like 25 should not get a tattoo. i like, my kids i'm like no. if i'm paying and you're living under my roof you are not getting a tattoo. it's permanent and i think you will want it removed. >> i think people are a little older they get the sense ever permanency then it's cool. >> i think people think that way because they feel like getting a tattoo is juvenile or irresponsible, but a lot of times if you wait like you said until you're older it really means something important like the tattoo i got or our producer >> katie. who is 40! >> how old are you? >> 43 now. >> you're 43 katie? you look good girl. so, this is a really special tattoo i love it. i love we have this picture here. let's leave it up for a second. on the left is her dog and her husband jason named juneau, and they bought this dog as a wedding present to themselves. has a real sentimental, she's

communicates and i think it is just that realness. people you know one of our sales reps at milwaukee magazine met him at a wedding in mexico and he was out there dancing with everybody. so he is, he is very true to his spiritualty, but he also isn't afraid to connect with people in a very human way. >> it's true. and i think even at a time when people were really having a difficulty with the catholic religion and the church, he is very comfortable in tal and putting them in plain light, which allows people to reconnect with him and the spiritualty and the church part of the catholicism he represents. >> my favorite part of the story he always wanted to be a priest, but after he went to seminary, he took a few years off, he was waiting tables and all of the sudden he forgot some mashed potatoes going back to the kitchen and the moment came and he said i'm ready. god i'm ready.

9:09 am
three quarter right? >> anywhere from the knee down, not all the way down. >> i like that. >> gorgeous. >> yes. >> that's really beautiful. i love that. what else is kind of in right now? >> well, for women, some of the things we're showing in this spread are the silver lame. can you wear it with a sweater over it during the day. i think that's one really strong trend also lot and this spread, the nice pleat skirt which is something i definitely want to get for fall. >> right. and also, we see the brown tones dennis in his shoes carried through the fashion it seems. >> it looks absolutely great with him and he looks great with her. guys when they shop they want things that are versatile and comfortable. guys are event driven. women keep their wardrobes up on a day-to-day, week to week basis

hospital in wisconsin. we worked hard to make learning fun for kids around health and safety. this is spriggy. will you see him on all of our different resources. he shows kids through his own mishaps how to stay safe on the go. >> i like that. because there is a little humor i think in everything that i have seen that spriggy is in. you have the keep spriggy safe there is an app for that. the mobile tour and you have your website. >> yup. you can download our free app on itunes and google play. all of that can be found on the website. kohl's safe and healthy.com. we have a variety of resources there for parents. we have fun web videos watching kids and learning how they may or may not know about safety. >> we're going to take a look at a video in a second. i want to mention, that spriggy was developed to help kids learn, but what i like is it is done in such a fun way. the video we're looking at has

[laughter] >> i'm leaving. [laughter] >> i'm out of here. >> so cute, but a different scenarios really do talk about again how to keep kids safe, give them fun interactive ways to do it. as kids go back to school what are some of the general topics parents need to be aware of? >> we know they'll be learning a lot. science, math, reading, but we also want them to be health literate which means they know where great resources are about their health and adults need to guide them.
9:29 am
their health in talking to their healthcare provider. >> feeling comfortable asking questions is so huge and knowing where to get those trusted sources of information. you have some great guides to keep families safe and it is everything from young kids, things like we talked about bike safety, wearing seat belts, but also older kids like maybe the first time they stay home alone or kitchen safety. i love this guide you have. i have teenagers now and they are often in the kitchen and and cooking. so it's things like watching what you are cooking and using the back burner and a 3-foot safety zone and eating on hard surfaces. checking different things at the home for safety which involves smoke detectors and things like that. wonderful resources there. >> a lot of people don't know that a lot of kids come into our emergency department with burns from cooking in the microwave. that's one thing that parents can help teach their kids about. that just because it's a

