councilman bill moody says a second council member -- danny meeks -- is facing a 15-hundred dollar fine -- for speaking about a topic discussed in closed session. the fine was voted into city council rules back in september. moody was the first to pay a fine this year -- after posting on facebook about a discussion over the city )s confederate monument. 22;18 i think fining members of council for communicating with the public is not good it s not a healthy situation and it needs to end newschannel 3 reached out to mayor wright about both matters. he responded in a text message saying he would not comment on personnel matters. rowe )s announcement for mayor is significant because he )s had an adversarial-p&relationship with the city-p&council.

being threatening with a knife. his family -- who watched latham die -- told a different story. the lawsuit says edington s quote "excessive and unreasonable use of deadly force -- was the result of errors and recklessness." -- end quote the latham family attorney -- spoke exclusively to newschannel 3 about the lawsuit. ( (15:49 we think this was a tragedy that didnt have to happen so the family is looking for justice whatever is available both in the criminal system but the civil justice system as well in response to the lawsuit -- edington )s attorney -- released this statment -- saying quote " it was a tragedy for the latham family but it was a tragedy for edington as well. it was never his desire to fire that gun, he only made that decision because he believed his life and the life of others was being threatened. -- end quote. the last three suspects wanted in connection with the portsmouth murder of a 17 year old have been arrested in georgia.
