9:01 am
>> good morning. >> black friday. >> everybody is probably starving this morning. >> right. >> because they ate so much yesterday. >> isn't it funny how that works. you think you're going to wake up and still be full. it doesn't happen. >> you're not -- you're so hungry, and then you have left overs for breakfast. >> i was just going to say the only thing better than a thanksgiving meal, because i really do love thanksgiving food, is the left overs. >> reheating it, making a big sandwich. mmmm. >> a lot of you are thinking about shopping today. well, it's a myth that black friday is the biggest shopping day of the year. can you guess when is the biggest shopping day of the year? >> i'm not sure i can pick one day, i'm going it say because so many people put off shopping it's going to be close to the christmas holiday. >> it's the saturday before christmas especially when christmas is on a holiday or on a weekend, sorry. >> that makes sense. >> it basically proves to us we're more procrastinators than early birds when is it comes to
9:02 am
friday get specific deals, and i actually know a ton of people who do black friday shopping for themselves or the household like a new tv or things like that, not always their overall shopping. so they say people are looking for specific deals for themselves, for someone that they love, but not all of their shopping. so it really is outweighed. >> interesting. yeah. because i think a lot of times black friday are people that are looking for very specific deals like you said -- things in their house like a tv or something. they have been looking long enough they know this is a crazy deal i have to take advantage of this. >> this is what i want, they are the ones getting in line for it. and getting the family gift. >> yes. i had this pointers for being a great guest that i think is so so you know the holiday season you're probably going to a lot of parties, getting invited to places. >> you know who the bad guest was yesterday. [laughter]. >> maybe they are still there. [laughter]. >> don't tell anyone who it is. >> don't tell them, maybe just share this information politely with them. turn the tv up really loud right now. >> hey check this
9:03 am
right. >> maybe the bad guest is still sleeping, hasn't helped you with cleanup. still sleeping, you don't know when they are going to leave. >> drank too much, said a lot of really inappro-pro stuff. all right. >> trying to avoid everybody in the morning. >> right. so the first thing they say is if you get an invitation rsvp asap. they say don't wait. people are trying to plan, and you got to look at your calendar, they say even one or two days max. if you worry you're goingto forget, set an alarm to remind you have to rsvp. >> i learned this from you because i am horrible at this and it used to be something that used to drive you nuts about me. i still do it sometimes. but i like to wait until the last minute because sometimes you just don't know if you can do it because you have all of these things going on or whatever. i learned that it really, really ticks people off so. >> i just count you as a yes. >> until i say no. >> until you say no. [laughter] >> this one is if you bring something, make sure and i think
9:04 am
fully cooked, that it's in a presentable dish and it has the necessary serving tools. >> that's great. don't bring undercooked eggs. get everyone sick. >> if you have to do a lot of prep stuff in the kitchen that's a pain for the host. >> i like the serving tools idea otherwise, you get there and you are like oh, do you have a whatever. they are like running around already with their own stuff. you don't need to add that stress. >> i totally agree. when the host is this is my thing, they aryi you want people to eat because you put a lot of work into it. be a herder they say, so if the host is trying to get people to move to another room or something, be somebody who is like, yup i am going there come on everybody. >> use a dinner bell. dinner bells are underrated. >> put away the phone -- you're good at that. >> uhhuh. >> talk to the stranger that's really important. the last thing is if you think you've overstayed your welcome you know the host is like dozing off or something don't apologize, because they said the host will naturally say it's okay, you should stay.
9:05 am
and leave. [laughter] >> i haven't gotten that one down yet. >> i'm the last one to leave. >> you might be the last one to leave, but people like to think they are throwing a party that people want to stay at. >> that's true, and i always help clean. >> yes, you to you're good for that, too. >> and you always put away your phone. have you a lot of things going for you as a guest. all right, before we move on with the show, we want to take a look at today's arts cameras plus picture of the day. >> viewer bridgett miller sent this adorable photo of her three-year-old daughter lucy. lucy was at her school's halloween party and had already changed out of her kitty cat costume. you should never change out of your kitty cat costume, lucy. however she couldn't resist leaving on her whiskers while enjoying a cupcake. how cute is that? >> that is awesome. >> you rocked it lucy. >> i love the name lucy, too. that's adorable. >> bridgett she is adorable. >> if there is someone special in your life you want to see them on tv, make them our picture of the day. all you have to do is email us and tell us their story, too to pictures@themorningblend.com.
