inflammation, the cause of pain. you don't need to suffer anymore. omega xl will help you get rid of pain and live the life you deserve. >> ken, will start with you. what is omega xl? >> omega xl is a one-of-a-kind omega-3. there's nothing like it. we believe it's the most powerful omega-3 on the face of the planet, which offers tremendous anti-inflammatory benefits. >> dr. mcquillan, why should i take it? >> it is the most potent natural anti-inflammatory that exists. it actually is very effective in treating the pain and the symptoms of inflammation, so pain, swelling like arthritic joints, back pain, swollen joints, things that cause disability. omega xl is, in my medical opinion, the best anti-inflammatory product for your health. >> are you saying that this is better than fish oil? >> much better than fish oil. no question about it.
7:04 am
fish oil -- you have no idea where the fish came from, and when you're swallowing something, you should care what you're putting in your body. a great deal of the fi oil comes from some of the dirtiest waters in the world -- from around the world -- and when they bring these fish in, they don't take the fillet and give that to the fish-oil products. the fillet, many times, goes to different restaurants and other types of foods. they take what's remaining of the fish -- probably 49% to 50% are the head, the bones, the tail -- grind it all up, and that's what goes in the majority of fish oil on the shelf today. who wants to swallow that? here, with omega xl, you're taking a green-lipped mussel that's grown on vines, spended in the purest waters in the world, never touched the ocean floor. no heavy metals -- you don't have the lead, the zinc, the mercury, and all the heavy metals that are found in fish oil. and when they bake fish oil and try to make it -- to get rid of all those heavy metals, they bake most of the benefits of the omega-3 out of it, where
7:05 am
potent, one-of-a-kind, easy to swallow. >> as a stem-cell scientist, i think it's important to do research on anything that you would place into your body. i thinit's important to only use natural-type supplements. having said that, i do not use any other supplement other than omega xl. >> you want to get rid of that pain? omega xl. i mean, i guarantee it. you come find me, look me up if i'm not telling you the truth. >> announcer: if you're living in pain, listen up. every day, people suffer from symptoms including back, neck, knee, and joint pain.st udies have proven that inflammation is the culprit, but now you can fight it with omega xl. as part of the show, we are extending a special offer. call in the next 20 minutes and we'll doubleour order. don't miss the opportunity to regain control of your life. there's no financial risk. omega xl offers a 90-day
7:06 am
you have nothing to lose. time's running out. call now. >> they're gone. i don't have to worry about those aches and pains, you know, since i've been taking the omega xl. >> omega xl, thank you very much for changing my life, and i will be a loyal customer for life. >> omega xl's definitely worked for me. >> when i took the omega xl, the only thing that i can say is it made me feel great. >> announcer: due to its unique extraction process, omega xl gives us something called free fatty acids, which our body can utilize instantly, whereas regular fish oil comes in the triglyceride form that is bound and our body cannot utilize it readily. this is the reason why fish-oil pills have to be so big. omega xl is a small, safe, easy-to-swallow gel capsule that can go directly into your system and will effectively reduce your inflammation. >> fish oils generally, though, have an aftertaste. and they also cause burping, 'cause i used to have a problem
7:07 am
>> sure. >> does your product have these side effects? >> no, it really doesn't. i'll tell you why. we've brought some fish-oil capsules. thesare the standard fish-oil capsules with their 1,000 milligram. >> anybody who takes fish-oil product knows this product. >> exactly. or you can take this small omega xl capsule, which one of these is equivalent to 10 of these. let me pour 10 in your hand, larry. you'd have to take all 10 of these to get the benefits of one small omega xl capsule. so, women and children and men -- nobody wants to swallow 10 minivans, if you will. you can have one. >> well, how can you get all this in this? >> well, i think the doctor can answer that -- why it's such a unique formulation. >> the difference in the quality of the oil is the extraction process gives us something called a free fatty acid, which is the type of fatty acid that your body can utilize. whereas in this fish-oil
7:08 am
so big is that this is the triglyceride form, which means that it's bound and your body can't utilize it readily. when you take this, this is just fatty acids that can go directly into your system, and they can be effective for reducing your inflammation. >> well, there's something very impoant, also. in today's world, with a doctor here, the average person over 55 today is on five different prescription medications. omega xl has no drug-drug interaction, which is so important. the improper use of prescription medication is probably the sixth cause of death today. so, you have people that have difficulty sleeping at night -- aches and pains cause loss of sleep -- and they worry about the medicine they're taking. omega xl releases at fear of, "is it going to interact with my other drugs," and it reduces the inflammatory pain that you may have in your back, your legs, and so on, to give you a good
