all in one simple step. so say, "bye-bye, foundation," and, "hello, beautiful, flawless looking skin." it's your skin, but better. it gives you everything. it gives you the skincare, it gives you the coverage, it gives you your most beautiful face. it's makeup, it's skincare, it's everything all in one, and it's the best thing i've ever used. i just look flawless instead of like i have a lot of makeup on. it feels silky, light, like nothing's there. it just feels like i'm not wearing anything on my face. it makes my skin look absolutely flawless, it covers up everything, and it evens out my skin tone. there's nothing outhere that i have found that has given me what it cosmetics has. and that is for people not to tell me, "i love your makeup," but, "i love your skin." with one step, one product, i get everything i need, and in seconds i can have flawless, beautiful looking skin and that's something i've never been able to do. (female naator) it cosmetics' innovations made news on the today show in the new york times and the wall street journal,
7:01 am
brides, marie clai, people, woman's day, family circle, and cosmopolitan. the bye bye foundation beautiful you collection was developed by jamie kern lima. as a tv news anchor, jamie struggled for years with her own skin issues, unable to find makeup that gave her the coverage d the natural look she wanted. so jamie dedicated her life to creating real solutions. she worked with plastic surgeons and dermatologists, and she founded it cosmetics, which stands for innovative technology. she created clinically shown, anti-aging, skin loving products that give you the power to look and feel your most beautiful. watch this. hi, i'm jamie. when you see my skin right now, you might not know i suffer from acne and redness, i have hyperpigmentation all across my cheeks, which is so hard to cover. but what's truly amazing is right now i don't have on any foundation or concealer at all on my skin. i'm wearing one life changing product
7:02 am
and i'm so excited to share it with you. this is my skin. i've suffered from rosacea and really, really sensitive skin for more than a decade. and i used to spend hours every single day applying heavy foundations hoping they would cover. i tried foundation after foundation, and they either wouldn't cover or they'd be so thick they would cake and crease and crack and make me look older. that makeup would irritate my skin and clog my pores, so then my skin would get worse, so then i'd apply even more. i knew there had to be something better, so i worked with plastic surgeons and dermatologists and i created it cosmetics. i wanted to create a product so superior that it does the work for you and it's designed to give you your most beautiful skin. this is bye bye foundation. it's our revolutionary full coverage moisturizer. it's not a foundation with a little bit of skincare thrown in. it's not skincare with just a tint of color.
7:03 am
it's a skin loving, anti-aging moisturizer that's clinically shown to make your skin look better even after you take it off. plus, it has your full coverage and your spf all in one simple step. it's truly unlike anything that's ever been done before. it can cover absolutely everything, but it looks and feels like you're wearing nothing. and it's so skin loving you can even sleep in it. bye bye foundation will change your life and can truly reveal your most beautiful skin. i'm jamie kern lima, and i believe great makeup can give you great skin. and this is it. (female narrator) bye bye foundation is a completely new concept in cosmetics. it takes the place your anti-aging skincare, your spf, and foundation all in one. it's as easy as applying a moisturizer and it's so skin loving, you can sleep in it. the secret is 3d skin flex technology. it targets your skin issues on three levels
7:04 am
all at the same time. on today's show, join actress and host of "the biggest loser," alison sweeney to hear jamie's story of how she developed bye bye foundation. you'll hear from women just like you who've had the lives changed by bye bye foundation. you'll see amazing demonstrations that put it to the test, and you'll see a shocking revelation from our studio audience. and, ali, we're gonna do something that has never, ever, ever been seen on television before. are you guys ready? -yes! -okay. (female narrator) stay tuned to see how you can have beautiful, flawless looking skin at any age without having to wear foundation with the bye bye foundation beautiful you collection. would you like to have skin that looks beautiful and flawless every single day without foundation? i know i do. i want beautiful, younger looking skin, and i want coverage that doesn't look or feel like maup. but now i can get perfect coverage th's actually good for my skin in just seconds.
7:05 am
bye bye foundation is the first ever full coverage moisturizer from it cosmetics, developed by jamie kern lima, and we're gonna meet her and hear more about her inspirational story right now. (applause, cheering) -hi. -hi. hi! (cheering) (alison) jamie, i am so excited to be here with you. i can't even tell you, this is so fun for me. i am so excited, too. i'm so excited about bye bye foundation. i'm so excited about this. jamie, bye bye foundation is something that's pretty much never been done before, right? i mean, you call it the world's first full coverage moisturizer. what does it mean? a lot of these products out there, they really are just makeup and then there's a couple of skincare ingredients thrown in there. a lot of times they can be drying on your skin. bye bye foundation is so, so different. teaming upith plastic surgeons and dermatologists,
7:06 am
and started over from scrch. bye bye foundation, it actually starts its life as an anti-aging moisturizer. so it gives you your skincare, your spf, and your full coverage all in one step. and it's clinically shown to hydrate your skin by 79% in just 10 minutes, which is huge, this one step. also, there's peptides that actually reduces the look of wrinkles in just ten days. bye bye foundation is spf 50+, it's uva/uvb, meaning it protects you against the rays that burn you and the rays that age you. and then also, you know, bye bye foundation, it's full coverage in that one step. we hear full coverage and you think, "oh, foundation." -it's too much. -gross, right? they crease, they crack, they're heavy, they're pancakey, they clog pores. and you casee it, you know that the person is wearing so much makeup. (jamie) exactly. bye bye foundation is not a foundation, so it goes on, it looks and feels like a weightless, hydrating moisturizer, but you're getting that full coverage if you need it. it is the quintessential beauty product.
