pasco county daycare worker is charged with child abuse accused of throwing water in the face of a 3-year-old boy with autism. tiffany little worked at the school in lutz. the boy who was described as nonverbal started to cry and had to be soothed by another daycare worker. an investigation is underway today after a motorcyclist and deputy collided in st. petersburg. the deputy was pulling an unmarked car out of the parking lot at martin luther king street north and 52nd avenue north. the motorcyclist was taken to the hospital with life- threatening injuries. the pentagon says ten u.s. sailors held in iran are safe and in american care this afternoon. there is no indication they were harmed. a few hours secretary of state

it says they are a u.s.a. powerball syndicate. it sounds great but it is a total sham. we got a behind-the-scenes look at the security in tallahassee where the drawing is held. it is held in an underground vault where the balls are weighed and x-rayed. in florida alone people are spending $556 a second on powerball tickets. if all 20 million people in florida decided to go into a pool together we would each get $75. if everyone across the country decided to split the winnings, we would all get $4. they are on high alert in flint, michigan after their

10 news reporter grayson kamm is looking at how the huge change could transform our city and our lives. >> reporter: this conversation blew me away with a look at where the natural next steps when we take our hands off the wheel and let computers do the driving. paul simon is the leader for the florida department of transportation in tampa bay. it is his job to look at things that are big for the future. >> the trend we'll see is people won't buy as many cars and you'll use services to pick you up and drop you off. effective. >> reporter: because of that your driveway could disappear. so could parking lots and garages. freight and packages could all move at night making roads less crowded for you. as driverless cars become more common crashes and deaths should become more rare. simon says human error is a factor in 95% of crashes.

because it was a cold start to the day. >> it is warming up a little bit. it is on a chilly side though. not our typical tampa bay weather we have had over the past month or so. at least temperatures are out of the 40s and into the 60s in many locations. you can see mostly cloudy skies. time to time we'll see a peek of sunshine. it is filtered with the mid and high level clouds. cloudiness keeping us from having one of those picture perfect days. but it did help temperatures stay above freezing. that's why, as of 2:00 this morning, the frost and freeze advisories were allowed to expire. right now temperatures in the upper 50s and 60s. 59 carrollwood. 59 tampa. 60 apollo beach. we have high pressure to the north. clockwise flow giving us winds today generally out of the north northeast. you can see all of the cloudiness streaming across the gulf of mexico.

streams back to the pacific. we are still going to be dealing with lots of clouds over the next few days. as we head into thursday night and friday that's when things really start to tank. more on that in a moment. take a look at these temperatures. if you feel cold in the tampa bay area you don't want to think about what it feels like in the northern tier. three degrees below zero in international falls, minnesota. it is nine degrees in minneapolis, paul and chicago checking in at ten degrees. high temperatures for the day warming into the 20s and 40s for most locations. it is warm across the south. brownsville, texas the only place that will be warmer than us today. tampa 63 degrees. mid 60s. these temperatures running five to seven degrees below average for this time of year. we'll see mostly cloudy skies. turning cool this evening but not quite as chilly as where we were yesterday at this time.

more on the mild side because again. the 50s. coast. that should do it. for the rest of today we'll see from the south. hour. a dry day today. most of thursday will be dry, as well. but i want to show you this incoming weather. this is thursday into friday. we are watching an area of low pressure developing in the gulf of mexico. it is going to push north and northeast. you can see well ahead of it we are looking at strong storms possible friday morning through friday midday. of course, the entire 10 weather team will be watching this. if it turns severe we'll alert you right away. seven-day forecast shows showers thursday night.