7:09 am
very few testimonials in my life -- you can count them on one hand -- and this is a terrific product. it's wonderful being associated with you. >> i havbeen practicing medicine for over 20 years, and i have never endorsed a product, either. >> really? >> and i just feel that this product is so valuable and so important that it's a privilege to be associated with it. >> in fact, i'm gonna take two now. >> well, i will add this, and this is one thing. 80% of our customers are women that call in to buy our product. the women are the gatekeepers of the family's health. >> mm-hmm. >> grandmothers are able to now bend over and pick up their grandchild when the grandchild's running towards them instead of saying, "no, no, no. grandma's back hurts." so, you have this aging society, this active society, this active lifeyle, and everyone wants to move and breathe naturally. they want to be able to get up. they want to be able to walk. they want to be able to enjoy themselves. is a life-changing product that is just truly one of a kind. >> and, by the way, they're so
7:10 am
without water. >> you have hundreds of people, hundreds of family and, we call them employees, but associates at great healthworks today so proud that you're here to help us with our message. >> there's the number. >> there's two different benefits that i've noticed by taking omega xl, one being the increased benet of not having to worry about stiffness or joint problems. the other benefit has been the difference i've seen in my skin. >> i'm amazed at how many people that i talk to suffer from some sort of back discomfort, usually in the lower back, and i have recommended omega xl numerous occasions and will continue to do so, and i'll be on it for life. >> the omega xl capsule is so small that it's just -- it's so simple to swallow. you get most of these pills that have -- that are huge to take, to swallow. it's very hard. but these -- the omega xl capsules are very small, very easy to take. >> you have to know the pain that you've been through in
7:11 am
you feel with the omega xl. >> announcer: if you're living in pain, listen up. every day, people suffer from symptoms including back, neck, knee, and joint pain. studies have proven that inflammation is the culprit, but now you can fight it with omega xl. as part of the show, we are extending a special offer. call and we'll double your order. don't miss the opportunity to regain control of your life. there's no financial risk. omega xl offers a 90-day money-back guarantee. you have nothing to lose. time's running out. call now. >> why is it so effective, ken? >> why is it so effective? it's one of a kind. it truly is one of a kind. there's been 25 years of research. it comes from a green-lipped mussel. nature has provided an oil extract that's one of a kind. it's patent protected. >> this is a nutritional supplement, and what it can do is reduce the signs and symptoms
7:12 am
you know, inflammation is pralent in many diseases, so it's helpful in many different conditions. >> people say, "well, how can this be so good?" well, because the biggest problem to your body is inflammatory-related conditions. doesn't matter if you're a truck driver, if you're a police officer, if you're a fireman, if you work in construction, if you work in the restaurant business, if you are a lady that stands on your feet all day -- >> almost if you move. >> if you move. >> [ chuckles ] >> because pain just ruins your day. >> you're looking at someone. >> it ruins your day. >> i have a low tolerance. >> it's hard to enjoy yourife. everybody has a low tolerance, particularly when you have back pain. back pn will strike 80% of everyone in their lifetime. and it's an over-use condition -- chronic, chronic back pain. so, when you have back pain, you have arthritic pain, particularly if you use your body for your work. do you know that insurance companies today, with all the crazy things that are going on in our insurance world, one of the first questions they're asking you when you fill out
7:13 am
is, "does any part of your body hurt when you come home from work?" so, they know that we're overusing our bodies, which tends to cause more corrective action, which causes the rates too up to keep you in great shape. so, healthcare, while it's important, the important word is self-care. if you don't do something for yourself, omega xl is the beginning of self-care. >> not available in stores. >> no. >> why? >> you know, retail is an important part of the distribution channel of life, but they cannot give the quality care -- customer care that we give. at great healthworks, when a customer calls, you're calling a customer-care person at great healthworks. they're knowledgeable. but that way, we control the experience of the product. >> announcer: hundreds of thousands of people around the world are enjoying better health today because of the difference lives. this natural anti-inflammatory comes from the green-lipped marlborough sound of
