[ horn ] it is a tampa bay tradition now in the books. hundreds of thousands of people take part in tampa's signature event, the gasparilla pirate event. tampa survived its 101st invasion of the pirates. many people took in the sights and drinking the booze. not only the sights and sounds from this year's parade but also some of the problems. >> reporter: a flotilla of fun. gasparilla's pirates once

we have a really neat photo gallery showing today's festivities on our website. go to wtsp.com. a moment ago, police released the number of arrests made in gasparilla. two people were charged for felony, 21 miss demean mores. there were pot related arrests, others for drink. one for hitting a police horse. and some for underage drinking. a police officer hurt trying to catch up to two armed robbery suspects. the officer was following the suspects in a shooting and car jagging when the officer pole. this happened tonight in the area of east lake avenue and central avenue. hospital. he is expected to be okay. the people he was chasing ended

police believe that the cars were used in three crimes. and saying good-bye to one of the with a walendez high wire act. he was paralyzed 54 years ago today he died last april. today, his family buried his remains in manatee county on the anniversary of the accident. >> he was an inspiration to me when i fell from the high wire. two times, it , i fecialtion and i was broken up very bad. and i looked at uncle mario. he was in a wheelchair h . he did not get better, but he was determined. >> he rode his wheelchair, if you can imagine, that across a

many are private sales between individuals. that's what will be banned. that's a policy change sought by groups like moms demands action for guns in america for at least two years. >> in this cakes clearly, by saying that they will not sanction the sale of guns without any kind of back ground check through private transactions on their social media platforms, they are truly setting a precedent that we hope that other business also follow as well. >> but some gun sales group members were not happy. one posting, there is nothing wrong with what our group does as long as we use good common sense to sell firearms. we as legal firearms owners should be allow to partser as is our constitution right a move by the military to become more family friendly by covering the cost of fertility services as part of the department of defense's force of the future initiative since

really seeing our weather. yeah, i know i had some friends in town from california just for gasparilla. worked out nicely today. was not too hot or too cold. that's certainly not a guarantee. glad that turned out to be a nice one. this is what it looked like this morning from clearwater beach. let's put this into motion for you. at times, we saw mostly sunny skies and at times, turned to mostly cloudy skies. we did see a lot of folks out there out and about, enjoying our beautiful golf. let's go ahead and take a look at current temperatures now. it's cool in crystal river. 49 in brookville, 52 in harrowwood. let's go ahead and put this forecast, about 12 hours. you can see low tells will be about 52 degrees. not quite as chilly as where we started this morning.

see high pressure to our north and to our northeast. clockwise flow around that area of high pressure giving us surface winds out of the east and southeast on sunday, just like we saw today, but out of the south and -- the north and northwest for the upper levels. that's why these high level clouds have been streaming across the area and will continue that throughout the day tomorrow. so not purely sunny conditions but still a pretty nice day. look at the difference between temperatures right now. it is very might. oklahoma city sitting at 61 degrees. 62 degrees right now in little rock, arkansas. but just to the north, we have 20s and 30s across portions of nebraska, colorado. so here is the surface set up across the united states. that little area of low pressure bringing some snow to colorado and to nebraska. now as we put this into motion, what's going to happen is that this area of low pressure sitting off the coast of southern california, that is going to move to the east and

will work into our region but not until later on in the workweek. in the mean time, it will bring lots of rain to southern california and snow to nevada, utah and colorado. this low, we'll be watching over the next few days. that will bring a cool front through our area. chilly on the coast. 45 degrees in brooksfelt. more mild temperatures across the bay area. 52 sarasota and bradenton checking in at 522. 49 degrees in lakeland and in bar tow. if you are heading out the door to play golf, grab a jacket or sweater. as we head into the 11:00 hour, warming up nicely to a temperature of 67 degrees. bit afternoon, warmer, yes, 71. winds out of the south, southeast at 6:00. more moisture working in,