9:06 am
>> all right first up today is faye's fashion friday. she is sharing her favorite things for gift giving this holiday season. you don't have to get up at the crack of dawn either to find one of these great gifts for your loved ones. >> that's right. hey faye, happy black friday. >> happy black friday. how was your thanksgiving? >> fantastic, always eat too much. >> yes. >> it's tradition. >> and nutritionists say use a salad plate instead of a full sized plate so can you go back for seconds, feel like you had to eat less. >> and did you do that? >> i tried. >> okay. >> doesn't always work. >> i did not. >> you got cool stuff, so these are your favorite things. >> these are faye's favorite things absolutely, and you know we have this annual tradition after thanksgiving. >> oh, yeah. >> the mitten give away. >> smitten with mittens and you're giving them away. >> i really like that. >> is that still going on? >> it starts today and you get
9:07 am
>> okay. >> whoa. >> that's huge. >> and then you join our text club and you get a free pair of mittens. >> that's right. >> it's really fun at our place. >> that is really fun. >> that goes through sunday. >> okay. >> that's cool. okay, so you are just giving stuff away. [laughter] >> well, let's not put it that way, but -- >> you're so generous. how about that? >> exactly, yeah. >> what else makes great gifts this season? >> my favorite things --. where to start, ii don't know. swell bottles. >> yeah, let's start there. >> what makes these so great? >> ok, the swell bottles, first of all, there are the true swell bottles. there is a lot of swell inspired out there, but they are not the same. these keep things hot for 12 hours. they keep things cold for 24 hours and the larger size will hold an entire bottle of wine. >> no way. >> way. >> is this a large size here? >> this is large size over here. you got one over there. >> you see how those, this is the middle size. look how cool this one is. i don't know if you can see that. >> i love that one. >> isn't that neat?
9:08 am
really across all ages. >> this is the whole bottle of wine right here. >> you cannot buy a swell bottle without buying the brush. >> got to have the brush. >> got to be able to clean it. >> i'm going to upsell you to the brush. >> you need the brush. >> there's no other way. >> you know what, otherwise you end up putting water in it and you just do this, and it does not get it clean all the way. >> it does not get it clean you need the brush, absolutely. >> so moving right along. >> those are nice. >> i know the two of we you really like these and why would you not like them. >> it's like fur, it's so soft. >> this is real fur, and then we have leather on the back. then we've got the tassel which of course is like the hottest detail. >> you have every trend there. >> isn't this the cutest thing though? >> what kind of fur is it rabbit? >> i think this is probably rabbit. >> okay, they don't kill rabbits when they make those. i just want to say that. >> you always make that point which is a really good point. >> you just like shave them. >> just shave them. >> yeah. >> this is shaved rabbit.
9:09 am
>> there are other really pretty colors over there. >> i think the past tense of shade is shown, isn't it? >> no, shorn, shorn, snorn. >> it's not shaven? [laughter] >> we have devolved into a grammar lesson right now. [laughter] >> okay, but this is my favorite thing. maybe should have saved it until the last. >> this is hilarious. >> this is my favorite thing. th and you know, glamour girl you need to --. >> go work it. >> yeah, you need to work it. >> you are wearing black so it will show up right. >> are you ready for this? >> this is amazing. >> um-huh-um-um-um. >> absolutely positively love love, love this bag. >> we got music, you can go now. >> check it out. >> can we see it? >> you got to back up into the light i think. >> oh, we have to get a spotlight on that. [laughter] >> that's just the best. [laughter] >> and it's $129 and it is worth
9:10 am
>> see, i could not demo it like that, could you? >> i couldn't either. >> i could not even get close. >> i don't know what happened just blacked out a little bit. [laughter] >> the producer is like it's too dark, we can't see it. i'm like who cares. did you see her do that that was funny. [laughter] >> it's so gorgeous the color. you have those in -- that's the cool color in that, but you have them in more, you know. >> more subtle. bag. i mean, it's real fur, and then it's got this long cross body super cool stuff. >> it's roomy. >> it's roomy inside and the thing that is so neat about it it would look great i think with jeans, but you could totally dress, you could wear this for a dressy night out. >> i always like to talk about the fact if you are working all day long, but then you have a holiday party at night no matter what you have on, if you put this cross body bag on you are ready to party. i mean really. >> look at this black one.