7:07 am
that is good for my skin. i absolutely love it. i no longer have to sacrifice great skincare or great coverage. i can have both in one simple step. it gives me the coverage that i need, but it still allows my face to be present. i'm still there. when i walk into a room, i walk in first, not my makeup. (female narrator) unlike many foundations, bye bye undation was developed to make your skin look younger. the innovation is the 3d skin flex technology that targets your skin issues on three levels. within the skin's surface, anti-agingeptides, hyaluronic acid, and hydrolyzed collagen infuse moisture and help correct the look of aging skin. at the surface, light diffusing pigments cover and perfect the look of your skin and flex so they move with you, and are designed not to crack or crease. and on top of your skin, broad spectrum 50+ mineral-based spf helps to protect your sn from the sun. so bye bye foundation helps to correct, perfect,
7:08 am
are you tired of your foundation creasing and crackg? bye bye foundation has our 3d skin flex technology with flexible pigments designed to never crease or crack. i'm gonna show you what that means for you right now. imagine this nylon band is your skin. now, on this piece of nylon band, i've applied a typical liquid foundation right here and i've applied bye bye foundation here. now throughout the day we do a lot of talking and smiling, so our faces are constantly moving a stretching like this. and look what can happen to some foundations. we've all seen this creasing and cracking and flaking before, right? well, you don't have to settle for this anymore. bye bye foundation has 3d skin flex technology so the flexible pigments are designed to float above your skin and move with your skin and not crease or crack. so it stays fresh and radiant and natural looking no matter how much you talk or move throughout the day. the bye bye foundation beautiful you collection gives you everything you need

7:12 am
to give you proven skincare with clinical results. so we spoke to one of them, dr. steven h. dayan. dr. dayan recently conducted a study where women were ranked on whether they looked better with no makeup, their regular makeup, or bye bye foundation and it cosmetics. we had 27 women come into our office between the ages of 21 and 69. we told these women to wear your own makeup, make it like you're going out on a saturday night, look as best as you can. they came into our office and we took photographs of these women. so this is a patient who comes in wearing her own makeup. we have her take her makeup off and then we take a picture of her with no makeup. and then we take a picture of her with it cosmetics makeup. we asked over 300 reviewers, "how old do you think these women are?" it was surprising to find that when they wore their own makeup, they actually registered at 1.3 years older than their real age. and when they wore the it cosmetics brand, they looked almost 2.5 years younger. and patients in their 40s, 40s and above, when they were wearing it cosmetics makeup,
7:13 am
with their own makeup or with no makeup at all. so wearing makeup, and if you add it cosmetics, chances are you're gonna loo younger than your real age. i definitely have gotten a lot of compliments since i started using this makeup, and people think i'm at least five years younger than i am, which is awesome and i'll totally take it. i'm 38 years old and i have people saying, "you look so good," and asking what do i--you know, "what are you doing with your skin? did you get stuff done to it?" and i'm like, "no, i'm just--it cosmetics." i'm confident again, i feel beautiful again, and i feel young. people look at me and they say, "wow, you look really good." i don't tell them my age, but when they guess, it's never 50. (female narrator) discover it. love it. believe it. (applause, cheering) i am so inspired by your story and i think you should share it with everyone. all right, well, the easiest way to share it is really just to show you.
7:14 am
and take my bye bye foundation off. i'm sorry, i can't believe this is happening right now. we're all real gals, right? we all have issues, but, you know, what you would probably never know-- 'cause it looks like i have-- it looks like i have great skin, right? oh, my gosh. i have hereditary rosacea and i have hyperpigmentation, so, ali, i really believe that, you know, i have gone through all these skin issues to devote my life to creating a solution to them. so i worked with plastic surgeons and dermatologists to create something i believe is an entirely new category, and this is it. we developed bye bye foundation. it's literally in one step you have coverage and you're done. it's as easy as putting on a moisturizer. -i can do that. -right? i think i can handle that. and, look, it's so light, it feels liknothing, and when you smooth it on your skin, i'm not even using a mirror, i'm just smoothing it on, and you're getting your anti-aging skincare, you're getting that full coverage, right?
7:15 am
you're getting the 3d skin flex technology, so it's never gonna crease or crack. and you're getting your spf, it's so simple. it's like if you apply your moisturizer, it's that easy and it's done. so that's it. oh, my gosh, ladies, look at her. (applause, cheering) (jamie) it's easy. (alison) i can't believe just how great-- you can't do that with makeup. yeah, well, it's not makeup, that's the thing, it's a full coverage anti-aging moisturizer. it's a product that just does the work for you and then it gives you your most beautiful skin. bye bye foundation has really been my holy grail. ever since i started using it, it has changed my skincare routine, my makeup routine. it's such an amazing product, amazing. bye bye foundation is my favorite because it's silky on my skin, it feels like nutrients going on, and it's covering my hyperpigmentation and sunspots, which i love. i couldn't find anything that would cover like full coverage but feel light. bye bye foundation doesn't have that heaviness and that thickness, and it doesn't settle in the cracks and creases.
