and it's the best thing i've ever used. i just look flawless instead of like i have a lot of makeup on. it feels silky, light, like nothing's there. it just feels like i'm not wearing anything on my face. it makes my skin look absolutely flawless, it covers up everything, and it evens out my skin tone. there's nothing out there that i have found that h given me what it cosmetics has. and that is for people not to tell me, "i love your makeup," but, "i love your skin." with one step, one product, i get everything i need, and in seconds i can have flawless, beautiful looking skin and that's something i've never been able to do. (female narrator) it cosmetics' innovations made news on the today show in the new york times and the ll street journal, and it's been featured in allure, instyle, brides, marie claire, people, won's day, family circle, and cosmopolitan. the bye bye foundation beautiful you collection was developed by jamie kern lima. as a tv news anchor, jamie struggled for years with her own skin issues,
7:02 am
and the natural look she wanted. so jamie dedicated her life to creating real solutions. she worked with plastic surgeons and dermatologists, and she founded it cosmetics, which stands for innovative technology. she created clinically shown, anti-aging, skin loving products that give you the power to look and feel your most beautiful. watch this. hi, i'm jamie. when you see my skin right no you might not know i suffer from acne and redness, i have hyperpigmentation all across my cheeks, which is so hard to cover. but what's truly amazing is right now i don't have on any foundation or concealer at all on my skin. i'm wearing one life changing product that's unlike anything you've ever seen before and i'm so excited to share it with you. this is my skin. i've suffered from rosacea and really, really sensitive skin for more than a decade. and i used to spend hours every single day
7:03 am
i tried foundation after foundation, and they either wouldn't cover or they'd be so thick they would cake and crease and crack and make me look older. that makeup would irritate my skin and clog my pores, so then my skin would get worse, so then i'd apply even more. i knew there had to be something better, so i worked with plastic surgeons and dermatologists and i created it cosmetics. i wanted to create a product so superior that it does the work for you and it's designed to give you your most beautiful skin. this is bye bye foundation. it's our revolutionary full coverage moisturizer. it's not a foundation with a little bit of skincare thrown in. it's not skincare with just a tint of color. it's something entirely new. it's a skin loving, anti-aging moisturizer that's clinically shown to make your skin look betr even after you take it off. plus, it has your full coverage and your spf all in one simple step.
7:04 am
it can cer absolutely everything, but it looks and feels like you're wearing nothing. and it's so skin loving you can even sleep in it. bye bye foundation will change your life and can truly reveal your most beautiful skin. i'm mie kern lima, and i believe great makeup can give you great skin. and this is it. (female narrator) bye bye foundation is a completely new concept in cosmetics. it takes the place your anti-aging skincare, your spf, and foundation all in one. it's as easy as applying a moisturizer and it's so skin loving, you can sleep in it. the secret is 3d skin flex technology. it targets your skin issues on three levels to help correct, perfect, and protect your skin, all at the same time. on today's show, join actress and host of "the biggest loser," alison sweeney to hear jamie's story of how she developed bye bye foundation. you'll hear from women just like you who've had their lives changed by bye bye foundation.

-hi. -hi. hi! (cheering) (alison) jamie, i am so excited be here with you. i can't even tell you, this is so fun for me. i am so excited, too. i'm so excited about bye bye foundation. i'm so excited about this. jamie, bye bye foundation is something that's pretty much never been done before, right? i mean, you call it the world's first full coverage moisturizer. what does it mean? a lot of these products out there, they really are just makeup and then there's a couple of skincare ingredients thrown in there. a lot of times they can be drying on your skin. bye bye foundation is so, so different. teaming up with plastic surgeons and dermatologists, we literally threw everything out the window and started over from scratch. bye bye foundation, it actually starts its life as an anti-aging moisturizer. so it gives you your skincare, your spf, and your full coverage all in one step. and it's clinically shown to hydrate your skin by 79% in just 10 minutes,
7:07 am
also, there's peptides that actually reducesthe look of wrinkles in just ten days. bye bye foundation is spf 50+, it's uva/uvb, meaning it protects you against the rays that burn you and the rays that age you. and then also, you know, bye bye foundation, it's fl coverage in that one step. we hear full coverage and you think, "oh, foundation." -it's too much. -gross, right? they crease, they crack, they're heavy, they're pancakey, they clog pores. and you can see it, you know that the person is wearing so much makeup. (jamie) actly. bye bye foundation is not a foundation, so it goes on, it looks and feels like a weightless, hydrating moisturir, but you're getting that full coverage if you need it. it is the quintessential beau product. they did something that is natural, that is good for my skin. i absolutely love it. i no longer have to sacrifice great skincare or great coverage. i can have both in one simple step. it gives me the coverage that i need, but it still allows my face to be present. i'm still there.
