welcome back. coming up saturday september 17 one week from tomorrow there is a special conference calling solving the hormone puzzle. >> the goal is to provide the most up to date accurate information on the role of hormones on the body. joining us now are monica zatarski and debra muth. great to see you ladies. >> thank you for having us. >> thank you so much. i think we could probably talk the entire show about hormones and the effect of them being out our mood to our physical health and mental and emotional health too. talk about the event in particular coming up not this saturday, but next. what will people experience and learn as part of this? >> we're really excited to have this event together because i think it is one of the first times that we're addressing a lot of the hormone involvement in the body.
9:13 am
about progesterone and testosterone. we have a third speaker who will be talking about adrenal disfunction and, all three of these connect to each other. and interrelate. we can't just isolate one in balance and expect to feel better. they are all connected. so, we're really excited that next saturday we'll be addressing all three in one series. >> uh-huh. >> someone comes to say learn a lot because i think the more you learn about these hormones in your body the more curious you if issues you are having are related to those. what will people take away from it when they attend? will they learn how to get tested or maybe how their symptoms are relate to go what you're talking about? >> specifically, what i will be addressing is the thyroid and my objectives are to have you come away equipped with what testing and thyroid markers are important.
9:14 am
disorder and then as i'm a pharmacist, as a pharmacist i want to leave you there is a lot of options in terms of thyroid hormone replacement. i want to equip you with what those may be. >> uh-huh. >> yeah and so as far as looking at hormones that's my expertise so we're going to try to look at why do hormones become out of balance. not just because we're getting older -- >> not just aging. >> it's not just aging. stress is one. infection is another. if you have a chronic illness or have system that is going to make the hormones much more difficult to balance and you may lose them earlier and it may not be a true loss of them it may just be because the immune system is out of balance. we're going to talk about things like lyme disease and mole toxicity and other things that can cause those to tank and how do we get them back and how do you work with somebody to figure out that's what is happening verses, i'm just getting older and my hormones are imbalanced. we'll talk about the differences of testing and what are your options for treatment and why we
9:15 am
bioidentical hormone verse as synthetic hormone. >> when you are talking estrogen, testosterone are you talking to mainly women or men as well? >> men as well. men need to replace hormones just like women do. they have a little difference, but a lot of this goes on both sides of the sexes. immune system is immune system and hormone depletion is hormone depletion. >> is it fair to say that a lot of people don't know they are hormone depleted in any area? what i'm wondering is, who should attend this event? it's probably everybody. but what are signs you are maybe having a hormone depletion or that there is some area where you are lacking? >> a lot of different symptoms can speak to the hormones and again, the body is so interconnected, i would go so far to say probably any symptom has -- >> could be sleep issues or mood. >> pms.
9:16 am
35, but that's when our hormones start to fall and we don't look at baselines we don't look at all of those minor symptoms some of that irritability and moodiness and insomnia and lack of sex drive. all of those are the beginning stage of those hormones changing. it's not when we hit 50 they all of the sudde go array. it happens early on so the younger you are the better. >> infertility too. >> probably a big one for men and women. >> correct. >> yeah so it's really such a wide r everything. but i also think mood probably is very much affected as well as maybe mental focus or stamina. >> yes. >> all of those yes. >> will people actually carry something away from this event? >> they will carry away a lot of knowledge. a lot of knowledge. it's a great way to explore these topics and i think even most importantly, how they are all interconnected and all interrelated. >> uh-huh.
