three are in place. >> lisa lamkins is with aarp wisconsin. we think of it as appealing to older people because we talk about retirement, but really we should be thinking about it younger the better. >> absolutely. the planning for your retirement is maybe not as much fun as planning a girlfriend's party, we want to make sure that people are able to enjoy life, as long as possible and it takes you know having the financial resources to do that. >> you got to be able to afford the well spa. >> >> and the mimosa bar come on. >> totally with you. we talked about that three legged stool. the three legs each one is important right? >> they really are. when we talk about that we talk about social security really as the foundation for financial security in retirement. then of course, there are personal savings everybody trying to sort of scrape what we can to set aside for retirement and then the company pensions and 401(k)s unfortunately, those
9:36 am
side, it's becoming harder and harder and all too often now the three legged stool is turning into a one legged stool with social security being what people depend on the most. >> and that's a big one as you mentioned. what is aarp doing to keep social security solvent for generations as they age? >> that's really key. because, social security as you know everybody knows got a little bit of a shortfall problem, and so aarp is really, doing everything we can it's our top priority to particularly people in the future, future beneficiaries don't face a 25% benefit cut. we've got a website people can go check out it's called 2016 take a stand .org. that kind of highlights what we're doing around social security right now. but it's so important because, so many people, there are 3 million wisconsin workers paying into social security right now. if we don't do something in just about 20 years people will face a significant benefit cut.
9:37 am
part of it is on congress to do its part to keep the program active and solvent. is there anything that can be done on the state level to help people who are working to prepare to also save for retirement? >> absolutely. people know social while it is that foundation was never meant to be the only source of income and retirement. so, we really need to do our part and, there are a lot of states across the country that have set up what are called work and save working put aside their own money into retirement accounts to start saving for retirement. and aarp is really pushing those because we all need to take responsibility for saving for our retirement. this makes it easy for people who might not have access otherwise to do so. >> i think people always want to learn more and understand it better. you have this great event coming up a free financial freedom event november 15. that will be going on at that event? >> this is a fantastic opportunity for people to start

we have a nationally recognized financial planner. who has been focused in the wall street journal, who is going to go through information, and tools and some really like top notch financial planning tips for folks. we also have a local attorney who is going to talk a little bit about medicare. open enrollment for medicare. people will have to make some healthcare decisions around that because we know healthcare also you know adds into part of financial security. the financial freedom event is free. we'll serve dinner so we try to add a little fun in this. >> super nice. >> we really do encourage your viewers to come on down. >> and i think it would be great if people know that they should register online. especially if you have got dinner. >> absolutely we want to make sure there is enough for everyone. >> this is a wonderful thing that the aarp is doing.
9:39 am

feingold: i'm russ feingold and i approve this message. this is wisconsin. and this. and this. and this. full of good people who work hard. why let washington take our jobs and send them off to china and mexico? my opponent backs bad trade deals that export jobs, and billion dollar tax loopholes for big corporations. i'm going to close those loopholes and help small businesses in wisconsin grow and create jobs. for the folks who work hard...

welcome back. this book i like you just fine when you're not around is a u.s.a. today best seller. the alter says it woman who has ever pondered the unfairness of life. we all know life is not fair or perfect sometimes we need loved ones to step back a bit. >> we're happy to welcome ann garvin back to the morning blend. great to see you. >> it's so good to see you. thank you so much for having me. >> i got it love the title of your book. i love you just fine when you're not around. what is so funny instantly people come to mind when they
9:43 am
>> who do most people identify as that person? >> their husband. [laughter] >> here's the funny thing the men that look at the title they look at it and go haha oh, that's i bet my wife thinks that. [laughter] >> shame immediate shame and recognition. >> so awesome. >> i love that. >> let's talk about your book what people can expect from it. what is inside? >> well, it's i really think it is sort of ann garvin them for people one of the ways is we care for everybody else, but don't care for ourselv. we don't know when to stop. it is hard to know how much is too much, how much are we giving away? loyalty works in and shame works in and guiltiness works in pretty soon everybody is exhausted. >> we talked at the top of the show about rest. >> this show is perfect for me right now. [laughter] >> and aarp because it is really about the sandwich generation
9:44 am
we're taking care of our parents and those kinds of things so perfect set up. >> there is a lot of guilt that goes around with it. the more we do the more we keep doing i think. let's talk about, the fact that care giving is so central in this book. think everybody can identify with care giving for somebody. >> yeah, well certainly especially mothers who are care giving and i actually my mother has long-term alzheimer's and she's been sick for a very long time. my dad is kind of the hero in that because hes caregivers and has been for many years, but, but that role reversal is such a difficult thing to do because we know our parents wouldn't have wanted us to do that in any way, shape or form, but you feel compelled and you're honored by the care giving, but it's a really difficult thing to do. the one thing about this book i think that takes people by surprise is that it is really funny. and, i know alzheimer's is not funny. there is many things that are not funny, but, it is you know
9:45 am
are funny. terrible things happen and sometimes, you just laugh with this awful hysterical hillaryty of the situation and later on maybe you tell people that understand. but you know i tried to bring out as much humor as possible in those situations so you don't really want to die when you read it. >> exactly. >> and your main character is doing the same thing caring for her mother who has alzheimer's. >> yes she is. she cares for everybody way too much. in some case there is is a character in there that says you know you're good just quit it. -- care for me. >> best thing about being an author and advice you give to other people who want to publish? >> the best thing about being an author i'm not just joking around it is meeting the readers and other authors and people who are so into books because it's a niche. i mean we're into a lot of things and there is a lot of things pulling our attention in lots of ways, but readers are so much fun because, they treat all of your characters like they are real and they ask these
9:46 am
love you i know that answer. i think my best advice for people who want to be an author is that you have to be doggedly persistent. and overly optimistic. and also, able to listen to really good advice. one of the things i have done recently is opened up my own writing program with another author of mine it's called the 5th semester. >> can people find out about that on your >> yeah they can. it's called the 5th semester.com. they can find it that way also. >> awesome. ann garvin.net is where people can find out more about i like you just fine when you're not around. i love it. great to see you again. there so good to see you so much.