7:08 am
i walk in first, not my makeup. (female narrator) unlike many foundations, bye bye foundation was developed to make your skin look younger. the innovation is the 3d skin flex technology that targets your skin issues on three levels. within the skin's surface, anti-aging peptides, hyaluronic acid, and hydrolyzed collagen infuse moisture and help correct the look of aging skin. at the surface, light diffusing pigments cover and perfect the look of your skin and flex so they move with you, and are designed not to crack or crease. and on top of your skin, broad spectrum 50+ mineral-based spf helps to protect your skin from the sun. so bye bye foundation helps to correct, perfect, and protect your skin, all at the same time. are you tired of your foundation creasing and cracking? bye bye foundation has our 3d skin flex technology with flexible pigments designed to never crease or crack. i'm gonna show you what that means for you right now. imagine this nylon band is your skin.
7:09 am
i've applied a typical liquid foundation right here and i' applied bye bye foundation here. now throughout the day we do a lot of talking and smiling, so our faces are constantly moving and stretching like this. and look what can happen to some foundations. we've all seen this creasing and cracking and flaking before, right? well, you don't have toettle for this anymore. bye bye foundation has 3d skin flex technology so the flexible pigments are designed to float above your skin and move with your skin and not creaser crack. so it stays fresh and radiant and natural looking no matter how much you talk or move throughout the day. the bye bye foundation beautiful you collection gives you everything you need to have beautiful, flawless looking skin every day. it is what i have on my face right now, and it has completely changed the way i do my skin routine in the morning and the way my skin looks and feels every day. you have to try it to believe it. (female narrator) discover it. love it.

7:13 am
we had 27 women come into r office between the ages of 21 and 69. we told these women to wear your own makeup, make it like you're going out on a saturday night, look as best as you can. they came into our office and we took photographs of these women. so this is a patient who comes in wearing her own makeup. we have her take her makeup off and then we take a picture of her with no makeup. and then we take a picture of her with it cosmetics makeup. we asked over 300 reviewers, "how old do you think these women are?" it was surprising to find that when they wore their own makeup, they actually registered at 1.3 years older than their real age. and when they wore the it cosmetics brand, they looked almost 2.5 years younger. and patients in their 40s, 40s and above, when they were wearing it cosmetics makeup, they actually look five years younger than they did with their own makeup or with no makeup at all. so wearing makeup, and if you add it cosmetics, chances are you're gonna look younger than your real age. i definitely have gotten a lot of compliments since i started using this makeup, and people think i'm at least five years younger than i am,
7:14 am
i'm 38 years old and i have people saying, "you look so good," and asking what do i--you know, "what are you doing with your skin? did you get stuff done to it?" and i'm like, "no, i'm jus-it cosmetics." i'm confident again, i feel beautiful again, and i feel young. people look at me and they say, "wow, you look really good." i don't tell them my age, but when they guess, it's never 50. (female narrator) discover it. love it. believe it. (applause, cheering) i am so inspired by your story and i think you should are it with everyone. all right, well, the easiest way to share it is really st to show you. so i'm just gonna take a makeup remover wipe and take my bye bye foundation off. i'm sorry, i can't believe this is happening right now. we're all real gals, right? we all have issues, but, you know, what you would probably never know-- 'cause it looks like i have-- it looks like i have great skin, right? oh, my gosh.
7:15 am
and i have hyperpigmentation, so, ali, i really believe that, you know, i have gone through all these skin issues to devote my life to creating a solution to them. so i worked with plastic surgeons and dermatologists to create something i believe is an entirely new category, and this is it. we developed bye bye foundation. it's literally in one step you have coverage and you're done. it's as easy as putting on a moisturizer. -i can do that. -right? i think i can handle that. and, look, it's so light, it feels like nothing, and when you smooth it on your skin, i'm not even using a mirror, i'm just smoothi it on, and you're getting your anti-aging skincare, you're getting that full coverage, right? especially if you need it, you're getting the 3d skin flex technology, so it's never gonna crease or crack. and you're getting your spf, it's so simple. it's like if you apply your moisturizer, it's that easy and it's done. so that's it. oh, my gosh, ladies, look at her. (alause, cheering) (jamie) it's easy.
7:16 am
you can't do that with makeup. yeah, well, it's not makeup, that's the thing, it's a full coverage anti-aging moisturizer. it's a product that just does the work for you and then it gives you your most beautiful skin. bye bye foundation has really been my holy grail. ever since i started using it, it has changed my skincare routine, my makeup routine. it's such an amazing product, amazing. bye bye foundation is my favorite because it's silky on my skin, it feels like nutrients going on, and it's covering my hyperpigmentation and sunspots, which i love. i couldn't find anything that would cover like full coverage but feel light. bye bye foundation doesn't have that heaviness and that thickness, and it doesn't settle in the cracks and creases. it moves with your skin. let me show you how bye bye foundation compares to typical foundations. so i'm using an orange because it's similar to your skin with dimples like pores. and i've applied these spots right here, they're representing different skin issues we have. these blue dots right here,
7:17 am
or any veins that you wanna cover. now let's say you have broken red capillaries or redness or rosacea the way i do. these red dots, they represent that. these brown dots will represent dark spots or hyperpigmentation. and here's what happens with other products you might use on your skin. first, i'm going to apply a popular bb cream. so you can see as i start to apply, i'm getting a little bit of coverage, but those spots are coming through, and as it ends up, it's really not covering much. and here's a very expensive high end foundation. it costs more than our entire kit. and you can see as i start to apply, still those spots are coming through. but now bye bye foundation is gonna cover it instantly. watch this. i'm applying the exact same amount. you just need a little bit and bye bye foundation instantly covers.
