >> oh, sweet jesus. >> reporter: a school bus carrying 21 students and 6 adults upside down in a ditch after being side-swiped by another vehicle. >> we've got parents and cars all over the place. >> reporter: the driver of the vehicle losing control of her car after spilling a drink on herself. hitting a bus carrying the griffith high school boy's basketball team on its way to the state semifinal game. >> as we were flipping, bodies was just ricocheting off the bus. when the bus finally settled down and stopped flipping, everybody was screaming. >> you could tell they were scared. they were shaking. >> reporter: this video recorded by another driver capturing the chaos as students scrambled to escape the mangled bus. which came the a rest upside down. its roof completely crushed. >> my body was in shock. i didn't feel anything at the time. until my teammates started yelling out for each other.

a 6-year-old girl stands to be taken away from her foster parents just hours from now. >> she'll be living with distant relatives. the legal battle is far from over. lauren lyster is with us in the studio. good morning, lauren. great to have you with us this morning. >> reporter: good morning. thank you, dan and paula. later this morning, a little girl being raised with her foster family will be sent to live with members of her extended family in another state. her name is lexi. her move is coming as a result of the custody battle with the chocktaw nation at its center. this morning, a california family preparing to say good-bye to 6-year-old lexi. >> we can't fathom it. it doesn't make any sense at all. i don't know why we don't care about kids anymore. >> reporter: lexi, whose face is blurred to conceal her identity was raised by rusty and summer paige in foster care from the

from the home of her buyiological parents. in the paiges' home, she's bonded with her foster siblings. gaining happiness, playfulness, a positive rapport. now, according to the paiges, a court order is splitting their family up. >> she's going to wonder why mommy and daddy didn't fight for her. or why she's not at home. >> reporter: friday, a court ruling she should be taken to live with her extended family in utah. where a court-appointed attorney representing the little girl says, we're relieved that our client will be reunited with her siblings and her extended family. the legal fight beginning four years ago. after relatives of the girl's biological father, who is native american, petitions his tribe and the l.a. department of children and fmly lyfamily services. >> there is a lot of deference given to indian tribes when they intervene in these cases.
