"10news at noon" starts right now. >> good afternoon. thank you for joining us. a pinellas deputy who was arrested and charged with grand theft and dug possession last week is speaking -- drug possession last week is speaking out for the first time. deputy stephen smith says he is innocent. for four years he was considered a things went downhill after an ex-girlfriend told investigators he was using prescription drugs. his attorney says smith was targeted when he spoke out against policy within the department. >> we believe that the charges were motivated because my client was a whistleblower. >> i need to get my name back. that's the most important thing into my life right now. who i am. who i am as a man. who i am as a father. who i was as a deputy. >> he was fired for drug possession last week.

last night people continued to work on it throughout the evening. this is something that was meant to stay at pulse for as long as people want it, but it could also travel the country and world as a symbol. the artist created the mural not only because of what happened on this site, but also because of the community response. 49 people were killed and 53 others hurt when a gunman opened fire inside that club in june. tampa electric crews are working and heading on their way to the bahamas. they are going to help out folks who have power for the last couple weeks. two dozen linemen headed to south florida and they are set to arrive in the -- bahamas over the next couple of hours. what they are going to be doing once they arrive. will get back to you. the nfl is reopening an investigation this afternoon into a player who is accused of beating his wife. this was a story that was very viral throughout the day yesterday. giants kicker josh brown will not join his team this weekend to play the l.a. rams in london. that's after his wife claimed that he beat her more than 20 times. a lot of people are upset the giants signed him to a deal even after hearing of these allegations. brown admitted to abusive behavior saying it was because he was molested as a boy. it experience for students at plant high school in south tampa. they learned firsthand how dangerous texting and driving can be. you can see they are using a virtual reality simulator inside the driver's ed classroom. many students cried hearing a port richey father talk about his father killed by a texting driver. >> after i do my presentation, a lot of the kids come up and

recovering from a rattlesnake bite to the leg. two out of three victims were boys in these bites. the average age was ten and a half to 11 years old. it's stressful enough having a baby under normal conditions, but what if you have the worry hospital bed rest and a likely premature delivery? a local group counters all that worry with a dose of hope. >> reporter: joining me are bailey nicholas and kate desantos. they are from high- coming up. first, kate, tell us a little bit about high-risk hope. what do you do? >> sure. our mission is to provide support to families that have women on high-risk bed rest in the hospital and also to families that have babies that are in neonatal intensive care. we are serving st. joseph's hospital, sarasota memorial hospital. >> you had a preemie daughter,

be, and what kind of services do you provide the families? >> we do two different things. first we serve the high-risk side by engaging a group of volunteers like myself who have been through this journey and come out the other side with a healthy baby. and so they bring a care package to these moms, and the care package has everything into it they need to survive their stay, and it also has a gift of hope that the they sometimes bring pictures of their high-risk baby. they share their story and their experience, and it helps those parents that are still in the scary situation know that they are going to be okay. on the nicu side, it's similar. we also have a team of volunteers that bring care packages with essentials. but we also try to arm those parents with information. information is power. >> reporter: that's wonderful.

a lot of volunteers, bailey, but, you know, it takes money to make these organizations run. you have a to the trot coming up on november 12. this is a fun day, right? >> it is. it's a lot of fun. it's a family-friendly 3k event near mack dill air force base between st. pete and tampa. we have a lot of our families that have received our services in the hospital come out to the to the trot. it's really fun to see our v.i.p.es they each get a cape to wear. we have the centerpiece of the to the trot is our wall of hope, and we have over 70 babies this year featured on our wall of hope and have pictures from when they were in the nicu from now. it's fun to see them find their

anything like that, you're in good shape. ladies, as far as putting your hair up as opposed to letting it go crazy because it will be breezy, that might come in handy. look at downtown tampa right now. not a cloud in the sky. we don't expect much of a change. as we head through the afternoon there may be a few high clouds, but overall we are in great shape. we are a little warm, but i don't think these temperatures are gonna climb much more. 84 in tampa. 80 degrees st. pete. also 84 clearwater. and we still got some 70s the mix. as the winds pick up, it's gonna suppress those temperatures from climbing much more. so we see a lot of low-to-mid 80s around the bay area. they are not gonna deviate much from where we are right now. we will heat up to 85 today in tampa. but notice the cloud cover we saw this morning, that's all gone. if you were east of i-75 and north of i-4 you probably saw a little fog this morning. obviously, we are problem free right now and we are not anticipating even rain chances with this front, although a

winds. it's not gonna be a big shift in the wind direction that you will notice. you will almost immediately feel that drier air coming in, and we are really going to enjoy it this time. can't break down the rain chances completely, but only about a 10% chance of seeing a few sprinkles. there is that front coming through. about 8, 9:00 tonight that's gonna move through the tampa bay area. that's when you should expect to see an increase in our cloud cover. around dinnertime for the nature coast. that's where we wille chances for showers, but they are minimal and they will not be much more than sprinkles. head inside for ten or 15 minutes to wait it out. and then by midnight tonight that front is completely through our area and you can just watch it come through on this map. so 8, 9:00 on the doorstep of tampa bay and then all that dry air comes in and we see dew points that are down in the 40s tomorrow. 50s feel nice. 40s feel absolutely amazing.

through the evening. notice how 8, 9:00 they are starting to fall. you're gonna notice a bit of a difference for our inland counties first and along the coast since the gulf moderates temperatures just a little bit. but overnight tonight look at tomorrow morning. we are going to see low 60s across the area. temperatures rebound but only into the mid-to-upper 70s and then sasarday night into sunday morning look at this cooldown. we are expecting 50s area wide. even some low 50s, flirting with upper 40s for paof nature coast. a little dose of fall with an overnight low of 62 degrees in tampa. it's going to feel really nice. a little bit on the breezy side. we warm up into the upper 70s to 80 degrees this weekend. sup morning that crisp cool fall start with the temperatures again down in the 50s. we are looking great. and we hold that trend into early next week. looks like monday morning around 60 degrees as well. but we start heating up a little bit more during the afternoon and by wednesday that