7:18 am
and look at the pores of the orange with bye bye foundation. they look so much smaller, almost like they've disappeared. so "bye bye, imperfections," and, "hello flawless looking skin." (female #1) i am the editor in chief of new york city's hottest beauty and fashion magazine, bella new york city. we try hundreds of products because we really want to tell our readers, like, what the best is in the marketplace. and the only brand that has ever made it onto the bella beauty award list every single issue has been it cosmetics. i've never, in the history of bella magazine or any of my work in beauty, have i ever found a product that works as well. now it's time to say "bye bye" to heavy foundation, "bye bye" to morning skincare, "bye bye" to your daily sunscreen, and "bye bye" to dry skin, the look of blemishes, scars, dark spots, birth marks, and redness. here's how you can say hello to beautiful looking skin with the bye bye foundation beautiful you collection
7:19 am

7:21 am
a friend i see all the time actually complimented me on my skin, like, "wow, your skin looks great." and i just thought, "it's what they said would happen," and it actually did. there's nothing out there that i have found that has given me what it cosmetics has. and that is for people not to tell me, "i love your makeup," but, "i love your skin." we spoke recently with dr. elizabeth callahan, a board certified dermatologic surgeon consistently ranked one of the top dermatologists in the nation. with bye bye foundation, not only are you getting a full coverage product, but you're actually using something that's gonna improve the tone and texture of your skin. the ingredients in bye bye foundation are quite significant. they help reduce pore size, the appearance of fine lines, and the discolorations that we see in skin, brown spots and red spots. it's a true protective physical based sunscreen, spf 50. and those, in my opinion, are the best forms of sunscreens. as a cosmetic dermatologist, as a clinical dermatologist, as a surgeon, bye bye foundation
7:22 am

announcer hello and welcome to through the bible with les feldick. an oklahoma rancher and farmer, les ldick has been teaching home-style bible classes for over twenty years in iowa, oklahoma and texas. les feldick's unique style of bible teaching has made the books of the bible come to life. when les is teaching, it's so interesting that people say, 'time just seems to fly by.' and now here is les feldick. les feldick okay, good to see everybody in again this afternoon and even though oklahoma has been hot, hot, hot hasn't it? but we're glad you're here and we just trust that the lord will bless our time together this afternoon. for those of you out on television of course, we always like to welcome you right into our class and we appreciate when you write
7:30 am
i'm sitting in the back row. and i guess that's exactly what we're trying to put across. we want you to be a part of this as a study. and we always emphasize, we're not on any one denominational line. we do not attack others, we're just simply going to teach the word and you may not always agree with me. you know, i expect that and we don't have to, except on some of the basic fundamentals of course, there is no room for argument. but there are places where we can have disagreement without being disagreeable. but if we can just succeed in getting folk to get back into a study of the word on their own and not just sit and let other people throw stuff at you and you not knowing whether it's right or wrong. i always like to give the example, how true it is i don't know, but i once read one time that when young folks go in and begin their work with the u.s. treasury department in view of going against counterfeit money, for the first six-months of their
7:31 am
but study legitimate american bills. well, the idea is that if you know what the legitimate looks like, a counterfeit will just pop right up in front of you. well, i use that as the same way with the word of god. if folks would just know what the bible says and know it forwards and backwards, then when this counterfeit stuff comes along, you'll see it right away. and so that's really my main purpose. all right, i guess i always have to let the folks know, we have new listeners every day, that we do have all the past programs available on video, audio and the little
7:32 am
usually show it on the screen. but anyway, those things are available and if you're interested - there they are. if you're interested in any of this material, which is just simply word for word from the program, you call us or write to us and we'll get them to you. okay, back to the book. galatians chapter 4 and we stopped in our lastrogram in verse 14 and so we'll just move right on up to verse 15. remembering always, that the book of galatians is paul proving that we're not under the law, we're under grace! and oh, it's so appropriate even for today. and so we're really gog to hit it today, that we're not under law; we're under grace. verse 15, "where is then the blessedness you spoke of? for i bear you record that if it had been possible you would have plucked out your own eyes and have given them to me." now what's the man saying? that there such a bond of affection between these pagan galatians, who had come under paul's gospel and the transforming power of it and they just love the man in spite ohis physical inadequacies and he had them. and he said it was in such a degree, and
7:33 am
eye problem. they would have given their healthy eyes to replace his sickly ones because they had such a love for him. as he says, tohe thessalonians. now here we go again, honey, we start in galatians. turn over to i thessalonians and i think this is typical of all of paul's coverts, with exception of course, of some of the jewish believers. but whenever he went into a pagan community remember, it was all steeped in idolatry, but when they heard his goel message, here is the results. i thessalonians chapter 1 verse 9. i thessalonians chapter 1 and verse 9. and this says it better than i ever could. all with me? "for they themselves show of us what manner of entering in we had unto you." in other
7:34 am
this strange pagan greek city of thessalonica, he said, "what entering in we had unto you and how you turned from idols to the living god." doesn't that say it all? he came into this strange city with no fanfare, no trumpeting introductions and he merely began confronting people with the gospel of the grace of god. how that, christ had died for their sins and they believed it. and they turned, the scripture says, they turned from their idols to the true and living god. all right, now then back to galatians. it was the same way. thehad entered into such a joy of their salvation, realizing that it was all of grace and then as happens all the time today, you know i see it over and over, whenever we have a new believer who