7:14 am
in the world. >> the key to the way that we process things is we manage the temperature, we manage the storage chain, we know the chemistry we're looking for, and we make really sure that we're getting the right chemistry to the consumer. i cannot say that any of the people who are selling seafood mussels are gonna be concerned about the same thing. you may cook it in a way or deal with it in a way that simply destroys that bioactivity, so not only are you taking a dozen mussels, you may be getting no benefit. so, the certain way of getting the benefit is to take a capsule, and that's so convenient. it's a tiny, little capsule. it's dead easy to take, and you can be sure about what the outcome will be. so, there's no doubt at all in my mind that taking omega-3 every day is a very good way of ensuring that, for well people, that they stay well, and for people who aren't well, that they get better. there's so much evidence that that's the case. and if you're gonna do that, why not take the best? omega xl is the best. >> announcer: omega xl is a one-of-a-kind, powerful omega-3 oil that helps to reduce
7:15 am
joint pain, arthritis, bronchial tightness, and more. omega xl is the ultimate natural solution in great health and well-being. >> i was ready to pretty much try anything 'cause i was sore. i was real sore. i didn't want to be weighed down by pain. i didn't want to -- i didn't nt to accept it that i was getting older and that pain was starting to take over. so, with omega xl -- i fully believe in omega xl. it allows me to sleep better. it allows me to be more a part of each and every day. i have clarity and focus like i haven't had before. >> i'm on my feet 10 hours a day least. i had knee surgery like four years ago. there was a lot of inflammation after the surgery. i was in so much pain, tears were coming to my eyes. that's how much pain i was in. and, well, you know, my knee is bending much better now, and that inflammation is going away, and that is because of omega xl. >> so, inflammation's the culprit?
7:16 am
makes the joint unstable, and then that makes it worse. and it's like a snowball rolling downhill. all of a sudden, the condition just gets worse and worse. so, if we can control inflammation -- and omega xl has been shown to be 100 times more powerful than other fish oils in controlling the inflammation -- we can control the pain and the disability and actually help maintain a healthier joint. >> it's everyday life. people that drive trucks, firemen, people that stand on their feet all day, women who are hair dressers -- whatever you do, we're overusing our bodies. we're living longer, and we're wearing our joints out faster because we're more involved with sports at a later age -- golfing, lower-back inflammation, so it's part of our lives that is causing these problems. >> can you tell me from your experience how omega xl has improved people's lives? >> by the hundreds of thousands. i'll start with you. when we started to talk about you doing this program, you said, "i want to send it to
7:17 am
>> correct. >> and how did that work out? >> worked out terrific. i used to -- when i got up in the morning to put on my socks, to bend over to put them on, i used to have -- it was really pain. i don't have it anymore. >> now, this is not a music show. this is not a sports show. this is a show about pain care, so when someone watches this program, either they have pain or someone they know has pain. and here's a very powerful and frightening statistic. today, there are 60 million women between 40 and 60 who are acting as caregivers to their mothers. and the daughter, from 40 to 60, is using their body up, having more pain prematurely, at a younger age than ever before. you have 100 million people in the u.s. today over 50 years old. and in a few short years, you'll have 70 million people over 65. inflammation is going to play a devastating role in our society unless you can control it. >> announcer: if you've been living in pain and you're tired of trying products that just don't work, you are not alone.
7:18 am

oma xl offers a 90-day money-back guarantee. you have nothing to lose. time's running out. call now. >> how does it help, doctor, arthritis or chronic pain? >> it actually affects 53 different pathways that cause inflammation in your body, and in that regard, it's unique. i mean, osteoarthritis, which affects, currently, 50 million americans is the wear-and-tear arthritis, and as we get older, we're gonna have more symptoms and more disability due to that condition. but it comes from a small injury in the joint or maybe a sports injury in the joint that creates inflammation. >> all right, how about people who are allergic to things like shellfish, yeah. >> they're actually allergic to the protein in the shellfish. we extract all the protein, all the carbohydrate, and all of the sodium. so this is an allergy-free omega-3. there's nothing like it.
