9:14 am
about getting fiber in your diet. a lot of people don't get enough. they have issue and they start to mix stuff in watt "e" when we think of fiber we think legitimately regulator and we think older people. prunes and metamucil. the thing about fiber, it's not just beneficial from that. but it helps to remove toxins from their body. people, if they're younger, experiencing certain like menstrual, digestion issues, fiber is, don't think about it as bathroom issues. >> it helps with weight loss,? >> weight loss. prett much everything condition
9:15 am
>> there two different kinds. we have soluble fiber and insoluble. how much do you need? >> soluble this is found in oats, not seeds, beans, lentils, and some fruits and vegetables. this binds the fatty acids, and helps to remove estrogen from the body and slows down absorption in the body. >> you said helps with hormones. >> this is what helps to create bulk, helps regulator, helps to balance the ph in intestines, this is most whole greens and fruits and veggies. >> insoluble doesn't mean you can't process? >> it means it doesn't bind with water in a sense you're right. it doesn't break down. it scrubs the intestinal wall. it helps create bulk. it's necessary.
9:16 am
variety is key. >> this is something i get confused by. certain things don't get absorbed or don't help you unless combined with something. is it good on your own? >> no, you don't want to eat just beans because your belly will be mad at you. you want a variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, beans. you want both soluble and insoluble fiber because they work together in the body. >> is that of both or 50 grams of soluble or insoluble? >> we've been going with 35 grams lately. that's kind of the goal which people don't get close to, however, recently experts have shown if you get 50 grams of fiber a day. you definitely have greater health benefits and longevity. that seems like a ton of fiber. this is combined. i'm not asking people to keep track of each. again, variety.
9:17 am
here. >> we'll break down what 50 grams looks like. can you have too much? >> i guess you can. i highly doubt that's most people's problems. i highly doubt it. >> let's start with breakfast. >> a lot of these are easy. you're probably eating some of them. >> the biggest fiber foods, berries are awesome. >> all berries? >> all berry, blackberry, raspberries, 4 grams of f 1 cup. oatmeal. this is one of my easiest breakfast. you put three, four cups of oatmeal, peanut butter, flaxseed, so this bowl right here you're looking at 10 grams. breakfast, 14 grams of fiber. >> do you have that oatmeal recipe on your website? >> uh-huh. really super easy. >> lunch, this is an open-faced
9:18 am
to make a difference. sprouted bread will have a lot more fiber than pber than regul >> fiber bread is good, too. i think it's really good when it's toasted. it's great. >> you hput hummus, it's made o garbanzo a little spinach spouts, avocado has 5 grams of fiber. >> it's the perfect food. >> again, car bohydrates are necessary. these are slow carbs, because they are backed with fiber and also fat, that's not going to mess up your blood sugar. again we're looking at fiber to help balance blood sugar as
9:19 am
>> it's fishy. >> it came out of the lake. >> it's not me, it's the fish. >> i'll get my witch hazel. >> this is a basic dinner. you have protein which typically doesn't have fiber in it. half cup of broccoli, one gram, cup of cooked brown rice, avocado and a side salad and we did pass this up at lunch. raspberries, a cup has 8 grams of fiber. >> even more than but >> and blackberries, too. >> you would think when you steam it it break downes the fiber, but don't let that -- not like you're looking to eat a bunch of raw vegetables. if you're not eating any fiber you want to slowly increase. >> that's all i need to know about fiber. >> let's talk about nick, your brother. equally important. >> we just announced her brother -- we've had nick on the
9:20 am

9:21 am
type of thing, but they see him as being somebody who is a good sport with it all, and he has -- girls love making out with him. >> wow. >> he looks great. he seems like a really good guy. >> he is a good guy. i think we're all kind of like, all right. interesting call. >> it's got to be funny for a mother to watch their son making out on tv. >> for a family, they're like, eww. >> your new sister-in-law is out there somewhere this that group of 25 women. >> and i'm sure she's just dying to meet us. >> you know, i'll be wear the sasquatch costume. >> i think in general, we definitely support him. we're happy for him. we wish him the best of luck. >> come on. >> no, i'm serious.
9:22 am
kind of like, you've done them all? >> this is like the main one, right? this is where it really -- i truly do hope he does want to find somebody, he truly does, and i think he -- >> yeah. and i think he's kind of been through the ropes with the franchise, you know? he didn't come off the gates like everyone loved nick. but i think as it's gone on, people got to see how he is, yeah. >> we love him, we support him. i don't know how bound he'll within his tour by i hope he'll come back here. >> i'm sure he will. that would be great. >> thanks for chatting about it. >> all right. still ahead, which state has the most natural parks? we'll have a fun quiz celebrating the park system's 100th birth day. up next, if you're folding a pillow, or stealing it from your spouse you may have a pillow problem.

9:27 am
>> i believe that, too. because pillows are so important. >> how do you know if you have the right pillow? how do you know how to get the right pillow? there's so many choices out there, right? >> the first thing is, understanding -- understanding you need one, right? so, obviously, if you're not sleeping well, that's a good place to start. it's a pretty low hurdle. but the fact is, it reflection. people tend to cope with what they have. i don't think people know it's possible with the new pillow technology. >> people talk about, if you're going to invest in anything, you should invest in the place you sleep. have a really great bed and pillows because they do mean so much. a lot of times we don't want to replace old pillow. if you're ready to do that and most people know we should. how do you pick the right one? certain ways to match the ways
9:28 am
like? how does it work? fundamentally it's a sampling process. it means you have to have a huge selection. we've tried to relate them in a way that means something. we have a couple pillows. this is a warm hug from >> aww. there's grand na ma. >> absolutely. it was on the bed. i got it. >> so, in this one right here, this is a soft peanut butter and jelly sandwich. >> oh, my. i love it. >> oh, yeah, it is. i do like those, a lot. >> oh, it's the kind that if you squish, it says squished.

9:30 am