7:35 am
the gospel and they've come away from all of this other stuff. and they enter into a salvation by grace, what happens? oh, they start getting bombarded with all of the pressure to come back. i had a phone call again just this morning, where the poor man was just beside himself because he had come out of this false teaching. i won't name the particular organization, but he says, i've come out it and i've seen the truth of the word as you teach it, but oh, he said, thpressure. the pressure - constant - to come back to where he'd beenefore. and listen this is not new. the galatians were under the same thing. and paul says you were in such a state of blessedness, you had such a love for me you would have plucked out your own eyes to be replacement for me and now then, he saysverse 16, "am i therefore become your enemy?" simply because i'm
7:36 am
paraphrasing it for emphasis. because i'm continuing to give you the truth? should i show you what the truth did? turn again, come on to the right to timothy. ii timothy chapter 1. ii timothy chapter 1. now listen if you think you get discouraged sometimes and you wonder why you or i or anybody else cannot have the results that we'd like to have, listen it's always be that way. that's why i don't get discouraged. my land, when you ce to the flood, out of i think, four-five billion people on the world, how many? eight. eight out of four or five billion. you get to jesus at the end of his three years of earthly ministry, at least in the area of jerusalem, how many? hundred and twenty. hundred and twenty. hey at's next

up through scripture it's ever been that way. and so, here again look what happened to these converts that paul had brought out of paganism. because you want to remember galatia was in asiminor. always remember geography when you read scripture because geography and history, it all fits together with the over all working of the holy spirit. all right, now look what happened in ii timothy then, chapter 1 verse 14 and 15. "that good thing, (paul writes to timothy) which was committed unto thee." in other words, the gospel. "keep by the holy spirit which dwelleth in us (now verse 15 is the one i wanted) this thou knowest. (in other words, it wasn't just paul's idea. even timothy and titus and his other helpers realized it.).this thou knoweth that all they who are in asia
7:38 am
galatia, remember) be turned away from me." in other words, as i was reflecting on this driving up again this morning. come back to galatians 4. in other words, how much effect did the letter to the galatians really have in the long term? almost none. oh, it's good for us. don't get me wrong. it's part of the word of god, but so far as its impact on these galatian congregations, it evidently fell on pretty much deaf ears, because several years later when he writes to timothy, he has to by inspiration say, they've all turned against me. well, you know what i think they did? they all fell under legalism and consequently none of those churches survived. there isn't a one of those cities left today. they've all fallen into the dust of history and all because
7:39 am
paul's simple gospel of grace. sad isn't it? well, listen the world hasn't changed a bit. it's still the same way today. oh, they just almost ridicule this concept of faith plus nothing. where are you coming from? well, i'll tell you where i'm coming from. from the book, see? all right back to galatians chapter 4 so verse 16 again, "am i therefore become your enemy, because i tell you the truth." you know, usually people don't like the truth, do they? then verse 17, "they zealously affect you but not well; yea, they would exclude you that you might affect them." all right, now in order to explain that, let's let the scripture explain it. come back to chapter 1. see a lot of these verses they're kind of hard to comprehend. we say well, what is the apostle driving at? well, you see what he's driving
7:40 am
believe these judaisers who were coming in and demanding circumcision and law-keeping as over against paul's pure gospel of grace. and what does he call it, chapter 1 now, verse 6, "i marvel that you are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of christ." and that's what brought them out of their idolatry was paul's gospel of grace. but what were they slipping in to? the influence of "another gospel." verse 7, "which is not another." in other words, it's not something just totally different. but what was it? a perversion. a perversion, "which is not another but there be some that trouble you and would pervert the gospel of christ." and oh those perverters finally succeeded, evidently or paul wouldn't have had to write that to timothy see? but he did write it. 'all
7:41 am
galatia 'have turned against me.' and so now if you'll come back to galatians chapter 4, we're going to see how the apostle paul is going to miraculously use the scriptures to teach us a lesson, if the galatians didn't catch it, let's hope that we do. verse 18, "but it is good to be zealously affected always in a good thing, and not only when i am present with you." in other words, when was in their presence and his actual physical presence was there, then evidently they could kind of hold everything together, but as soon as he'd be gone then in would come the false teachers, you know like ravening wolves, and they would just simply tear these little congregations apart. all right now verse 19, here is one of my favorite portions of scripture. i've always told my classes here in oklahoma, if you're ever put on the spot to have a devotional for your sunday school or your women's group or men's group or
7:42 am
the best ones you can use. oh, this is a dandy and it's so easy to present. "my little children (verse 19) of who i travail in birth again until christ be formed in you." in other words, what's he saying? just like the mother's birth pangs of bringing forth that beautiful innocent baby, paul felt to these pagans who also had been transformed and had made a regar birthing process, in to the eternal things, as a result of his gospel. and he was thrilled things, as a result of his gospel. and he was thrilled by it, see? but oh now they're in trouble. they're listening to false teachers and he says, "i desire (verse 20).i desire to be present with you now and to change (or i hope i'm not taking away the thought - what he really says, i'd like to raise my voice. in other words, what? get your attention. i'm just going