7:20 am
personal experience with your patients, results that they had with the product? >> i've had consistently great results with everyone that i've tried the product with. it is just unbelievable for back pain, back-pain relief. it's very effective in reducing the symptoms associated with arthritis, and we treat a lot of arthritis in our clinic. >> your patients are happy with it. >> my patients are happy with it, and it's easy for them to take. and i can honestly say, before i knew about this product, i would reco oend fishil, but, i mean, they just couldn't take it, because of the side effects -- the dyspepsia and the size of the pill. so i'm hopeful that, really, everybody would try this product, and i think that it would improve the health of anyone who would take it. >> i'm 57 years old, and i've tried a lot of products. i've been in the fitness industry for over 36 years. before taking omega xl, i would have a really hard time with my elbows, and i thought that was
7:21 am

omega xl. announcer hello and welcome to through the bible with les feldick. an oklahoma rancher and farmer, les feldick has been teaching home-style bible classes for over twenty years in iowa, oklahoma and texas. les feldick's unique style of bible teaching has made the books of the bible come to life. when les is teaching, it's so interesting that people say, 'time just seems to fly by.' and now here is les feldick. les feldick okay, we're going to pick right up again where we left off in our last program and now that will be in galatians chapter 5 vee 1. roy's got it up on the board. and this is the third part of the second book, and you'd be surprised how many people out in television, watch for that now. and helps them to figure out a
7:31 am
at. okay, all of you joining us on televisi, again, in case you're just new and have never seen our program before, we're st an informal bible study. we are not hooked up or connected with anybody. we are just totally dependent on our viewing audience for our support and we certainly appreciate all your letters. and again, i always likto remind folks, that sometimes you'll write and apologize that you can't afford a gift. listen, we like your letters anyway. and we don't open our mail to see how much money we've got although it does take money to pay these tv stations. but, our first concern is what's on your heart and your mind and we just thank the lord for every one of you. and of course for all of you here in our studioaudience, as i've said over and over through these past years, we couldn't do it without you. and we appreciate the effort that all of you have put forth. some of you have driven quite a ways and we certainly appreciate that. all right, all the past
7:32 am
the video, audio and the printed page and if you're interested you give us a call or drop us a note. okay, we're here for bible study, not to sell anything, so back to galatians chapter 5 verse 1. and we'd just come out of the allegory in the chapter 4 of isaac and ishmael. and ishmael stood for the law and legalism whereas isaac was a picture of the freedom that we have in grace because of the promises of f d. that's really what it all boils down to. god has promised that if we will believe what christ has done then we are his for eternity. in fact, some one just came up. i guess, dr. dick came up and said, 'well, like even when the lord said in john 17, 'those that thou hast given me are mine.'' well, yes, that holds for us as well. we are literally god's gift to the son in response for his
7:33 am
the cross. all right now then, these next couple, three verses are going to shock a lot of people. they have in the past and i'm sure they will again in the future if we continue on. where paul writes now to you and i as well as to the galatian believers, "stand fast therefore.stand fast therefore, in the liberty (or the freedom) wherewith christ hath made us free. and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage." because it's been done away with. but yet people will just go to all lengths, it seems, to somehow pull it back into their lifestyle because they just think they have to have some kind of a works religion in order to satisfy, i guess, the ego. i don't know what else it would be. because see, when you're saved by grace there's no ego. there is no pride. because we
7:34 am
know, i have to tell the lord constantly, why has he seen fit to pour out such grace on iris and i? and i do. i just feel as though he has blessed us so abundantly. but, not because we deserve it. we don't deserve a nickel's worth of it, but it's oh, this liberty that we have in christ because of what he has accomplished. and now i guess is a good time. let's look at colossians. another verse that i use quite often because i love it. it just, it just rings like a bell. colossians chapter 2 verse 13 and 14 and 15. got it? colossians chapter 2, you got it, honey? colossians chapter 2, let's start at verse 13. "and you (now who's he writing to? believers! you
7:35 am