7:16 am
let me show you how bye bye foundation compares to typical foundations. so i'm using an orange because it's similar to your skin with dimples like pores. and i've applied these spots right here, they're representing different skin issues we have. so these blue dots right here, they show dark shadows that we can get around our eyes or any veins that you wanna cover. now let's say you have broken red capillaries or redness or rosacea the way i do. these red dots, they represent that. these brown dots will represent dark spots or hyperpigmentation. and here's what happens with other products you might use on your skin. first, i'm going to apply a popular bb cream. so you can see as i start to apply, i'm getting a little bit of coverage, but those spots are coming through, and as it ends up, it's really not covering much. and here's a very expensive high end foundation. it costs more than our entire kit.
7:17 am
still those spots are coming through. but now bye bye foundation is gonna cover it instantly. watch this. i'm applying the exact same amount. you just need a little bit and bye bye foundation instantly covers. it's like, "bye e, spots altogether." and look at the pores of the orange with bye bye foundation. they look so much smaller, almost like they've disappeared. so "bye bye, imperfections," and, "hello flawless looking skin." (female #1) i am the editor in chief of new york city's hottest beauty and fashion magazine, bella new york city. we try hundreds of products because we really want to tell our readers, like, what the best is in the marketplace. and the only brand thatas ever made it onto the bella beauty award list every single issue has been it cosmetics. i've never, in the history of bella magazine or any of my work in beauty, have i ever found a product that works as well. now it's time to say "bye bye" to heavy foundation, "bye bye" to morning skincare,
7:18 am
and "bye bye" to dry skin, the look of blemishes, scars, dark spots, birth marks, and redness. here's how you can say hello to beautiful looking skin with the bye bye foundation beautiful you collection right now. 7:20 am
discover it. love it. believe it. they were saying, "you have perfect skin." and that just feels so nice to hear because i do feel like it's perfect skin, but really i am hiding a few blemishes that just one knows 'cause it looks so good. a friend i see all the time actually complimented me on my skin, like, "wow, your skin looks great." and i just thought, "it's what they said would happen," and it actually did. there's nothing out there that i have found that has given me what it cosmetics has. and that is for people not to tell me, "i love your makeup," but, "i love your skin." we spoke recently with dr. elizabetcallahan, a board certified dermatologic surgeon consistently ranked one of the top dermatologists in the nation. with bye bye foundation, not only are you getting a full coverage product, but you're actually usg something that's gonna improve the tone and texture of your skin. the ingredients in bye bye foundation are quite significant. they help reduce pore size, the appearance of fine lines,
7:21 am
brown spots and red spots. it's a true protective physical based sunscreen, spf 50. and those, in my opinion, are the bestorms of sunscreens. as a cosmetic dermatologist, as a clinical dermatologist, as a surgeon, bye bye foundation is the first product i've ever found that is truly a one step product. and when you apply this product, your skin looks lied, it's luminous, it's fresh. this product is absolutely incredible. (applause, cheering) i have a surprise for you. okay, not a single woman in this entire audience is wearing foundation, but they are all getting their full coverage and they're getting their most beautiful skin with bye bye foundation, and they're getting confidence, which is huge. and, ali, we're gonna do something that has never, ever, ever been seen on television before. -are you guys ready? -yes! okay, they're gonna show the world how bye bye foundation is giving them
7:22 am
-you ready to reveal? -yes. -let's do it. -what? wow! (jamie) they're removing their bye bye foundation and they're revealing their skin so you can see for yourself that bye bye foundation really does cover skin issues for all skin types. i want you to see that bye bye foundation will work for you, so you can get the confidence that comes with your most beautiful you. (alison) jamie, i can see how emotional you are about this. can we talk to you for a second? everyone in the audience, we all have different issues, everyone at home. you're so beautiful and, like, i'm watching your eyes and the confidence in your eyes. you would never know that you have redness the way i do. yeah, how do you feel? beautiful. mm, yeah, you are beautiful. can we put it back on? (laughter) (jamie) and it's so easy, right? also, like, the most truly amazing thing is watch how quickly and easily they can reapply bye bye foundation. like you can apply it just like a moisturizer, in under a minute. watch this. (alison) all right.