9:17 am
you in the past and we've even just the fact that exhaustion can be due to your hormones, your thyroid, your adrenals and really getting stuff in balance can change everything for you. you have this great event coming up which we talked about which is saturday the 17th. registration is limited. >> correct. >> people need to let you know they are coming. it is called solving the hormone puzzle conference. you can attend by going here. it's saturday the 17th at 8:00 s hotel in pewaukee. d space is limited. register today if you can, by going to the website. you can enter in the promo code morning blend for $15 off the registration fee. here's the phone number as well to call md custom rx. welcome back to the morning blend. every child develops at their own rate, but there are milestones they should reach by certain ages. >> here is laura lange with curative care. i think this is an important topic. you know i hear parents talking about milestones a lot. even from my nieces and nephews when things are not hit at certain times people start getting concerned. i wonder if that is the marker that for development that people start to talk about and where you kind of come in talking about these development milestones? >> yes. there is a wide range of development, but if you have concerns it's important to talk to your pediatrician and work those issues out and they can always call and make a referral. >> are there certain types of
9:22 am
orthopedic conditions in particular where it is clear that a child could benefit from the types of services that you offer? >> yes. we offer physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy. even massage therapy for we see a wide range of- disabilities including down syndrome, autism, cerebal palsy. children born prematurely and may be having a slow development as a result. we also see children with speech and language delays. sensory processing disorder or children who don't really have an identified development carat disorder or delay just showing incoordination or muscle strength issues that makes it difficult for them to keep up with their peers. how important is that early intervention? >> it is critical for children and inf infants. studies have shown that infants and children have a special
9:23 am
ability to rewire and adapt to change. and so, early intervention can really make brain level changes. >> i would love to hear some success stories about kids you have worked with maybe especially whether there is early intervention where you have seen some great progress as a result of some of the things you're able to do with them. >> it's really neat on a weekly basis to see throughout our clinic, kids taking their first steps, saying their first chewing and wallowing food for the first time. being able to climb a play structure like their peers can. being able to swing on a swing without becoming dizzy and having good balance. >> do people when they come to you, do they need a referral from their primary or how does that work? >> again if have you a concern about your child's development, talk to your pediatrician about it. and then they can make the referral for therapy service. you can call our clinic and schedule an evaluation once that referral is in place. >> there is so much information
9:24 am
level as well as at youth level as it relates it sports. so sports injuries, but also concussions in particular. do you work with any of those types of issues? >> yes. we see a lot of local high school athletes for orthopedic and cop cushions. some of those post concussion issues that might warrant therapy include continuing to see balance issues, dizziness, poor concentration, vision issues, that would warrant a referral. >> as it relates to concussions i have hearde baseline testing, so like if you have a child who is involved in a sport maybe you might just get a baseline test. >> that's pretty standard. >> you have a basis for comparison. >> that's standard among high school athletes they are doing a lot of studies in the area about that so, student athletes are getting these baseline tests so they can better measure what happens post concussion. >> smart. >> absolutely. >> what about therapy for adults? we're talking a lot about children and sports and youth. do you work with adults as well?
9:25 am
services and, you need a referral as well at that time, but we see a lot of people who might have overuse injuries, ankle, knee, hip, back pain. we also see people who have arthritis and more chronic issues may have had a knee or hip replacement. also individuals post stroke, or head injury. also we have a very strong incontinence program for women. >> that's wonderful. do most people and i'm sure he was case is different, but do most people care or is the goal very often to teach people exercises or get them rehabilitated so they don't maybe always need the services that you offer? >> it really depends on what you're coming in for. if you have more of chronic condition like arthritis you may be more in and out. some people need a short-term episode of care to get them back on their feet pain free and back to their normal level of function. >> it seems like there are so many different places you can
9:26 am
you so unique? >> we offer ptot speech therapy service its and massage therapy. we also have aquatics for children and adults. we have two locations one in new berlin and one in elkhorn that seserves the greater walworth area. i think what make it is special is the physical structure it's a small clinic small business feel, but we have experts in the field. everyone that works there from the receptionist to the billing staff to the aid that building we are all there for the people that walk in the door we're there for them 100%. >> i'm sure it's a wonderful feeling to see not just kids, but adults get their life back or their movement back or their ability or to see a child with speech development be able to live a happy healthy life. >> i have been there for 17 years and i'm proud to say i work there because of all of the great work we do. >> curative care new berlin

9:28 am
9:29 am
9:30 am
that's right we're back now with the nationally syndicated film critic ryan jay. happy friday. >> happy friday. >> what up ry great to see you. this movie we're talking about sully with tom hanks i think a lot of people are talking about this because it is based on a true s >> yes. but everybody i think puts themselves in that imagine if it happened to me position. >> yeah. it's like and then you see this movie. this movie it's like the oscar race has now gun. expertly directed by clint eastwood, tom hanks it's so well edited. the sound design when the birds hit the plane is so terrifying. it's just something where, you don't want to be on that plane, but this movie puts you on it you know. >> how is tom hanks?