somebody in some religious system but you and i as members of the body of christ.).and you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh." in other words, as gentiles, we were just as lost as anybody could be. "and so you being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, he (christ) has (past tense) quickened (or made alive, that is spiritually) together with him having (now that's a past tense participle if i remember my grammar right.).having forgiven all trespasses." how many? all of them. from start to finish. they're all forgiven. why? next verse, "blotting out the
7:36 am
that was against us, which was contrary to us. and took it out of the way and nailed it to his cross." now isn't that a beautiful way of putting it? he took the law and all of its demands and all of legalism and all of its demands and just literally jerked it away and nailed it to his cross. picture it that way in your mind. and then as he hung there and was crucified for the sins of the world, the law was crucified with him. and it is now a dead system. and oh, the human race is constantly pulling it back out of the grave. have you ever fooled with something that's been dead for a while? it's not pretty is it? listen, that's the way we have to feel about legalism. it's just like trying to bring something
7:37 am
there's nothing beautiful about that at all. and this is what paul is trying to hammer home. why do you go back to that weak and beggarly stuff, that's been done away with? it's been crucified, it's dead. oh, that reminds me of romans. my goodness, let's go back and look at a few other verses. it's been a long time since we were in romans. romans chapter 7 among others but this is the first one that comes to mind. romans chapter 7 beginning with verse 4. i think we may have used this verse a couple of tapings back. romans chapter 7 verse 4, "wherefore my brethren, you also are become dead to the law, by the body (or the work of the cross) of christ and
7:38 am
to another. even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto god." all right, now then come on down, well i guess we might as well read 5. i was going to skip it but we can read it. "for when we were in the flesh, (that is in the old adam and we were spiritually dead).for when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law." now you want to remember, every time the jew turned around, what'd the law do? condemned him. i mean it was just human nature to be a law-breaker. and so the law was constantly putting him down as guilty. and yet that's the very thing that people somehow want to resurrect and bring back into their lifestyle. oh, but he says, "when we were in that condition, the motions of sins which were by the law, they did work in our members to bring forth fruit (not unto god but unto what?) unto death."
7:39 am
6:23 is what?).death.' the wages of sin is death, but the gift of god is eternal life. see that's the two opposites. all right, now verse 6, "but now, (as a result of our gospel).but now we (as believers) are delivered from the law that being dead wherein we were held, that now we should serve in newness of spirit and not in the oldness of the letter." see how plain that is? i think it is anyway. that we're not to be laboring under that old system of law, which is now crucified as far as god is concerned. it's dead. it's gone. and oh, we saw that especially in our letters to the corinthians. oh, you remember that veil that was never taken away for israel because they could never
7:40 am
now finished and done and that's why they're still trying to keep it today. but you and i know better. we know that the law has been satisfied, it's been crucified. it's been put to death. all right, come back death. all right, come back to galatians 5 now again and remember when i speak of the law, i'm not just talking about the ten commandments and temple worship. i'm talking about anything that you can attach to as legalism. and legalism is anything, i don't care what it is, legalism is anything that you can make up your mind that you're going to do and then go and do it. now of course, the first thing i'm reminded of, i remember iris and i read a little book that took place back in, i think, southwestern missouri. in fact, every time we go over the river on our way out east, we say, hey this is the river where that little fellow was the main character of the book we read. but i'll never forget and iris and i just saw it at the same time as we were reading the book. the little fellow was
7:41 am
and he'd been kind of a little rascal and he said, 'well, i guess if i really want to please mama, i'd better go and join the church.' sound typical? better go join the church. you remember it, don't you, honey? and now we say that with a smile but listen, how many adults today don't come to that same place, well, i guess maybe it's time i quit sowing my wild oats and i'd better settle down. i'd better go join a church. what is that? that's legalism. that's doing something that you can make up your mind, this is what i'm going to do. others will say, well, i guess maybe i should go and get baptized. same thing. it's still something that you can do. it's a works religion. it's legalism and you could just as well take your sacrifices to some kind of an imaginary temple someplace, because you're going to accomplish the same end. nothing. all right, now let's move on.