today one man's story about going back to school and juggling life as an adult. students, work and all he had going on. welcome ramon flores a professional and graduate of the masters degree program at herzing university. this is angela howard. she's the director of admissions there in kenosha. >> nice to meet you both thank you. >> nice to meet you ray monday. ray monday. ramon. with your great manners i said where are you from? >> texas. >> your undergrad is also from herzing. >> that's in bachelor of science and computer science. >> you did the technology stuff. >> i did. >> and when you went back to school you layered it with an mba. so the business part of it. >> it is. strictly business, but i really did it because i wanted to teach and that was part of the path
9:34 am
there. >> what maded decide you wanted to teach and how did that get you to then doing your continued education? >> you know i don't think it was just a decision or a milestone or anything like that i just wanted it it was something i enjoyed throughout my life and i've had great teachers myself so i just wanted to participate in that. so it was more of a passion than a decision. >> i love that. >> does ramon have a reputation as a great teacher? >> he does. faculty and staff and students. that's very important. have done it. you have gone through the process and so you are a great testimony to the students yes. >> what was it like as a working adult balancing your life you have a step son. all of those types of things that come into gosh i really can't fit it in, but you fit it in. >> it was hard. i certainly can't lie. that is probably the easy answer it's real hard. i think what got me through and got me on track was having a plan and using time efficiency
9:35 am
wrangle every second. >> did you do most of your studies online or in classrooms? >> for the graduate degree it was pretty much all online. >> i wonder if that helps, does that help make it fit in? >> gosh yes. that's probably what made it work in the end was having the flexibility to where i could do it on my time. >> i always wonder when people do online programs, especially if it is an mba what if you get stumped and you're working online and you are kind of removed from the classroom setting, do you have the opportunity at herzing have questions or something you don't understand to actually talk with a real person? >> uh-huh. i mean we have a real professor and a virtual classroom which seems like an interesting thing, but it works. herzing uses a lot of great technology. they have skype type sessions and other media things that can allow you to talk realtime. >> absolutely. >> the unique part is we're one university. herzing verses campus you can come to the campus you need additional support.
9:36 am
is outstanding support. >> i feel like it's a very common sentiments i hear among friend loss have a bachelor degree -- friends who have a bachelor's degree that think i always wanted to get my mba. when someone is thinking i really would like to do this for myself. sometimes it's not that they have a specific plan of teaching, but want that educational background maybe to up their salary or what not what do you say to someone that says i don't know if i can do it. >> i said the s you don't know if you can do it. the point is it gets harder and harder the longer you wait. more and more life shows up so do it don't wait. in a school like herzing university, they will make it work i promise you. >> how long did it take you? >> um, altogether, i think five years between finishing my undergrad and finishing graduate school. >> what about helping students make that transition, one of the things i think is wonderful about herzing is the way you are
9:37 am
make it possible for people to use the education they already have. >> yes that's one of the, because most of our students are working adults coming back to school for whatever reason. we have very unique programs one called degrea where you can get your associate from our gateway partner or a partnership and as a result it will eliminate some time as well as some cost. there is a lot of unique ways to do it. because working adults are going back to school yeah. >> i think it's great. wh start. we're talking about all of this back to school stuff. >> september 6. >> yes. >> people still have time to enroll? >> absolutely. you can enroll actually the week of. it's a university there are things we can do to get it done. we have a outstanding admissions team they would actually meet with physically on the campus if they needed to or we can do it virtually and get it squared away in a short period of time. >> did you get a back pack when you went back? [laughter]
9:38 am
go back to school throw some books in it that is awesome. >> great job you guys. you have a wonderful offer right now, if people call and mention the morning blend, you will get a free t-shirt, i know often you can work with people on enrollment fees and again, asking some questions about transferring credits is wonderful to do. herzing university in kenosha on washington road. you can call (262)671-0675 or toll classes start soon so visit herzing.edu. >> congratulations. >> thanks. >> nice to meet you both. >> thank you very much. up next on the show peaches are certainly one of the great tastes of summer. after the break we're going to show you how to incorporate them

9:43 am
>> i have some sage. >> uh-huh. >> you can put some fresh basil or any fresh herbs out of your garden what not. then fry them up, and, flip them and you had cream for your sauce and heavy whipping cream here. >> when you mentioned earlier caramelizing fruit, does caramelizing usually mean, i know onions with sugar. does it almost always involve sugar? >> well caramelizing when you cook the onions, or any fruit in the pan, the sugars come out and, that is what gets it all dark and it is actually cooking the sugars down which makes carmel. >> uh-huh. >> so that's carl mellizeed. >> how long would you let that sit for quite a while to make the sauce? >> you want to cook the chops
9:44 am
i did it kind of faster. then you just boil your cream up and add your brown sugar. a little sweetness. >> yummy. >> that will bubble up and it will get thick and then you are ready >> are the peaches the last thing you add in a dish like this >> yeah probably 30 seconds before it is done throw the peaches in. i want to taste one of the peaches. tell us about the fun things you brought from the gift store. >> i brought pig stuff and there is a little pig clipboard. shows where the different cuts are from on the pig >> i like that it shows the ear.
9:45 am
where the ear is on the pig. >> katie our producer goes that's auth for vegans. that was funny katie. >> i got to cut into this chop. >> that is really good. can you do them on the grill or pan fry them? >> yup. >> that's wonderful. >> i'm going to get one of these peaches too. this is a special right now just ask for a little peaches and cream pork chops. thank you. yummy. >> all right. >> well just this week people can get this at the machine can get all the time. >> here's the information for the machine shed you can head out and get your own. machine shed.com we're not sharing. it's in pewaukee in appleton, get your own stop looking at ours. much whiter teeth, but the proof is in pictures like this, i mean, the girl on the left, looks not just older, but the girl on the right looks fresher more friendlier, more professional. >> healthier. if you're going to be in that big job interview. if you are out there dating you want to make that great first impression you want to look healthy and confident. whiter teeth do that. when i see people opt out of photos at family reunions and parties or weddings and they are the ones that say i will hold the camera you guys get together it breaks my heart to think maybe their smile is holding them back. you don't have to have perfectly straight teeth. every tooth has character and every smile is different. when you whiten those teeth however what a drastic difference it makes. up to six shades whiter after you use this kit. that is a great measure. >> six shades up to six shades in seven days is incredible.