9:31 am
now of all time because my other favorite robin williams has passed so he is my favorite how is he in this? is he phenomenal? >> he is as good as he has ever been. it's so great how he has become sully like the white hair and mustache. it's a different role for him. he really becomes the man he does a fantastic job. there are great rousing speeches he has that make it very oscar worthy i think he could get a nomination. he is playing a true american hero. it is amazing what he went through. this f the story that i don't remember being reported by the media. he was on trial basically for whether or not he could have returned the plane to an airport to land. and so the insurance company for the airline was trying to blame him saying he made a mistake not really crediting him for the amazing job he did saving all 155 souls. >> unbelievable that all 155 people survived that. is there something about the timing of this film that you find -- >> absolutely. the structure of the movie is phenomenal. it's like a puzzle that fits
9:32 am
like i thought the movie would open and be like sequential. start with the plane and then the trial after. but no, it's out of sequence, and just builds anticipation. it is so cool how the script is put together i love that aspect. >> who is this directed by and does it seem as though it is very congruent with that directer? >> it is clint eastwood. he is fantastic, but some of the shots are so good they are almost like spielberg. it's really cool. i love how it puts you on the plane, butou i saw this in i-max there are moments where you are frustrated, terrified and relieved. there are people crying throughout the movie because it is amazing. >> did it change how you feel about flying? >> will they show this movie on planes? [laughter] >> oh, no. >> i hope not. >> they can't. >> you got to see it. i saw it in i-max i am a little nervous to get on a plane because of witnessing that. the landing seems so real. thank god they survived.
9:33 am
event like this. this movie you feel it a little bit. >> i want to see it. i mperium rated r. >> this is movie is based on true events. it is really scary. it deals with white supremacist groups that want to create a new holocaust in the world. >> that's the basic premise of it. do you see some pros and cons with this plus and minuses? >> yeah i mean the minuses areth weak. and there are some amateurish moments to the story in the way it comes across. but, i was distracted a little bit by the good performances because you have daniel rad cliff as a fbi agent. >> harry potter what? >> he plays a young nazi skin head. you have tony coolest as his
9:34 am
hitler's birthday it doesn't distract enough from the script this is one to rent. >> it makes me angry i don't want to see it. >> rent it. new movie club? >> we have a couple coming up, tuesday september 13 bridgett jones's baby renee zellweger is back. it's at 7:30 p.m. you can enter to win at my website. >> it will be nice to see that character come back and have her pregnant. is she pregnant in it? is she what is happening i haven't watched the trailer. >> and you have another one also? >> wednesday september 14 is the new blair witch movie. so the franchise continues. >> they are still making those? >> this one is at 7:00 p.m. if you are interested in this -- >> what number is this do we know? >> number 3. >> is it shaky? >> i don't watch trailers anymore it sets up expectationses. i just don't want to be disappointed. >> that is bold.
9:35 am
like us watch trailer because we don't know if we're going to see the movie you know you're going to see the movie. >> it gives the movie a better chance to impress me if i haven't seen the trailer first. >> i'm sure this is something you are dreading. >> i'm very excited. i'm on the way right after this going to tinnily park illinois just outside of chicago. i have been on tour all year sharing with the c live. i invite everybody to come join me today, tomorrow and sunday. i will be doing presentations there is other live entertainment and it is going to be super fun. midwest oz fest.com. i would love to see people there. >> awesome. >> are you going to be wearing your red shoes? >> i may. >> i love those they are so cool. you can like ryan on facebook follow him on twitter and for his full movie reviews

a lot of that today. it's the best way to express your personality through clothing. jerseys are some of my favorites they let people know what your personality is all about. >> you can shop the looks at nfl shop.com/women. i know what molly would look like. >> all right the nfl season kicked off last night the packers play on sunday we have enlisted our birthda technical producer paul puglisi to read trivia questions. >> he moon lights for camp bar tosa on friday nights. we have an expert. >> are you going to be doing that on your birthday? >> no because that's sunday not a monday. >> all right cool. >> minus one for molly. 9:42 am
a carolina panthers, b denver broncos, c new england patriots, d seattle seahawks. very very easy. tiffany gets it correct. >> it is the denver broncos peyton manning. >> oh, yeah. >> question number two, who was the nfl mvp last season? was it peyton manning, tom brady, aaron rodgers or cam newton? >> cam newton. >> i knew it. i was going to pick him. >> his first mvp award. there it is cam newton. moving on question number three, last year what packers star spent all of the regular season on injured reserve? is it eddie lacey, julius pepper, jordie nelson or mace son crosby. did not play a single down in the regular season?