quote
7:42 am
therefore in the liberty wherewith christ hath made us free and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage." now verse 2, "behold, i paul." now he always emphasizes his apostleship, you know. we saw that in the corinthian letters. "i, paul say unto you that if you be circumcised (for salvation now remember) christ shall profit you (how much?) nothing." now you've always got to remember in the context what was the point of legalism that these galatian believers were begin subjected to? well, circumcision. because that was the main point of legalism in judaism. all right, so circumcision was the big point then. today, we've got other things. circumcision is not the point today that will lead
7:43 am
this was the crowning miss-teaching that they were being subjected to and paul says, 'if you're going to practice jewish rite of circumcision as a part of salvation, then my gospel, how that christ died and rose from the dead, will profit you nothing.' now i've shaken people up over the years. i know i have. but i say, don't just limit it to circumcision. put anything in there that a man or a woman can do. and they're going to claim that by doing that, they are somehow or other inheriting salvation. i don't care what it is. you know, i've had people call, well my pastor says, unless i speak in tongues, i can't be saved. all right, let's just put it in there. and with no malice toward anyone, but let's just put it in here. all right, 'behold i paul say unto you, that if you speak in
7:44 am
for salvation.' understand me now. see this morning too i had a phone call and a fellow had just totally misunderstood what i had said. which is very possible. but understand that this is for salvation. 'behold i say unto you that if you speak in tongues, christ shall profit you nothing.' now i've got you thinking haven't i? all right, let's use another word. baptism. baptism yeah, i see lips all over the place. all right, 'i say unto you that if you be baptized (as a part of salvation, this is what i have to do in order to be saved, oh boy. then if you're going to tell god, i have to be baptized in order to be saved, then god says, sorry i'll have nothing to do with you.).it profits you nothing.' now that's strong language, i know it is, but listen that's what the book is talking about. and anything else, i've already used one example. if you say, well,
7:45 am
church. and you're expecting that to somehow be part of your salvation, then immediately you cancel the work of the cross. that's what the book says. it's not my idea. i mean, that'd be great. i wish i could tell people, well go join a church and you'll make it. oh, that'd be real fine. i remember an old neighbor of mine years ago. we were talking across the fence and one of the local pastors had come out and told him, that if he'd just come in and join his church and give $5.00 a year, he'd go to heaven when he died. and the old boy said, now even i know better than that. see? (laughter) well, thank god there are still people a little smarter than some of these other. but listen, the world is full of these crazy ideas, but they reject the simplicity of the gospel. all right, next verse, verse 3, "for i testify again (well what does that imply? hey, he's said it more than once before).i testify again to every man
7:46 am
other words, if you're going to use this legalistic rite of circumcision as a part of your salvation plus my gospel, is what paul is implying, remember? if you're going to add circumcision to my gospel, then "that man is a debtor to do (how much?) the whole law." how many man down through human history have ever done it? only one and that was christ, himself. no on has ever been able to keep the whole law, it's impossible. so what are they barking up? a wrong tree. you cannot. you cannot somehow or other gain salvation by doing something and you're not going to gain salvation by saying yes, i believe that christ died for me, but i've got to do this and i've got to do that. i've got to walk that aisle, or
7:47 am
aisle. then christ profits you nothing. why? because god is a jealous god, that's why. god is jealous of what he has accomplished on our behalf. and what is that? that at the cross he finished every single demand of god on a sinful person. and he would take all that quilt away from that person the moment he believed that christ died and rose from the dead. now listen, when you really analyze it, isn't it logical? when god has done so much. when god gave the best that all of heaven and the godhead, itself contained. and sent him to earth. and put him through the rigors of 33 years of life among sinful men. and he went to the cross. suffered and died. and then
7:48 am
arose form the dead. and then we say 'but that's not enough?' no wonder god gets upset. no wonder god can consign unbelievers. i had a call this morning again. had several this morning. just about didn't get out in time to come up here. but had another call this morning. how can god send good people to such a horrible place? i said, 'look, you wouldn't ask that question if you had a concept of how much god gave to save sinful men.' see it's those who cannot understand the work of the cross and how much god literally gave up on our behalf and then when it's spurned, he has every right that you can imagine to consign people to a lost eternity. that's why. now i hate to see people lost. i hate to think of a loved one as being lost. but i
7:49 am
because i know that god suffered to such an extent for the salvation of every one that when they spurn it, there's nothing else god can do. his hands are tied. he can't come back and say, 'well i'll give you a second chance.' no. that's why it's appointed unto man once to die and after that the what? the judgment. see? and we'd better take what scripture says and believe it. all right, now then, verse 4. boy, this just keeps piling it on doesn't it? it doesn't get any better, it keeps getting worse. all right, "christ is become of (what?) no effect." now think about that. think about that. here we go through all of these rigmaroles to somehow earn salvation. we've done this. we've dotted that 'i', we've crossed this 't', we've walked this aisle or that aisle and we've shaken this preacher's hand or that deacon's hand or whatever the case may be
