a felon with a long rap sheet is off the streets right now. he's sitting in a jail cell where he will likely stay for a very long time. david ross' crimes-- dates back more than 2 decades. it includes forgery, battery on a law enforcement officer, theft and domestic violence. ross escaped from a work detail near mosaic park in bartow before he was finally spotted by law enforcement in pinellas county off 54th avenue north. 10news reporter

found themselves caught in the middle of a massive manhunt. 00-08 coral way pinellas county 39- 46 marsha fischer witness 106-127 beau zimmer pinellas county 58:41 pointing their guns at him telling him hold still hold still. marsha fischer arriving home to catch the tail end of an all out manhunt in the middle of her neighborhood. pinellas deputies finally catching up to 42-year-old david ross. the state prisoner who escaped from a work detail in polk county earlier in the day. investigators say ross used an improvised sharp object. to abduct the supervising corrections into a county work truck. then driving away. hours later, deputies in pinellas stopped the stolen vehicle. near kenneth city. ross this time trying to escape on foot. before being taken down. 55:31 it took them a while and there were about five of them and he finally held still. and they cuffed him and away they went. state corrections officer jeffrey rexrode. was found a short time later. uninjured... after he managed to escape at a nearby gas station.

scheduled for release in 2019. he's now back in custody. facing a whole new set of charges. and likely a much longer sentence. and those new charges include unlawful possession of a handcuff key, driving with a suspended license, and resisting arrest ross is currently being held here at the pinellas county jail. where i'm told he'll have to appear on those new charges before he is transferred back to state custody. in pinellas county, beau zimmer, 10news wtsp. a 9-year-old girl and her mother held at gunpoint! you can see two armed, hooded men enter this dollar general in marion county. next you see a young girl run across the screen .. and her mother follows pushing a shopping cart. they were both ordered to the ground by the suspects, as the pair robbed the store. two news cases of zika and both in miami-dade county. neither of these cases are travel- related. this comes as the c-d-c is urging all pregnant women

miami-dade is the only area in the continental u-s where mosquitoes have been continuously spreading the virus since the summer. whether you have symptoms -- pregnant women who have either lived in or visited the area since august first -- need to get tested! zika is mainly spread by mosquitoes. infection during pregnancy can lead to severe birth defects. it's not looking good for wells fargo. new this morning...california 's attorney general is now investigating the bank. they've launched a criminal investigation over bank opened millions of bogus accounts. according to a search warrant the state's d-o-j is demanding names of employees involved in the accounts scandal...along with other information. the bank could face felony charges of impersonation...and improperly using personal information. ever feel like your cell phone just isn't running at top speed? or like you aren't getting what you paid for? well -- it's not your imagination! in fact, one provider's getting fined millions. 10 news reporter courtney robinson shows you