7:23 am
(jamie) i know, and no mirror! (alison) like it's just so easy, right? (jamie) you don't need a mirror. bye bye foundation, it's not makeup. it's a full coverage anti-aging moisturizer. it's not foundation with a little bit of skincare thrown in. it's not skincare with a tint of color. it's something entirely new. you know, for every woman out there, like me, like all of us, if you have acne or you have redness or dark spots, whether you need a lot of coverage, it's not about concealing, it's about revealing your most beautifuyou, and your most beautiful skin ever. you deserve it. 7:30 am
me for those of you watching us on television, especially where you're picking it up daily, always remember we only produce four programs a month and if you're watching daily those are simply programs from the past out of inventory and the day will come when they catch uto us where we are presently taping and then either we have to stop going daily or go back to genesis. so just bare with us. and if some of you watch a week en program and it's up close to where we're taping now, in corinthians or galatians and then your week day programs are back in genesis or whatever, it's just because we are using our inventory in order for you to get the program
7:31 am
show the books on the screen. all the past programs are available in print or by video or the audiotapes and if you're interested in any of that you give us a call or drop us a note. again, we alwayslike to remind people, we're just an informal bible study. and we just like to open up the scriptures and help people to study and read thword on their own. okay, we're in galatians chapter 5 and we're still going to be in verse 17, where we ended in our last half-hour where i like to depict the two natures the believer. now i know a lot of folks have no concept of the two natures, but when we become a believer the old sin nare, the old adam, that we're born with had to be crucified. he had to be literally put to death in the realm of the spirit and that is done when we believe the gospel and christ reckons it as crucified. and we'llee that in romans again in just a moment. and so as we put it on the board, in our last half-hour, that old sin nature, as soon as adam sinned became the only nature and it's the one we're born with. and then in order to come back into a right relationship with god, that old adam has to die. he has to be put to
7:32 am
of course, is accomplished in the realm of the spirit by god, when we believe the gospel. and then immediately, god places opposite that old adamic nature a new nature, a new divine nature and i maintain that new nature cannot sin because it's divine. so when we as believers sin, it's just a simple matter that old adam has taken ntrol for a moment or so, and it's through the old nature then that we continue to sin. now i emphasized in our closing moments, always realize that in god's eyes so far as god is concerned, old adam is dead. that's why he can declare us justified, we are just as if we'd never sinned because old adam is dead and gone so far as god is concerned. but, experientially in our every day life, old adam is still there but we try to keep
7:33 am
nature now as we saw then in our last program, the new nature is imparted by a divine act of god and so in this area between the old sin nature and the old adam and the new nature, which now is receiving its prompting and its power if i may use that word, from the holy spirit who also at the very same time that the new nature becomes a reality, the holy spirit, according to the teachings of paul, in i corinthians 3 and again in 6. the holy spirit comes in and indwells and takes up residence as well as regenerates our spirit, which of course, in adam's case died the moment he sinned. and so with the holy spirit now in consort, or in complete agreement with our spirit, now we once again have that means
7:34 am
through the spirit. and then, here is the crucial part. the holy spirit working on our spirit is going to influence the new nature and the new nature in turn is going to control the acts of the physical body. and so as long as we're led by the spirit, as we're going to see now in romans again, in just a moment. when we're led by the spirit, the body is going to find itself in complete agreement with the laws of god that are good for society. they're good for family. they're good for marital relationships. all of these things prompted by this god given part of us, makes the difference. now like i just said, we as humans are still going to sin. we all fail. we all fall. and it's when this part of us suddenly withdraws and comes away from the
7:35 am
immediately jumps at the opportunity and then old adam comes in and begins to control the acts of the body. then of course, we find ourselves as believers, naturally, sinning. i mean, believers sin. we can't get away from that. but, the whole idea is that we keep that spirit part of us literally exercised by the word, by prayer, by christian fellowship and then we can pretty much control the activity of the body. all right, so now then, let's move into verse 18 and then we can go back and compare some other scriptures. so that even though these two natures are contrary one to thother, we cannot do the things that we would. but, if we're led of the spirit, then here comes what i'm always teaching, 'you're not under the law.' all right, now let's show this
7:36 am
foremost we cannot do the things we would. let's not find ourselves beating our breasts and saying, 'oh, i'm without hope, i can't seem to win.' because apostle raul went through that same thing. and let's look at his dilemma chapter 7 of romans, first. let's go back to romans a minute first, and look at raul's dilemma in chapter 7 and maybe that'll give us some comfort. that we're not alone, when we know we should do something, and we just don't do it. we know we shouldn't do certain things, but the first thing we know we've done it. all right, in romans chapter 7, we aren't going to look at the whole chapter, we haven't got time for that, but let's just drop down to verse 15. i mean this just says it all. romans 7 verse 15. "for that which i do, i allow not." well what does he mean? well that which he is doing in the body and in
7:37 am