9:43 am

[laughter] >> i have a question for you. >> we still got more here. do we have time? do we have time? >> 30 seconds. all right. really quick, make the official signal this is what the referee makes for these penalties. okay. you got to make the official signal false start. welcome back. there are lots of reasons for us to get dark circles under our eyes. not enough sleep, some they may be hereditary. they can make you tired or older than your age and look that way. here with revolutionary ways to treat the dark circles is melinda mckenzie. throughout this discussion we're going to be seeing a realtime lapse video. it is untouched and it demonstrates how this new product called plexaderm works. right? >> it's so exciting taking the country by storm. just really quickly what it basically does is pull moisture
9:49 am
>> it's that puffiness as well as the dark circles. >> yeah. so what we tell people is anything on your face that you are worried about, a line, a crease, the bags, the puffiness because what this does is pull the moisture to the surface while it tightens your skin that's how it gets rid of those and works throughout the day. put it on once in the morning you're good to go. >> how long does it take before you really see the results of it? >> we have ritchie in this video applying the cream so we can tell you through time life how it works. you put it put a little dab under your eye. clean dry, no prep work something i like. men as well as women nothing to think about. the reason i like the time lapse it shows the distinction. ritchie here his struggle is the under eye bags he has the actual physical bags under his eyes right. >> that's what i have too. >> it's frustrating because it doesn't matter how much moisturizer how much makeup right they are still there that's the issue. the great thing when you asked how quickly it works can you

within a minute or so you see it decrease. >> for sure we're a minute ten seconds in. the eye on the left is exceptionally different from the eye on the right where you still see large bags. >> it's exciting so we tell people like really ten minutes tops is when the full spectrum happens so we say put the cream under your eyes, your creases, forehead lines whatever you want and dry your hair, brush your teeth do what you need to do. give it ten minutes on your clean dry skin. then if you have a guy if you don't want to moisturize don't. if you are a woman and go ahead. the only thing we say is make sure you use a moisturizer without oil. we do offer a serum if you want that in addition to make sure you're using right moisturizer. we want plexaderm to do its job. pull that moisture up and dry the skin. >> then can you put makeup over it. >> who doesn't want to do that i don't want to get rid of my bags and not wear makeup i don't go to my mailbox without makeup on.
9:51 am
-- ten minute mark where it is at what plexaderm does. you don't have to think about it you put it on your skin and let it do its thing. >> this video i have seen go viral. it's a powerful product and people have tried so many different things. tea bags, ice. one thing that is really important for us to note this does not involve a doctor visit, it does not involve injections of any kind. >> yeah it's very exciting this is brand-new technology been working on this for they took some of the ingredients there the shell rock, clay from the shell rock and that's how they formulate it and that's how it works. pulling up the moisture which is really important like -- >> that's why you have the rock there. >> that's why i have the rock to show where it comes from and why it is doing what it is doing. that's the big question what is the distinction between this product and the other products. the distinction is the form lace of being able to pull the moisture to the surface, while it tightens it. that's why the bags go away. we're not covering them up. >> there is the rock right
9:52 am
we're going to explain the serum in a moment. >> exactly. so you know what i really like about it is there is no prep work, no doctors no thinking ahead. they have been working on this quite a while. like you said it's on facebook been taking the country by storm because it works. that's why we like to do that time lapse video so people can see. not just the undereye bags lines, creases, forehead lines anything you want to fill that's what you want to use it on it's good for the day. >> taking a look at the video again. you can see after several minutes it is diminished even more so it healthy. >> i know that's the other thing too because remember because you are pulling the moisture to the surface of your skin that's why not everybody needs lotion. that's the issue i have. i just get the lines my skin is super dry. the other thing about ritchie he is a friendly guy, but we asked him not to smile. the reason because we want too see the face exactly the same as before and after. obviously if you smile it changes the effects. we want you to see it like that
9:53 am
not covering anything up we're actually making that go away. >> let's look at before and afters too. other demonstrations of this product, plexaderm really working and again this is just a cream. this guy -- >> can you stand it? >> i think has huge bags that looks like almost impossible. same with this woman and dark circles. >> so that's the important thing here. every kind of skin we're doing the same thing at the same time, pulling the moisture, tightening the skin. that's what you want and youwa that's what is so exciting. >> could you do it on the eyelid? some people have puffy eyelids too. >> what we tell people is anything bothering you that you feel like you want tightened, play around with it and see what works for you. for me it's like the lines right here i don't know why they bother me so much. they shouldn't. they show you smile a lot, but that's my thing. for people with bags that's really important. >> do you that one more time. >> sure yeah this is me this is my thing this is what i worry
9:54 am
indentation on my face and i wanted it to be softer. >> the serum is the one with the hyaluronic acid which is something you would recommend if people want to moisturize in addition to the undereye cream because it doesn't have oils in it. >> make sure put this on clean dry skin. if you choose to use a moisturizer stay way from the oils. that's why we offer the hyaluronic serum if you're not sure what you have start it off right. everything has back guarantee. >> special offer too. this is exciting thank you so much. moisturizing the skin is easy now too. getting under the eye bags crow's feet, wrinkles to disappear from view is remarkable. that's what that does. this morning blend special for plexaderm is happening right now. the get the plexaderm and moisturizing serum 40% off plus if you buy two, you get the third for absolutely free.