7:43 am
my voice so that you'd hear what i'm saying) for i stand in doubt of you." why? because they were falling for this stuff see? now verse 21, "tell me, (you who desire to be under the law, you who want to desire to do something in addition to the gospel) do you not hear the l? for it is written." now i've told you over and over whenever you see paul use that term, where's he going to take you? back to the old testament. and so we're going to go back there in just a moment. "for it is wrten (in the old testament) that abraham had two sons, the one by a bond maid and the other by a free women." now of course, most of you ow what he's
7:44 am
may be some out there in television that have never heard this before, so for their benefit we're going to go over it again and that takes us back, of course to genesis. all the way back to genesis and i think i want to go, i was gog to say verse 21, but i want to go further. back to 16. now this is within a chapter or two of the abrahamic covenant. but of course, years have been rolling by chronologically. and so, abram as we still know him here, bram has already been waiting 36 already been waiting 36 years for the promise of genesis 12 to be fulfilled. and that is that he would have a son and out of that son would come a special race or nation of people. all right. now then, thirty-six years of
7:45 am
impatient with the old fellow. i think we'd all have felt the same way, that god had forgotten ever giving him the promise. that's a long time. i don't care what period of time in human history, 36 years is a long time. and no child. sarai has no signs whatsoever of ever being able to have a child. and so finally she's the one that gives up first, really. and so chapter 16 and verse 1. now i'm not going to finish this in this half-hour. so those of you in television, you wait, it'll come in the next half-hour and maybe the next one but we're going to hold all of this together and we're not going to rush it. all right so "sarai said unto abram." now i'm pronouncing it the way it should be pronounced because she will not become sarah anhe will not become abraham until some time later. and so "sarai said unto abram, behold now the lord hath restrained me from bearing. i pray thee go in un my maid and it
7:46 am
children by her. and abraham harkened to the voice of sarai." now whenever we teach this back in genesis, i always make the point, who is totally lacking in this conversation? well, god is. see? god hasn't said a word yet. all god has said is i'm going to make out of you and of course sarah was implied, i'm going to make out of you a nation of people, which had to start with a son. but here you see, god hasn't said a word. and that's why when we get back to galatians this whole scenario of hagar and ishmael is called 'after the flesh.' this is after the flesh. isaac is going to be the son of the promise of god. see the difference. god isn't involved here. now i know sovereignly he is. i know that the sovereign god had
7:47 am
controlling the flow of all these events but nevertheless, so far as the text is coerned god has had nothing to say about having a child by the slave woman. so, 'of the flesh', don't forget that. "and so sarai, abram's wife took hagar her maid the egyptian, after abram had dwelt ten years in the land of canaan, and gave her to her husband abram to be his wife. (so that she could have a child by him, and of course she does. verse 4.)" and then, verse 5, now again i guess we have to understand the female of the species and we have to understand the customs of the day and according to the laws of hammurabi, the old babylonian seer, if a wife could not have a child, physically; then it was perfectly moral and upright in their culture to have a child then by a servant or a slave girl. and that's what they practiced here, see? they
7:48 am
their morality of their day, but on the other hand god has not told them to do it this way. but, they did it in the energy of the flesh and now of course the slave girl is with child and now look what happens. verse 5, "and sarai said unto abram, my wrong be upon thee. i have given my maid into thy bosom and when she saw that she had conceived i was (what?) despised." now like i say, that probably enters into a little bit to the keup of our female of the species, our women. but, all of a sudden now hagar was literally making a fool out of sarai, her mistress, simply becse she was able to bear a child and she wasn't. and it just infuriated poor sarai and she says, "now the lord judge between me and thee. but abram said unto sarai,
7:49 am
hand, do to her as it plseth the" and bingo, what hpened? sarai kicks her out. let's just put it in plain english. sarai kicks her out. she says, out of my house, i'll have nothing more to do with you. all right, "and so she dealt hardly with her and so hagar fled from her face." because after all sarai was the boss, i guess we'd say. she was the mistress and so hagar the egyptian slave girl fled. now remember she hasn't had her child yet. now then, "the angel of the lord (verse 7, and i've explained that often enough in this class. the angel of the lord is christ, or god the son in his old testament appearance and so).the angel of the lord found her by a fountain of water in the wilderness out in the wayo shur (out in the desert and verse 9, i'll skip verse 8, just for sake of time and verse
7:50 am
lord (or the christ, god the son) said unto her, 'return to thy mistress and submit thyself unto her hand.'" now that was a command from god. go back to sarai and abramno ifs, ands, buts about it. and "the angel of the lord (verse 10) said un her, 'i will multiply thy seed exceedingly (that is coming out of ishmael) that it shall not be numbered for multitude. and so the lord said unto her, behold thou art with child. you will bear a son and you shall call his name ishmael because the lord hath heard thy affliction.'" all right, so she goes back to the home or the tent of abram and sarai and i've explained it now to our oklahoma classes. iris and i had the privilege many, many years ago of visiting
7:51 am
pronouncing that right, out in the dert of the negev and i suppose they were bedouins and it was a rather interesting situation. he served us in what he called 'his tent' and there ally wasn't much there. but out behind were four smaller tents. just one, two, three, four. and while he was making good old arab coffee for us, which was more like syrup than coffee; but while he was fixing coffee for us and we were sitting there on the ground all of a sudden here comes 24 of the prettiest little kids you could ever imagine. all pretty much the same size and they just about smothered iris. you know, trying to get the rings off of heringers and looking at her hair and everything and she was just having a ball. but all of a sudden the old fellow just made one bark like a dog an those kids were gone. well after we'd had our coffee and everything and we were