prompted by the holy spirit, tells him it's wrong. see? and so the things, he says, that i do, i know better. i don't want to do them. all right, move on. "for that which i would, i do not, and that which i hate i do." well, what's he saying? the things that now the spirit and his new nature hate, old adam is still slipping in and getting the job done. whatever it is. but, in order to control the failures of the body, this part of us has to be strengthenednd become uppermost in all of our thoughts and o acts and deeds and we have to constantly keep that old adamic nature in suppression. now, i think you've all heard the expression, well the devil made me do it. well, that's not ry often the case. it's old adam who makes us do it. but, let's not leave
7:38 am
entirely, where does satan work? well, through that old nature. that's his playground. that's where he loves to fulfill his desires, is to get our old adamic nature to control and to exercise the desires of the old nature. but, we have him that is in us, how is it the verse says? 'but he that is within you is greater than the powers of satan.' so we have that comfort. all right, now since you're in romans 7, let's also come across the page to chapter 8. because i like to show that paul doesn't write these things in one place and then leave it, but it's constant repetition of these things. all right, let's start with verse 1. been a long time since we taught romans 8. and when the time came t teach it i think i made the world now that i le 8 and especially verse 1. "there
7:39 am
our dilemma, now remember this is following chapter 7. in spite of our dilemma, that the things we know we shouldn't do, we find ourselves doing betimes. but in spite of that, "there is therefore now no condemnation." howan anybody twist that? that's what it says. that in spite of our dilemma, in spite of our failures, god has promised that there is no condemnation. but, what's the criteria? what's the requirement? that we are in christ jesus. now remember, no unbeliever is in christ. oh he may try to walk like christian, he may try to behave like one, but unless he's in christ, he's not one. but, for those of us who are in christ, and remember we get to that position by faith and faith alone in the gospel. and
7:40 am
right, so now, "there is no condemnation to those who are in christ." and then i'm going to leave the last part of that verse because i'd rather pick it up in verse 4. but now, verse 2, "for the law," and remember i explained in romans that the word law doesn't always mean the ten commandments, but in thicase it means a fact of life. that's what law meanhere in this second verse. "for the law (or the fact of life) of the spirit of life in christ jesus has made me free from (another fact of life, and that is what?) the law of sin and death." all right, verse 3, "for what the law (now we're coming back to the mosaic law, the ten).for what the law (or the ten commandmts) could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, god (see? now he takes preeminence. see we
7:41 am
and so, now).god by sending his own son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin (in other words, to take care of that old problem of old adam.) he ndemned that old adam in the flesh (now here's the verse) that the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled." now we've got to stop here a minute because when we start talking about law and grace, we can't be confused. the law from god's viewpoint was what? perfect. that's right. i'm glad you're seeing. the law was perfect from god's viewpoint. it was the very mind of god expressed so far as being the best for mankind's benefit and his own good. but from the human standpoint the law was what? weak and
7:42 am
now why? why those two seemingly contradictory statements of the same ten commandments? well you see, god revealed his righteousness and his holiness when he gave the ten commandments. but man over here witht the power of the holy spirit and in his own flesh, couldn't begin to keep that perfect law and so it became what? weak. beggarly. a yoke that poor old israel just chaffed under constantly. and so here's the whole concept. yes, the law is perfect but we cannot keep it in the flesh because it had no power to impart to man to keep it. now i hope i've made that plain. the law had no power to help mortal men keep it. that was its weakness. oh, it was holy. it was perfect
7:43 am
it to help theaw-keeper keep the law. and consequently they couldn't they couldn't even come close. but all right now, that's why under our economy under grace, we've t something far better. now we've been studying the book of hebrews in our muskogee class, and i've been trying to get people to understand that all through that letter to the hebrews, paul lays out that, which was good under the law, but under grace it's far what, joe? better! see? oh now, we've got something far better. all right now then, look what he says here in romans verse 4, that "the righteousness of the l (which is perfect from god's point of view, but now we have the possibility of it being fulfilled in u as grace age believers,
7:44 am
of the holy spirit. all right reading on to the end of the verse.) that it might be fulfilled in us who (not that we're better at law-keeping than israel was but because of our position because of the power of the holy spirit, weo longer) walk after the flesh (or after old adam,) but after (what?) the spirit." all right now here it is. just as soon as old adam is crucified and in god's eyes he's completely dead, he's out of the picture, but in our experience, he's still here but he's defeated. he doesn't have to remain uppermost. if he remains uppermost, it's because we're not fighting the battle. but, at the same time rember, the holy spirit came in and empowered our spirit that was in creation, body, soul and spirit, remember and so the holy spirit working in
7:45 am
we can live victoriously but old adam is powerful and he will come to the fore at times. but here is where the warfare exists. and there would be no warfare if it were not for the indwelling holy spirit. otherwise, there wouldn't even be a batt line. we wouldn't stand a chance againsthe forces of old adam and the forces of satan if we didn't have the holy spirit. that's the secret. in fact, i was reading here a year or two ago, and it just made such an impression, i think i put it on the program, a long time ago. in the greek it is the pneuma hagion, the pneuma hagion and you know what that really means? in the english it is that power from where? on
7:46 am
