in north dakota as police shoot down a demonstrators drone and arrest more than a hundred protesters. good morning from the studio 57 newsroom at cbs news headquarters here in new york. good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. hillary clinton is paying more attention to electing demos senate. even long time republican strongholds within reach of clinton. while clinton holds a three-point lead over trump in florida. roxana saberi is here in new york. >> trump's campaign manager conceded on sunday the nominee isn't doing as well as hope.

her recent surge with a big push in the south. >> hillary clinton crisscrossed north carolina sunday appearing alongside mothers of the movement in raleigh and blasting donald trump at a rally in charlotte. >> he refused to say that he would respect the results of our election. some people are just sore losers and we have to keep going. >> reporter: stumping for clinton in las vegas president obama criticized republicans for backing the gop nominee. >> when you get him on tape bragging with sexual assault and his poll numbers go down, suddenly, that's a deal-breaker. what took you so long? >> reporter: recent polls show a number of political states slumping away from trump including texas. the latest cbs news ballot ground tracker shows trump leading clinton by only three points in the state.

susan page, washington bureau ceo of "usa today." a deadly bus crash in california. thirteen people were killed and 31 others were injured. the accident happened early sunday north north of palm streams, east of los angeles. the bus was returning from a casino. a maintenance crew had slowed traffic on the interstate just before the crash. bus and a tractor trail. the bus plowed into the back of the truck very early sunday morning. >> in almost 35 years, i've never been to a crash where there is 13 confirmed fatal accidents so it's tough. >> reporter: most of the passengers were sleeping.

about 15 feet into on the bus, so you can see that it was a substantial impact. the bus was traveling significantly factor than the tractor trail it struck from behind. >> reporter: the bus driver were killed and 13 were killed. >> most of the victims were unrestrained and flown through the air and ended up facing facial trauma. >> reporter: police say bus was inspected earlier this year. >> and no mechanical deficiencies were noted. >> reporter: federal records show the bus company involved owned one bus and had one driver. at&t's proposed takeover of time warner immediately raised regulatory concerns. the senate subcommittee on anti-trust scheduled hearings next month and politicians on both sides of the aisle are

as jamie yuccas explains, voting early is the last thing on people's mind as they struggle to rebuild after hurricane matthew. >> like, i don't have anything. >> reporter: it's been almost a month since hurricane matthew barreled down on north carolina. but towns like fairmont, are still feeling the effects. alice mcnair's home is flooded out and. >> i'm doing the best i can to keep my head above the water and praying that the me restore everything that i lost. >> reporter: mcnair and her family are now crammed into one home but they are some of the lucky ones. close to a thousand are still being housed in emergency shelters and others are lining up for food instead of lining up for voting ballots. more than 550,000 registered voters live in the six north carolina counties where almost a