7:52 am
little bit, we saw those four tents out behind his tent and we found out that those were his four wives. so if you divide 24 by 4 they all had an average at least of about six kids. but, it just immediately set the setting for this here. so when we speak of hagar coming back and dwelling with abram and sarai, they weren't in the same tent. these women had same tent. these women had each their own tent out behind. see? and that's what is evident then as you come a little later when the lord comes and says that they're going to have a child and then sarah was standing in her tent door as the lord revealed to her. you know the account. well, just picture that in your mind that out behind the main dwelling tent were e tents of the these other wives. all right, now then, as you come - like i said we're not going to even try to fini this in a half-an-hour. we're just going to make this a
7:53 am
now as you come on over to chapter, oh let's see, 21. genesis 21. ishmael is now 13 going on 14. typical teenager. and chapter 21, "and the lord (verse 1).the lord visited sarah as he had said, and the lord did unto sarah as he had spoken and she conceived." now remember she's 90, abraham's 100. "so sarah conceived and bear abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which god had spoken to him and abraham called the name of his son that was born unto him, that sarah bear t him, isaac." all right, now do you see the difference? this child is the result of whose promises? well, god's promises. god has said, you're going to have a son.
7:54 am
his name isaac, which of coursenterpreted meant 'laughter.' and so now we find that the promised child is finally making his appearance. the child of the flesh is still with him; he's still there because that's where god told hagar to go. but now you see, it's coming to a head. all right read on, we've got a moment or two left. "and so abraham (verse 3) called the name of his son that was born unto him whom sarah bear, isaac. and abram circumcised his son isaac being eight da old as god had commanded . (verse 5.) and abraham was hundred years old when his son isaac was born unto him. and sarah said, god hath made me to laugh so that all that hear will laugh with me. (and that's why the word isaac also meant laughter.) and she said, 'who would have said unto abraham that sarah should be giving nurse to
7:55 am
him a son in his old age and the child grew and was weaned and abraham made a great feast the same day that isaac was weaned. now i always make a point that chronologically now, isaac has to be five-years-old when he's weaned which of course puts ishmael up to about 18 or 19. he's not a little child anymore. he's at the end of his teen years. all right, now we've only got a minute left and i'm not going to go any further because i don't want to lose the context as we me on. but again, for just this last minute let's rehearse, here we have god promising for 36 years that abraham and sarah will have a son. and nothing happens. then finally after 36 years, they take matters into their own hands and they have a child by virtue
7:56 am
egyptian hagar. and sarah is so upset with her reaction to it that she sends her away, probably in almost a rage. andet while she's out in the desert the lord appears to hagar and says, you go back to sarah's tent. now i'm impressing that. i want you to see that god sent her back. and i want you at the same time, be asking the question, why? when it's going to be the same thing all over again. announcer thank you for watching through the bible with les feldick, a weekly bible study. if you would like more information about the les feldick ministries, a bible study in your area, or about this program, write to: les feldick ministries, route 1, box

spot in the middle of the island. >> they're so big. >> and heavy, as heavy as seven cars. but get this; after they carve them, they move them down to the shore, like 22 kilometers away. >> how? they wouldn't have had big machines. >> nobody knows how. wouldn't it be cool to solve a famous mystery like that? >> yeah! and if we knew how they moved their big statues, then we'd know how to move anabella's. >> let's go try to move one of those big heads! >> and solve the big mystery! it's expedi-- >> wait! this says the moai are protected by law because they're so special and old. the rule is no touching the big heads. >> then how do we gure out how they moved them? >> no problem. we have our own big heavy thing
8:25 am
oto and i can be the expedition team. we'll go to easter island and look for clues about how they moved those statues. >> and the rest of us can be the home team. we can use what you guys learn to move our statue. >> yeah! >> all right! >> yeah! >> you can say it now. >> it's expedition time! >> all right! >> whoo-hoo! >> let's go! >> hey, team doki everybody get ready now it's time to go let's go we're team doki we've got a question something we need to know >> easter island, here come doki and oto! >> hey, team doki everybody get ready now it's time to go there's something we need to know it's expedition time >> let's go! >> [laughing] >> >> now approaching easter
8:26 am
i'm so excited i'm on the edge my seat! >> me, too. i think i'm a little bigger than your usual copilot. >> look, i see the moai! >> cool! but they're protected, so you better not land too close. hmm. try over there at the quarry. another perfect landing! and the perfect place to start our investigation. >> wow! so this is where the statues were card? >> yeah, and some of them are still here. let's tell the others. what's that thing? >> a little something mundi and i've been working on. may i? >> oh! it's a stand for the team to have. >> i call it a hands free communication system. i asked mundi to set up the other half back at the
8:27 am
expedition team to home team, come in. can ya see us? >> [laughs] a little too well. can you move back? all i can see is your nose. >> okay. >> fico: wow! look at the size of those statues! >> they're way bigger than mine. how could anybody move them without bulldozers? >> according to my book, the people who lived here used to say the statues walked to the shore. >> like this? mo-ai. >> mo-ai. mo-ai. >> mo-ai. >> mo-ai. >> [laughing] >> walking statues? that's what u call detective work? >> okay, so they didn't walk. maybe people carried them. >> but they're h-u-u-ge! who coulcarry them? giants?
