i'm allison kropff. thanks for joining us. we are just learning new details about president obama's trip to cuba. he will be there good afternoon. i'm allison kropff. we are just learning details act president obama's trip to cuba. he will be there two days march 21, 22. the president has been tweeting about his trip all morning long writing we have differences with the cuban government that i will raise directly.

human rights around the world. he is the first president in 90 years to visit the island. 10 news reporter sarah hollenbeck shows us he won't be the only one. >> reporter: you could be jumping on a flight to cuba, as well. right now these are only charter flights from tia. soon, all of your commercial airlines like delta will be flying there, too. 110 u.s. to cuba flights are being offered a day. all airlines are bidding on them. last year 74,000 people traveled from tampa to cuba. i'm digging deeper to find out how the coming up election could change our relationship with cuba. republican presidential canidates marco rubio and ted cruz have cuban roots and vowed to cut diplomatic ties with cuba if elected.

having their entire lives ruined over a small amount of a plant. >> if the ordinance gets support from the city it could become law in a few months. tampa city council decided not to make a decision about the proposed ordinance until hillsborough county passes a similar one. homeowners want county members to do thing about the 800 sex offender off nebraska avenue in ybor. they want to force sexual predators to live 1,000 feet from police stations, fire stations and other safe havens. >> my concern is that the city, if the city creates its own ordinance that will only go into effect going forward there by making ybor a penal colony. there has been a lack of enforcement of anti-clustering ordinances since 2008. >> city council hopes to take up the issue next week.

leaving the scene of the accident. police caught up with the teenager after she crashed a van into a brick ball in pinellas park. police gave us these pictures of the van and the damage to the wall. it started at 11:00 when an officer saw somebody running a red light. the officer turned on his emergency lights. she did not stop. the officer found the 13-year- old and arrested her not far from the crash scene. a man was caught breaking into a charity. he told sarasota police he had been doing it a month and a half to feed his crack habit. officers found the 48-year-old. he was hurt from kicking in a roof window. on his way to the hospital he told the paramedic he was looking for money for crack and

sarasota police are claims. a full scale emergency minutes ago. if you live or drive around the area and you noticed this commotion it was just an exercise. more than 150 people took part. police, fire and other agencies from around the county responded to a scenario where an airline is forced to land airport. >> we appreciate all the different agencies that are participating today to help us be better. we want to run the safest facility possible. this helps us do that. >> 15 agencies took part in that exercise. faa requires airports to conduct a full scale exercise every three years to be emergency. this morning a good samaritan who found a missing 82-year-old man was honored.

that's all it takes. >> clearwater's police chief prevented danny johnson a good samaritan award for doing that. he works at the abbememorial park. last month he found bob taylor in the cemetery. he had walked away his assisted living facility. he was reported missing the day before and was outside on one of the coldest nights in the air. >> he was laying in a wooded area. his hood was over his head. he was shaking. he could talk. i found out who he was and where he lived. he wasn't able to move. he had been there all night. >> taylor was treated at country side hospital and is back at home. you or your neighbor could be the next millionaire. last night's winning lotto

there is an event coming up march 5th called the trashy treasures art sale. before that happens you need help from the public. >> until february 28th we'll be collecting everyone's loved treasures of art and art supplies so we can turn them over and have the best garage sale you'll ever see. >> so you have folks that go through their closets, attics and maybe see something on their walls they are tired of and they donate it to you. >> that's right. some are incredible finds. it goes everyone from the sublime, which we have had some real treasures and to the ridiculous. it all ends up going. you know the saying, one person's trash is another's treasure.

>> it has to be really fun to poke through this stuff. >> on the evening of the 4th we have the best of the trashy. some of the more select items are available and it is a party with music and all things. saturday event from 10:00 to 2:00 is a garage sale format. it is priced to sell. everything clears out from wall to wall. >> this is the thing people line up for. >> we will have somewhere between 100 to 200 people lined up at 2:00 a.m. saturday morning. it is incredible the intensity that shoppers bring to this experience. i think people have made it a tradition of their own. if they are an artist they can

hall looking beautiful. a breeze at times along the water. very, very comfortable. 70 in carrollwood. clearwater is 71. same thing in sarasota. 73 bradenton. 68 polk city and lakeland. a cooler 66 degrees in crystal river. comfortable with sunshine for everyone. northeast winds is why we'll warm up this afternoon. sun shining down on this land here. that heats up and the air gets blown back our way. the winds have come down. they were 15 miles per hour at times a long the coast. we keep them in the 10 knot range for boaters through the afternoon. clouds, we have a few over off of the east coast until you get towards west palm. these will flow on shore the next couple of days. friday, saturday and sunday we'll get some to come over. most will be over polk county and fall apart towards our beaches. that's it. there will be a couple

for us it is dry and warm. temperatures at or slightly above 73 degrees. that takes us through the weekend. north easterly winds will turn east over the next couple days. that brings the dew point up. you may feel more humidity in. this afternoon 72 to 75 inland. lower 60s later this evening. after midnight we are in the 50s. tomorrow morning we'll be in the low 50s with upper 40s in the cool spots. it is another beautiful day. mid 70s with sunshine. there are some of the clouds trying to make it over into polk county for saturday. same set up on sunday. it is an easterly wind.

sunny to partly sunny each afternoon. that's it. we'll stay dry all the way through. the colder air in the northeast is lifting out. syracuse in the double-digits. they were in the single digits this morning. here comes another hot by monday. if you are traveling to the northeast they'll warm up this weekend. then it comes back down for monday. we keep the warm air across the deep south until wednesday into thursday. that's when we'll get a taste of this coming southward. that will knock temperatures back into the 60s for highs. 73 is where we should be. almost there today. certainly there friday, saturday and sunday. sunday and monday we'll see spots close to 80. we'll definitely see it inland east of i-75. closer to the water we'll get that warm. tuesday into wednesday we have showers and thunderstorms. could be some good thunderstorms for tuesday evening. we'll track that closely for you and let you know if there is any severe weather threat. we'll alert you on air and

touched on many issues. today on tampa bay today they talked about combating bullying and making a difference. >> as a kid growing up there was a time where i got overweight. in school that played a big factor into why i was picked on and bullied. knowing what i went through when i was growing up and how it affected me, there are so many other kids that go through the same thing. it affects them so much differently. >> aaron's event is a celebrity poker tournament set this at derby lane. this is a lesson on giving back to their community. >> the students at tampa preparatory school are volunteering with meals on wheels to prepare and deliver meals to seniors and others not able to leave their home. we caught up with them this morning.

today on different routes. >> it makes me feel grateful that i have this opportunity to go with my fellow classmates and help other people in community that need the help. it is a really good feeling. >> if you are interested for volunteering we have a link at wtsp.com. what a special day. not just for the people they are delivering meals to but for the kids. >> the lesson they will take with them through their lifetime. if you have kids, i suggest you try to get them into something like that. recipients normally have their friends coming by and dropping off food. to see younger guys come by and talk to them. >> they get to spend that time with them. it is half of it. it is a big part of it. it is a beautiful afternoon if you are out and about today. >> i have been putting my feet up on the desk making sure i don't scratch the desk it is so nice. it will stay that way through the weekend into monday. overnight lows will come up a little bit. still cool in the morning hours.