9:11 am
when you put that bag on. >> it's like you don't even know what happens to you. you go into another world. >> you black out. [laughter] >> okay. all right. >> so i've got these cool bracelets on faye, what do you want to say about all of the beautiful colors here? >> these are all handmade by the designer melissa rovner. they all have different charms on them. some are religious icons, some of them are just spiritual some are things like hearts. and you know you're just sort of drawn to these, and we can always change if you like a certain color, byo charm on another bracelet we can change them. again they are called the blessing bracelets,so you kind of wear a blessing. they are $99. people, really, it's quite amazing to me that people really collect these. they just love them. i know, tiffany, gave your mother one. >> with st. jude on it, uhhuh. >> the patron saint of hopeless causes. >> yes, absolutely. it's our favorite saint, though. it's is, i love saint jude. it's the one saint i always pray to. >> um, there is some yummy jammies here, too. >> i knew you would like these molly, because you're always kind of about the comfort kind of thing. >> yup. >> i'm about fashion, faye

[laughter] >> i don't think i even need to be on these segments anymore. we'll just turn them over to tiffany. tiffany's top fashion tips. >> exactly. exactly. >> we love the jammies. and they are $99. >> look how yummy these are. >> really great gift. and we gift wrap everything too. that's the other thing about faye's, our gift wrapping without parallel. >> they are $99 so you spend another buck, you get $50 off. >> that's right. but then you can buy five pair, that's the idea, molly. see that's the idea. >> oh, okay. [laughter]. >> certainly last, but not least, we also love these little free people socks. these are great -- i find that teenagers like these are great grandmother gifts, granddaughter gifts from grandmothers, so these are really fun. >> i actually have a bunch of those and i put them at the door for company when they come.

great to see you and happy holidays. >> thank you. happy holidays to you, too. >> happy shopping. >> thank you. >> we live in wisconsin, winter is inevitable. up next we have important driving skills to review and tips to teach your teen how to navigate in all kinds of winter weather. if you have a topic you would like us to talk about on the show, email us, send your ideas
9:33 am
9:34 am
9:35 am
>> winter weather is of course inevitable, so it's important to review and prepare to get behind the wheel during snow, freezing rain and fog to name just a few. >> that's right. anne scallon is back from before the wheel to get us and our teen drivers ready for winter driving. good to see you. >> thank you, great to see both of you. >> always such an important information you know when we start talking about changes of weather, i always think the first signs of wt always get you know, nervous in new weather. what kind of steps should parents be taking, especially for teens preparing them for winter weather? >> i think one of the first things is to just kind of three words that i put together -- focused, informed and flexible. > uhhuh. >> so when are you going out driving as we talked about, you always need to be focused. so avoid any of the distractions.
9:36 am
wisconsin. so you can go out one morning and it's bright and the skies are clear, you need to know what is going to be happening at noon and your drive time home and all hose things. then flexible. if you do some planning in advance, you can take care of some errands so you are not waiting the last minute before the holidays or something like that. >> good idea. >> you always suggest you know the maintenance of the vehicle as being, you know, kind of should be a top priority. so, certainly your brakes have got to be good. the vehicle and have those things checked so you know what kind of condition your vehicle is in, so that includes everything from tires, wipers and fluids, super important especially as get to winter. making sure the oil has been changed. the belts and hoses need to be checked and the battery needs to be good. >> exactly. i would call whoever your repair service is and tell them to do a winterize with the vehicle. this isn't something that is 100% in our control. if somebody pulls into your
9:37 am
who is distracted, you can't control that, but this is 100% in our control, to get our vehicle winterized well in advance. >> i just did that myself, i know just rotating the wheels is so important too. gas tank, i'm horrible at this. in the winter you have to keep it how full? >> at least half. [laughter] >> i have heard it a million times, i don't always do it. i need to make sure, we all do because it's so important when temperatures get really low, to have enough gas in there to work your vehicle. especially if y the ditch and need to stay warm or something like that. focused driving, you mentioned really talking about that. practicing, step number three with your teen. what does it mean to practice? >> i always say you know if you can find a parking lot that is pretty empty, one of those first few days that it gets really slippery, and as tiffany mentioned people get scared so they kind of overreact sometimes on those first few days. what you want to do is get out there and just have them do all sorts of maneuvers with braking and turning and speeding up and slowing down.
9:38 am