7:50 am
all that's required. but we've never had any faith in the gospel. and what's the end result? "for christ is become of no effect." now that's sad isn't it? but it's so true. "christ is become of no effect unto you whosoever of you are justified by the law (or legalism or works, that all means the same thing so far as paul is talking.)" okay, let's go back to romans chapter 3. romans chapter 3, i guess that's where we were this morning on the inspiration network wasn't it george, romans chapter 3? oh, let's look at it again. romans chapter 3 again. romans chapter 3 dropping down to verse 23
7:51 am
23, "for all have sinned (chapter 3, i'm sorry, did you get it, honey? romans 3 verse 23).for all have sinned and come short of the glory of god (but oh, here's the next verse. this is why i came back here.) being (what?) justified freely (without a cost) by his grace (but what did grace supply? the redemption, see? so).we're justified freely by his grace through the redemption (or the process of buying us back) that is in christ jesus." all right, now i'm going to skip verse 25 because of that great big word propitiation and i haven't got time to explain it. but anyhow, come down to verse 26. "to declare i say at this time, his
7:52 am
(christ) might be just (or fair) and he's also going to be the justifier (or the one who will declare that sinner justified).and he's going to be the justifier of him who" speaks in tongues? joins the church? gets baptized? all these other things? no! who? "him that believeth." to him that believeth. now, i'm not an 'easy believer.' i never teach easy believism. never. but what i do maintain is that when we totally believe that romans 3:23 is speaking about us, that we're sinners by virtue of our being sons of adam and when we believe that and that the work of the cross has done everything and when we believe that will all our heart, what does god do? he justifies us. he saves us. he declares us righteous.
7:53 am
he sanctifies, he glorifies, he forgives, he has his own system of baptism. that's the holy spirit who places us into the body of christ. all because we simply believe the gospel. now see there's no legalism tied to that. that's grace. all right, now let's come back to galatians chapter 5, goodness, i thought i was going to finish the book of galatian today. i really had high hopes. galatians 5 verse 5. no i didn't finish verse 4. i'm sorry about that. verse 4, "christ is become of no effect of you whosoever of you are justified by the law (or by works or by legalism, that all is synonymous) you are fallen from grace." no i know a lot of people thinks that they've been in and the fell out. no. that's
7:54 am
about. you haven't been in and fell out. but what he's really referring to is that if you're going to put all these attachments and all these amendments on the gospel, then you have literally turned your back on grace. and you're saying 'thanks but no thanks, i'll work for it. i'll take my chances.' and then you're not in grace. grace is when we just simply throw ourselves at his feet. grace says, there's nothing that i merit. grace says, there's nothing i can do. you know again, i've said over and over and i share it with people whenever i have an opportunity. israel on the shores of the red sea. you all remember it. here they were. red sea in front of them. forbidding mountains on this side and almost the same on the left and who was behind them? the egyptian army. they're trapped. no place to go. did god scream at moses, 'tell the people to do
7:55 am
say? "stand still." and why? god would evidence his power. and as israel by faith stood still and didn't try to frantically find some driftwood to float across, they just stood still by faith and waited for what? the grace of god to open the red sea. and listen that's where we are today. we are up against impossible odds of escaping. we are surrounded by the enemy. and it's a formidable 'red sea' in front of us. and what does god say? hurry up and do something? no, god says the same thing today. do nothing, but what? believe! believe the gospel. believe the plan of salvation, and then god opens everything
7:56 am
of satanic power. god makes us a whole new person, see? all right, now i guess we've got half-a-minute or so left. verse 5, "for we through the spirit, (and that's capitalized so that's definitely the holy spirit, through his power).for we through the holy spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith." now i don't want to have somebody misconstrue the word 'hope.' hope in scripture does not mean that 'i hope it rains tomorrow because we could use some.' no, that's not the hope of scripture. the hope of scripture is believing in an absolute fact or truth and that is that the gospel is true, it's secure and when we believed it we can claim all the promises that god has given in his word. it's not something, well i hope i can get there. we know
7:57 am
and so this whole idea through the spirit is not just the hope of righteousness but it is that bone fide assurance that when we believe the gospel the righteousness of christ was imputed to us. it literally became that clothing of righteousness that adam and eve experienced back in genesis that isaiah in chapter 61:10 and that romans 3 talks about. announcer thank you for watching through the bible with les feldick, a weekly bible study. if you would like more information about the les feldick ministries, a bible study in your area, or about this program, write to: les feldick ministries, route 1, box