sure you do. that power from on high. that's what this is, see? the holy spirit is the person, but when he gives us that which we need to confront the old nature and his desires, d to live victoriously in the flesh, we cannot do it without the 'pneuma hagion', which is the power from on high that is exercised through the person of the holy spirit. and that's what we have to understand, by faith. by faith we take is that lord, i have the holy spirit. i can draw ohim. and i don't have to force myself to be a law-keeper. it just simply now comes naturally to let the spirit run the race for us. all right, while you're in romans chapter 8, this is all fitting with galatians so perfectly. now come down to verse 5. "for they who
7:47 am
(they're still living in the realm of old adam and they know nothing of god's saving grace).for they who are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh." now you want to remember that's the grand majority of the world's population. all they're out there for today is to gratify the flesh. they have no concept of eternity. they have no concept of spiritual things and all they're concerned about is to gratify the flesh. oh, they may do it with pomp and circumstance. th may do it in high echelons of society, but it's still nothing but t gratification of the flesh. all right, but the other half of the verse, the flipside to that is, "they who are after the spirit, (in other word under the control of the holy spirit, that person is going to be more concerned with) the
7:48 am
spirit." and iris and i can tell no matter where go in our travels. i don't care whether they're in the upper areas of economics or at the lower, we don't care. we enjoy the whole spectrumbut we've noticed now over the last several years that every place we go and we're invited to come in and spend the night or he dinner, they don't talk about the weather. they don't talk about sports. they don't talk about politics. the minute we sit down it's in the bo. that's as it should be. and granted i know people have questions and maybe think i've got the answers, but nevertheless we always come away from those places just thrilled, now these people have only one thing on their mind. and that's the things of the spirit. now you see, that's not the natural person. he'll talk about anything but the things of the spirit. all right, now then, let's go back to
7:49 am
make a little headway. all right, so "if you're led of the spirit (verse 18).if you're led of the spirit then you're not under the law." that's what the book says. you don't have to write and tell me, now les, you can't say things like that. well, i'm not saying it. the bible says it. god's word says it. that when we are under grace and under the working and the power and this pneuma hagion, that power from high, then we're not under the law. in other words, i don't have to check the ten commandments, now let's see, have i broken that one today? can i break that one tomorrow? no that's not the way we look at it. it doesn't even enter our minds that i have to keep the law because the holy spirit is in the place of the law. again, i can't help this, honey. let's go back to romans. back to romans. chapter 7 verse 6. and this says it bter
7:50 am
6 and we're going to keep repeating it and repeating it and repeating it until people know it forwards and backwards. all right, "but now we (as believers).now we are delivered from the law that being dead wherein we were held (past tense) that we should serve in newness of spirit and not in t oldness of the letter." well, what are the two concepts there? e we going to work and live under the idea of the new nature who is being prompted and encouraged by the person of the godhead, the holy spirit? or are we going to still t to satisfy old adam, and see
7:51 am
maybe he should try to keep the law. you know. lot of people realize that it's wrong to steal. it's wrong to do these things and so old adam can recognize that but you see, othe other hand he knows he can't keep it anyway, so pretty soon he givesp. but see, the new nature doesn't have that problem. our new natu, under the guidance of the holy spirit, we realize we can't keep the w by the energy of the flesh, it's impossible. but, when we let the holy spirit lead us and guide us and direct us then the law takes care of itself. all right, so read it again, now verse 6, "we are delivered from the law." and that means exactly what it says. "that being dead wherein we were held that we should serve in newness of spirit." now that word newness means exactly what it says. a whole new
7:52 am
believer and we receive this new nature, it's a this new nature, it's a whole new ballgame. i don't care what time of life you're in. whether you're a teenager, or whether you're in middle age, or whether you're in the advanced years and like our pastor puit last sunday, i hope i can remember it, he said, some of you are in the springtime of life. some of you are in the summertime life. some of you are in the fall of life. some of you are in the winter of life. some of you are on the 'fifth' season! (laughter) well, that says it, see? and it's the whole idea that regardless o where we are in our life, once we enter into this spirit led life, we're not under the law, we're under grace. okay, now come back to galatians and we get into the part that really gets explicit. no punches
7:53 am
ifs, ands, buts, there's no questions. now verse 19, "now the works of the flesh (of old adam, satan's playground).the works of the flesh are manifest." in other words, there's no hiding it, there's no doubting it, it's just like looking in a microscope again and seeing everything exposed by that bright light from below. all right, "all the works of the flesh are manifest (and here they come, and what does it start with? sexual sins.) adultery." and you know, as you look at the world all the way back through history, what has always been the most hideous of mankind's sins? sexual immorality. the pagans were rampant and we expressed that in corinthians. and we saw it when we were in the
7:54 am
some of the places that paul was confronted with it. and the gross sexual wickedness that was evident all the way back. and so it's always been that way. and i think even going as far back as ishmael and esau. in fact, esau, that's a good one. so that you know what i'm talking about, turn to the right a little bit; i didn't intend to do this. you know, that's the way i teach. i can't help that. but come on over to hebrews chapter 11, no 12. hebrews chaer 12. even all the way back to esau, one of the twins you remember of isaac and rebecca. all right, hebrews 12 verse 16, all got it? i want you to see this because see, this has