8:28 am
>> [thudding footsteps] >> a little to the left. >> [laughing] >> guys, statues don't walk and giants don't exist. >> i think fico found the answer. >> really? >> huh? >> a-bracadabra, abracadorch, move this statue to the porch! >> oh! >> fico. >> try this, fico. abracadabra, abracadair, make this statue as light as air. >> abracadabra, abraca--huh? >> on second thought, we d't have the answer. >> gabi, you were onto something. if they tied a rope to one of the moai, then a lot of people could pull at once. >> that might work. let's try. >> come on, pull. pull! >> uh!
8:29 am
>> did we move it? >> wait! i just had a genius idea. mundi, remember how we lifted the tire swing? >> ah! >> we used a tree branch to take some of the weight. >> right! we used a pulley. it's a type of simple machine. let's try it. >> ah! >> on the count of three. one, two, three, pull! >> uh! >> yay! >> now what? it's up, but how do we get it to the clubhouse? >> good question. >> gabi, wait. >> wh-o-o-oa! >> i knew it would work. maybe that's how they stood up the moai. >> yeah. let's go look at the ones that are standing up. >> a pulley would definitely help stand that guy up. >> only one problem, no trees. what would they attach a pulley
8:30 am
>> maybe there used to be trees. >> maybe, but even then, pulleys only pull up. we still don't know how they moved it from back there all the way over here. hmm. wh-o-o-a! uh! oto, did you see that? >> sorry. runaway pencil. >> no. did you see how the pencil rolled me? are you thinking what i'm thinking? >> yeah, and it's another genius idea. the people of easter island must have used giant slingshots! uh! [laughs] >> oto, remember, there were no giants. maybe they rolled the statues on something. >> good idea. i'll get all my pencils. >> our statue is too heavy for pencils. we need something bigger. something that can roll.
8:31 am
road rebel 3,000? >> ooh, fico! that's even better than yo magic idea. >> guys, we have a plan. we're going to lift anabella's statue onto fico's skateboard. >> don't start without us. we're on our way. >> yeah! your genius expedition team is heading home. >> mundi: ah, geniuses, did you forget something? >> uh. >> let's go! >> [laughs] >> come on, pull. >> uh! >> neat! >> now give it a try. >> uh! >> come on, let's all push! >> up this ramp. >> uh! >> now we just have to get it on top of the porch.
8:32 am
>> one pulley coming up. >> heave! pull! >> heave! >> pull! >> heave! >> pull! >> we did it! we moved my sculpture. >> and we solved the mystery of easter island. >> well, they didn't have skateboards back then. >> no, but now we do know at could've used simple machines to make the work easier. >> and we also know why they put them next to the water. >> why? >> because after all that hard work, i need a swim. cannonball! whoo! >> yay, team doki we found the answer our expedition was so fun seeou on the next one
8:34 am
old, eagle-eyed doki. i love this game. hmm. aha! found you, anabella. >> aw. you always find me first. >> come on. help me find the others. >> hmm. now where can they be? >> found ya, fico. >> o-kay. [laughs] >> fico, you have to sit still when you're hiding. >> found you, oto. >> oh! >> now we just need to find mundi and gabi. >> hush! shh! >> yahoo! >> whoo-hoo! >> yay! >> i wonder where they are. >> aha! too easy. found you, gabi. [laughs] >> now where is mundi?
8:35 am
>> one, two, three on mundi. [laughs] that was fun. we're great at hide and seek. >> i don't know about that. you're a good seeker, doki. but we're not so good at hiding. >> my color always gives me away. >> and i can't sit still. >> maybe our hiding could use a little work. how could we get better at hiding? hmm. >> maybe somebody in the worldwide expedition club knows. >> [beeping] >> a team from africa says there's some great hiders in namibia on a nature reserve. that's a place where animals are protected. >> great hiders? do you think they could help us? >> anabella, i know it. it's expedition time! >> yeah! >> yay >> let's go! >> hey, team doki everybody get rdy now it's time to go let's go we're team doki we've got a question
8:36 am
>> namibia, africa, here we come! >> hey, team doki everybody get ready now it's time to go there's something we need to know it's expedition time >> let's go! >> [laughing] >> >> wow! look at all those little lagoon i wish we could get a closer look. >>loser? [laughs] oh, sure. >> wh-o-o-a! >> i take it back! >> oh! >> uh! >> another perfect landing! hello? anybody home? >> i guess the hiding and seeking has already started. [laughs] i love this game. >> [laughs] then come on!
