new hampshire. both candidates have just about two weeks left now to campaign. >> what happens with the dust settles and our next president is declared? that is tonight's big story. there has been so much division that you might even be wondering what it would take to bring the country back together. >> eric glasser is asking people on the political front lines what they think, if anything, might help. >> reporter: with so much division, we asked people on the front line campaigning this if anything, it will take to heal come november 9th. >> might not like who wins, but this is who you have to support. >> reporter: conceding that is highly unlikely, others recommended a sort of political ceasefire. >> national day of respect. the day afterwards. >> you know, invoke a day of just love and acceptance of everybody. >> reporter: to work together, some suggest starting with what you have in common. >> there is like an underlying kind of this is what we should be doing as good people.

suspects who opened fire on a police officer. and get this. there was a woman riding along in the passenger's seat. these bullets just missed her. ben tracy shows us how the violent attack played out north of fresno, california. >> a white mazda. >> reporter: early sunday morning a madeira police officer pulls over a mazda suv for pa minor traffic violation -- for a minor traffic ol passenger's seat a female civilian taking part in a ride- along. >> we try and teach the citizens of our town and the community what law enforcement is. we want to give them the full gamut and scope of what the job entails, and she was doing one of those ride-alongs. >> reporter: the car takes off. the officer turns on his sirens and pursues. moments later the civilian passenger notices something

[ gunfire ] >> reporter: around a dozen shots were fired. two bullets pierced through the front windshield, narrowly missing the woman on the ride- along, who is noticeably shaken. >> [ sobbing ] >> you okay? >> reporter: the officer ended the chase after his patrol car was disabled. the suspect's vehicle was found abandoned with an ar-15 pistol nearby. madeira lieutenant. >> the round that went through the top of the window actually got lodged just left of the headrest as the passenger would be sitting. >> reporter: the names of the officer who was in just his second week working alone and the civilian involved have not been released. the police are still searching for the suspects. >> wow, that gives me chills. you know shall the woman that was riding along with the

she was hit by broken glass. i mean, can you even imagine? she is expected to be okay. the rookie officer was not hurt, but had to get a psychological evaluation. jared fogle's ex-wife is suing subway. she says the fast food chain knew about his sexual interest in children and continued to promote him despite multiple allegations. according to the documents, on at least thre occasions sub -- thre anything to law enforcement. she says she is devastated that her ex-husband visited hundreds of schools to talk to children as part of subway's campaign. >> subway even took the step of marketing him as a family man and used my children and my likeness in that campaign. i did not give them consent to do so. >> now, that is why she is suing subway.

control. typically, high pressure means nice stable conditions. so that sinking air is not there to create rain. that will be with us throughout the work week and weekend, too. we have a cold front across the southeastern united states. this will not make its way into the tampa bay area because of this average of high pressure and clockwise flow around that area of high pressure will continue to keep an east- northeast flow around the area as we head now, around the nation here's the cold front there. out west we have a potent area of low pressure spinning. there you can see off the pacific northwest and that's gonna usher in some moisture across the west coast of the united states. you can see where the frontal boundary is. we have warm temps across the south this evening. 82 degrees in dallas. 78 degrees oklahoma city. but it's pretty cool for folks