7:55 am
most crucial shortcoming of the human race. and we're seeing it explode all around us in the nineties. all right, verse 16 of hebrews 12, "lest there be any (what?) fornicator (see?) or profane person." now the two go hand in hand. when you have someone who is immoral, he's profane for all practical purposes. all right, this is esau now. "lest there be a fornicator or profane person as esau (the twin brother of jacob) who for one morsel of food sold his birthrht." well, now do you get the makeup of the man's personality? number one, he was destitute of faith. those of you who were with me when we taught genesis, we pointed out that when he came in hungry as a bear, as i put it, and
7:56 am
cooking, what did he tell old jacob? give me bowl ofof yoyo bean soup. well, jacob wasn't about to give it free for nothing, so he says, well give me your birthright. sell it to me. well, you see, esau saw absolutely nothing of any kind of worth of the birthright. he'd rather have that bowl of soup. all right, why did he not see any value in the birthright? it was something to be appropriated by faith, and how much faith did esau have? none. esau was destitute of faith; consequently what kind of a man was he sexually? immoral. and it all goes hand in hand. you just cannot separate the two. announcer thank you for

[laughs] i do love watermelon. >> now it's your turn, fico. let's see your picture of doki. >> tada! >> huh? >> did you need more time to finish it? >> nope! it's all done. go ahead, scan it, doki. i want the other teams to see it. >> anabella: fico's sure is different. >> gabi: i like it, but it doesn't look anything like you. >> i drew doki the way i do
8:16 am
yeah. >> hey, we just got an e-mail from someone named alyssa. she's from an expedition team in berlin. >> she says she loves the pictures we made of each other, especially fico's? >> tada! >> her dad's an artist, and fico's picture reminds her of something her dad made. >> [laughs] she must've ant anabella's picture. it looks exactly like me and lancelot. now that's real art. >> my picture is real art... i think. or maybe it isn't? >> actually, how do you know if something counts as art? >> well, alyssa's inviting us to her dad's art studio. wanna go find out? >> ooh, ooh, ooh, yay! an art trip! >> it sure is, anabella. it's expedition time! >> whoo-hoo! >> let's go! >> hey, team doki everybody get ready

8:19 am
>> it must be nice to live so close to the beautiful park. >> [laughs] oh, yes! and it's handy for my dad. he looks after the sculptures, and he even made some of them. >> wow! i was expecting real art on the walls. you know, paintings of people, bowls of fruit. >> dad makes modern art. he says art doesn't have to look like something from real life. [laughs] and it doesn't even have to be on the wall. go ahead, walk on it. >> [tones play >> gabi: ah! did you see that? >> [laughs] >> it's like when we go to the beach and the waves wash over our footprints. >> is that what it's about? >> there's no right or wrong answer in art, gabi. my dad would just be happy to know that his art made you think or feel something. >> wow! are you an artist, too? >> well, i'm learning. i definitely like to make art.
8:20 am
>> oh! i was sure we had a spare wing flap. no, we just have everything but. oto, you should've given away most of this junk ages ago. >> it's all good stuff. you just have to be creative. what if we need a helicopter or a tent or a bird? >> we do need a bird. or at least a wing flap. [laughs] >> [laughs] >> alyssa, is that the picture you said looked like the one fico made? >> yes. [laughs] isn't it a great piece of art? >> then maybe mine is great art, too? >> i don't get it. what's it supposed to be? >> take a closer look, gabi, and take your time. >> ooh, i see it! i see it! >> huh? but it doesn't look like... wait! is that you, alyssa? >> yes, it's my profile. dad just focused on one thing
8:21 am
>> now i get it! this reminds me of doki's smile. it doesn't look exactly like doki, but it expresses doki perfectly. >> and that's what art's all about--expressing yoself. come on, let's make some art. i have all kinds of materials. use anything you like. >> yeah! >> this is gonna be fun! >> oh, goody! >> >> whoa! i better find you a smock, fico. i'll be right back. >> [beeping] >> mundi: doki, come in. >> hi, mundi. hi, oto. everything all right? >> we don't seem to have a spare wing flap. plan b is to make one from scratch, but it'll take a while. >> hang on.
8:22 am
i'll bring it over. >> where's doki? >> he took that wing thing to the plane with him. >> alyssa: uh-oh. >> our plane needs a new wing flap. >> that wasn't scrap metal. it's part of a new art piece my dad's working on! >> uh-oh. >> we better stop him. >> this'll work with a few adjustments. >> wait! stop! a-a-h! >> uh! >> that's a piece of art, not a plane part! >> ah! got it! >> phew! >> sorry about that, alyssa. i didn't know it was art. >> that's all right, doki. [laughs] around my house, it's sometimes hard to tell. this is where it's going to go. dad wasn't finished installing it yet. >> guess we're back to plan b, making a wing from scratch. how 'bout we use this? >> where does all this stuff go and what's it for?
8:23 am

8:45 am
and super-hot. and what would make one fall anyway? >> i don't know, but, i wish one would land right here so i could see it. >> i wonder if there really are such things as falling stars. >> let's find out. >> [beeping] >> it's a message from an expedition team in puerto rico. >> it says they have one of the most powerful telescopes in the world. we can see way more than with my telescope. >> could we see a falling star? >> let's go find out. it's expedition time! >> yeah! >> whoo-hoo! >> let's go! >> hey, team doki everybody get ready now it's time to go let's go we're team doki we've got a question something we need to know >> puerto rico, here we come! >> hey, team doki
8:46 am
now it's time to go there's something we need to know it's expedition time >> let's go! >> [laughing] >> >> ooh! puerto rico is beautiful. >> yeah! but what's that big, gray dish in the ground? >> i'm pretty sure it's a really big telescope, so don't land on it! >> but it's so nice and smooth. >> hmm. >> so many trees. where should i land? >> oh! >> whoa! >> ah! ah! >> whoa! >> another perfect landing! >> this is a telescope? where do you look through? >> i usually look through the cameras in the control room.