8:37 am
da da da da da da da da >> da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da >> look. an old safari helmet. >> nice. now you're ready for adventure. >> [buzz] >> huh? did you hear that buzz? >> [buzzing continues] >> sounds like an electrical short or maybe a loose air vent. i'd better stay behind to check it out. >> that sound isn't the plane, oto. i think it's some kind of insect. >> i know my plane, gabi. and no way is that an insect. >> well, i know my insects, and i'm going to prove that's what it is. [laughs] >> okay. good luck, guys. it's game time. >> [qutly] you see anything? >> ah! >> uh! >> hey! >> shh! [whispering] i think it's
8:38 am
come on. found you! >> huh? >> our first hider. >> i'm not hiding; i'm working. >> working? hide and seek is a job? >> no. i work as a park ranger here on the nature reserve. it's my job to keep an eye on the animals, making sure they're safe. you're not here to bother them, are you? >> no. we are oa hide and seek expedition. we're here to meet some expert hiders. >> there are lots of great hiders around here. i can help you find them. come on. >> [buzzing] >> hmm. that's not the right noise. >> [buzzing continues] >> i know, it's probably the engine. >> [buzzing continues] >>'m telling you, oto, it's some kind of african bug. >> well, if that's the case, it's really bug-ging me. [laughs] >> oto. >> ah!
8:39 am
>> huh? >> don't move. you almost stepped on a chameleon. >> a chamele-what? >> a chameleon, a kind of lizard. >> cool! >> whoa! >> whoa! >> like many creatures around here--birds, frogs, even insects--the chameleon is good at blending in. >> check it out. >> it's so pretty. >> did you see that? it changed colors to match everything around it. >> actually, chameleons change color depending on the temperature and even their mood. >> i wish i could change color. i want red and yellow stripes. give me red and yellow stripes. i need those stripes. aw, itidn't work! >> [laughs] >> you are great the way you are, fico. besides, bright stripes would make you stand out, not hide better. >> and around here, it's good to blend in.
8:40 am
see, it's less likely to get hurt. >> hey! i have an idea. maybe this will help me blend in, just like the chameleon. >> ah! like camouflage. that's what it's called when you try to blend in with your surroundings. >> that'll help anabella hide better. right, anabella? anabella? where'd she go? >> anabella: [laughs] >> she's hiding on us. >> lucky for you i'm an expert tracker. come on, let's find her. >> [buzzing continues] >> hmm. not this either. >> you won't find anything wrong with the plane, oto. i'm sure it's just an insect in our cargo...somewhere. >> hey, wait! i don't hear the sound anymore. do you? >> no! that's strange. >> [buzzing] >> ah! >> i hope the others are having
8:41 am
looking for. >> [water splashing] >> i hear anabella. found you! >> [growls] >> ah! >> that's not anabella! those are...crocodiles! >> crocodiles! >> you can hardly see them until they move. >> they know how to stay very still. >> so who are they hiding from? what animals are crazy enough to go looking for a crocodile? >> [laughs] not many. in fact, the crocs are the ones waiting for their lunch to stroll by. you might sathey're seekers as well as hiders. >> y-yikes! >> uh... maybe we should move along and keep looking for anabella. so much for ol' eagle-eyed doki. i don't see anabella anywhere. wait, i take that back! look! >> [laughs
8:42 am
learned to surprise anabella. fico, can you pretend you're a crocodile? >> and stay still? yogot it, doki. >> we'll need some camouflage. pick some of these reeds. >> [giggles] >> found you! >> ooh! [laughs] no fair! i didn't even see you coming. >> and we almost didn't see you. your camouflage really worked. >> can i move now, doki? >> [laughs] >> hi, anabella! >> i'd say we're all hiding experts now thanks to marco and his friends. >> totally! >> yeah! >> [buzzing] >> i don't get it. i was sure there was a bugugn there making that noise. >> and i thought it was a mechanical problem. at least i know the plane's in tiptop shape. >> hi, guys. did you find out what was making that sound? >> [buzzing continues] >> ugh! we can still hear it, but we've looked everywhere.
8:43 am
at something and still not see it. right, doki? >> yeah, because it's holding still or blending in or-- >> [buzz] >> ah! or trying to look like something else. >> a stick? >> it sure looks like one. it's a stick insect. >> [laughs] it was a bug. and he was hiding right in front of us all along. >> it does look like a twig. he'd be great in a game of hide and seek. >> speaking of hide and seek, i think it's time to head home for a rematch. >> yeah! >> you're on! >> mm-hmm. >> so, ready for another game of hide and seek, anabella? >> yes. in fact, i'm already hidden. >> huh? >> huh? >> in my expedition sticker. try find me. >> there, behind the bush. >> right.