dating over the aiming of 40 can be difficult for so many reasons. wrinkles, under eye bags and crows feet don't help. here to help us is lifestyle consultant tia leslie. >> thank you so much for having me. >> great to have you. >> dating can be difficult. over 40 even more difficult. not just about finding the right person or where to meet people, but looking your best.
9:50 am
foot forward when dating or even when you are just going out day-to-day. if you have those visual signs of aging, undereye bags coming in. the crow's feet you have the expression, plexaderm can really help drastically reduce the appearance of these fine lines and wrinkles within minutes and i have got some really great video to really show you how well it works. >> the first model that we're looking at is lisa. so you can really see the transformation yourself. it's one thing for us to talk about it, but to actually see it is anything on and we have done a time lapse video. we just applied a little plexaderm and makeup to complete the look. you can see how much younger she looks, more vibrant, her skin is mazing and smooth she is ready for the day. >> yeah she is. you can actually go out then, feeling and looking possibly ten years younger. >> ten years younger and i don't about you, but i have pretty
9:51 am
worked until now. this is plexaderm and it is amazing. you are going it see some of these before and afters amazing transformations and it really, you know you can really tell with the bags under the eyes, the circumference of those bags are going to just diminish within minutes. i don't know of another product that works this quickly. >> these are untouched. before we were applying makeup too. these are untouched photographs. >> untouched time lapse video of when you apply the product and just in a few minutes you're going to see the circumference of that bag is unheard of. >> and not just looking younger, but also more attractive when you can see those fine lines being erased, the bags going away a truly dramatic difference. those are before makeup too. with lisa we have another picture where you can see this side by side comparison. >> exactly. you can see when she doesn't have anything on and we just applied the plexaderm she looks amazing. but when we completed the look with a little makeup she even looks more amazing.
9:52 am
to wear makeup or not you're still going to look amazing and the plexaderm can really help those areas. >> let's talk about what is happening in the videos that we're seeing how it actually works. >> it's pretty amazing. again the videos are great testaments to how well the product works. this is how you do it you wake in the morning apply it to clean dry skin and let it do its job, let it sink in. jump in your shower, do your hair, come back if you want to put moisturizer on it you can. in it. they have a serum that works well with it. again, if you want to put makeup on over it you can and you're out the door looking amazing. >> that's eye why there are two products one is the plexaderm and one is the serum. the main ingredient that is in it is naturally dry. >> this is the technology that is amazing. they have taken shall rock and
9:53 am
they have infused it into the plexaderm so when you apply to clean dry skin it helps pull up the moisture from your skin and then tightens simultaneousously to really give you that youthful smooth clean appearance out the door looking amazing. >> i think so too. this is a cream it is important not an injection. this does not require a doctor's visit. there is no waiting for results. you just asupply it like you said and kind of wait and let it do its work. >> it's not injectable. wrong with them, but they can be iffy. sometimes they might work. sometimes you might not get the effect you want. not to mention costly. this i like you're applying you're in control, you put it on in the morning. use it as part of your beauty ritual. >> a lot of research went into it. the technology is derived from the minerals you were just talking about too. i think the people we just saw in the pictures with undereye bags those dramatic results are very telling. >> very telling.
9:54 am
contour things away. you can't really contour a bag away. with plexaderm it sinks in and just within a few minutes the circumference of that bag is going to diminish. if you're a new mother or haven't gotten a lot of sleep or working late works for everybody. you're really going to see a major difference. >> like we have said it's one thing to talk about it it's another thing to see it in person and see it for yourself. the under eye bags, its feet and wrinkles to disappear is really impressive. >> right now there is a great special for morning blend viewers. you can get plexaderm and the moisturizing serum 40% off that entire package and right now if you buy two you get the third one free so you can share with a friend, or a loved one. all you need to do is call toll free because supplies are limited. the number is (800)865-8214 or you can visit them online at plexaderm.
9:55 am
me great to be here. >> let's head to tiff. here's today's art's cameras plus picture of the day. andrea sent this photo. it makes her heart melt every time she looks at it. this was her son tanner with her boyfriend taken last year at miller park. she said it speaks volumes about the love they share.