8:47 am
team puerto rico. >> and you must be team doki. welcome to the world's larst single-dish radio telescope. >> wow, it's large. is it yours? >> [laughs] i wish. i'm an astronomy student. i study space and i help out around here. let me show you around. >> awesome! >> hmm. >> i've never seen a telescope with its own control room. >> well, it's much more powerful than a regular telescope, and it uses radio waves to see. >> radio waves to see? i thought radios just make sounds. >> it's colicated. basically, it shoots radio waves into space, then sees what they bounce off. that way, we get images, like this. >> awesome! that's the planet mars. >> right, the red planet. go ahead, look at some other ones.
8:48 am
sagittarius. >> anabella: look, there's saturn. >> doki: i'm somewhere in deep space. >> or you turned the screen off. >> [laughs] wh-o-oa. i wish i had one of these back home. >> i bet you could even find aliens with this thing. >> not yet, oto. we do use this telescope to listen for alien messages. we haven't heard anything yet, but-- >> [telescope beeping] >> what's that? >> do you think it's-- >> aliens! i knew it! can we see them? >> [beeping] >> fico: whoo-hoo! >> hmm. that alien sounds familiar. >> whoo-hoo! >> i'll go get him. >> now this is the perfect place to practice. >> fico, this is not a skate park.
8:49 am
scientific equipment. >> a-a-aw! >> come on. you're missing lots of cool stuff in the control room. >> i never knew you could see so much with a telescope, even in the daytime, like the moon. uh! ah! >> hi, anabella. did you see a falling star yet? >> no, andhat's what we came here for. can you help me see one? >> i can't show you a falling star because stars don't fall. >> aw. >> i knew it! >> but i can show you a meteor. when people see falling stars, they're really seeing meteors, small space rocks. >> rocks? then why do they look like stars? >> i'll show you. >> oh, great! >> [beeps] >> see, here's a little rock
8:50 am
this one is only the size of a baseball, but if it happens to drift towards earth, it heats up as it enters the atmosphere. it gets hot enough to turn white and from below-- >> it looks like a star is falling. >> i'd love to add a space rock to my rock collection. >> those little space rocks are called meteorites, if they make it to earth. but, a lot of them burn up in the atmosphere before they land. >> look, look, there's another one. >> where? where? o-o-oh! >> it's gone now, oto. sorry. >> don't worry, it happens a few times a day. keep watching, you'll see another one. >> if we saw one fall and figured out where it was going to land, you think we could find it? >> and s it up close? that's what i wished for. >> it's a long shot, but i guess it's worth a try. >> keep oking. we're bound to see a meteor sooner or later.
8:51 am
by looking through my telescope while skateboarding, like this. >> fico-ah! >> uh! >> there still might be a few bugs in my plan. >> wh-o-oa! i think i see one. >> really? okay, let's check it with the radio telescope. oto, mundi, we see a meteor. >> we have it in here, too, doki. >> and it's a big one, maybe the size of a refrigerator. if you're lucky, it might not all burn up before it hits the earth. >> doki, according to the trajectory, it might fall close to us. jacinta's going to help us figure out where it's going to land. >> and then we're going meteor hunting. meet us at the plane! >> we worked it out. the meteor is headed for that grassy hill. >> that's a pretty steep hill. >> i know. that's why oto's going to land on the flat part on top. then, we can just walk down and
8:52 am
>> if the meteor is hot from having burned in the ear's atmosphere, will it be too hot to pick up? >> and what if it starts a fire in the grass? >> meteors are hot, but ey rarely cause fires. still, you never know, so you all be careful, okay? >> how can we make sure there's no fire? >> watch ts. whoo-hoo! okay, mundi, turn on the hose! whoo-hoo! now even if the meteor is super-hot, the grass is too wet to burn. i'm a genius! wh-o-o-ops! >> ah! are you okay, fico? >> [meteor whistling] >> wow! >> yay! >> hurray! >> totally fine.
8:53 am
grass. >> neat! >> whoa. awesome. >> hard to believe that's what we saw in the sky just a few minutes ago. >> it was the size of a fridge, but most of it burned up just gettinhere. >> that sure would look good in your rock collection, oto. >> i think i have a better idea. >> whoo! that looks pretty. now everyone will be able to see it. >> thanks to your idea, oto, the visitor center has a real meteorite to show people. >> well, it was one of my better ideas. but there's someone else you should really be thanking. >> oh, don't thank me. i'm just glad i could use my amazing skateboard abilities to save the day! >> actually, fico, i meant anabella. >> me? >> her? >> oto's right. it was your wish to see a fallen star. that got us here, and your wish
8:54 am
>> you're right. it did. >> hmm. i guess that's true. good work, anabella. >> thanks. [laughs] but you guys all helped, that's why i put us all on the expedition sticker. see? >> wow! >> oh! >> awesome job, anabella. >> you got my heroic skateboarding moves just right. >> whoo-hoo! >> [laughing] >> yay, team doki we found the answer our expedition was so fun see you on the next one
