in norfolk police are investigating two separate shootings that happened last night . officers were first called to the intersection of pollard street and barre street --near church street around 7-45 last night. when they got there -- officers found a 16-year old in the road -- shot. the teen was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover. and around 10- last night officers were called to a separate shooting on lead street. that )s just a few blocks away from norfolk state university. police say the person who was shot was taken to the hospital and should be okay. police say this is unrelated to the shooting on pollard street. no word yet on a suspect in either shooting. a weekend of gun violence across hampton roads left several people shot and one person dead. newschannel threes stefania okolie joins us live in the

we know a eight people total were taken to the hospital some still fighting for their lives --nearly every city in hampton roads responding to a shooting between friday and sunday-- most of the cases in which the shooter is still on the lose. curtis rodarmel/neighb or i walked up and it was the guy leaning over in the seat, just really blood. it scared the crap out of me. curtis rodarmel describes the terrifying moments when he found a 38 year old man shot inside of car. was trying to get his attention and see if he was alive. ) 517080 police say that man was robert knight the third. he was sitting in the drivers seat of a mini-van on kingston avenue in oceanview - and according to police- was shot several times. he was taken to the hospital where he died. this deadly shooting -- all a part of a string of gun violence across hampton roads this weekend. in newport news-- two teens were shot after a fight broke out during a party early saturday morning on hamilton drive. police say a 17- year-old boy and an 18-year old woman were both hit and taken to the hospital. the gun violence continued saturday afternoon --but in hampton where police say a man was shot along nickerson boulevard. he

former first lady nancy reagan has passed away at her home in los angeles. the 94- year-old died of congestive heart

failure. this is video taken in newport news in 2001 -- as she christened the u-s-s ronald reagan. during her eight years in the white house, nancy reagan was known as the "just say no" spokeswoman of anti-drug campaigns. and she was a fierce protector of her husband both personally and politically. she will be buried next to him at the ronald reagan presidential library in california. former president jimmy carter has announced he no longer needs to be treated for cancer. carter says he will continue to undergo scans. he was declared "cancer- free" in december-- but continued with his treatments. carter had an aggressive form of melanoma that had spread to his liver and brain. jimmy carter is 91 years old. the democratic candidates for president went head to head during a c-n-n debate last night in flint michigan. hillary clinton and vermont senator bernie sanders debated their differences in economic policy. earlier sanders snagged his eighth presidential contest win in maine.

on the republican side --florida senator marco rubio won all 23-delegates in puerto rico. hillary clinton and bernie sanders are set to face off again tonight at fox news town hall in detroit. lawyers for bowe bergdahl, the army sergeant who walked away from his post in afghanistan, are asking for a face-to-face meeting with donald trump. trump has repeatedly brought up bergdahl during his campaign, often calling him - quote - "a no good traitor who should have been executed". bergdahl )s lawyers say trump has also given incorrect information about rescue efforts for blaming him for other service- members ) deaths. they say trump )s comments raise questions as to whether bergdahl can now get a fair trial - and they want to question the presidential candidate to see if they should depose him or possibly call him as a witness. a union pension fund is pledging 25-million dollars in loans to help solve the water crisis in flint michigan. flint mayor karen weaver--says the union labor life

a violent weekend across hampton roads---eight people shot in five different cities. people are standing being two virginia firefighters--sus pended for taking a baby to the hospital in their fire truck. new this morning: north korea is yet again threatening nuclear strikes on the united states and south korea. this comes in reaction to the start of huge u-s south korean military drills. the drills will run from now through april. north korea says these drills are invasion rehearsals.

the always poor relations between north korea and its rivals worsened in january, following long- range rocket launch. it has been almost two years since 239 people lost their lives on aboard malaysia airlines flight-370. relatives of those on the boeing triple seven that disappeared on its way to from kuala lumpur, malaysia gathered together yesterday. since the plane went missing families have gotten few answers and continue to ask for the search to continue. last week a piece of wreckage from a boeing 777 -- likely from m-h- 370 -- was found washed ashore on the coast of mozambique. the deadline for families to sue the airline is tomorrow. the u-s coast guard has suspended its search for a texas man who fell from a cruise ship off the florida coast. officials say 46-year old david mossman fell from the 10- th deck of royal caribbeans navigator of the seas ship late friday night.

in a statement made last night the coast guard announced it had suspended the search. the coast guard says the decision to suspend a search is never easy, but they put forth their best efforts. a scuba diver says he was sucked into a massive intake pipe from a nuclear power plant. christopher la cun says it happened while he was diving with a friend near port saint lucie in florida. he said the pipe suddenly pulled him in and he kept tumbling through it for five minutes. the pipe sucks about half-a-million gallons of water a minute to cool nuclear reactors. la cun says the pipe eventually spit him out into a pond at the nuclear plant. he )s now suing the power company because he says the pipe was not properly marked. two virginia firefighter have been suspended for driving a sick toddler to the hospital in their fire truck. captain james kelley and sergeant virgil bloom of the falmouth volunteer fire department in fredericksburg responded to a seizure call of a toddler at a mcdonald s . they say the nearest ambulance was 10 to 15 minutes
