"10news at noon" starts >> good afternoon. i am allison kropff. >> i'm ian reitz. right now an investigation is underway into a crash that killed two children and three adults. >> this story is just heartbreaking. fhp says a it 22-year-old driver, lost control, went into another lane and hit a minivan head on. inside a 39-year-old, a 9-year- old and a 10-year-old died in the crash.

both are in critical condition right now. fhp says pablo cortes iii was driving his volkswagen golf. these are photos from facebook. fhp says he was speeding when he lost control and hit that minivan. a passenger, a 19-year-old, from lithia, they died instantly. two other cars were involved. one of those drivers is in serious condition. the people in the fourth car were not hurt. there has been another case of an alleged drunk pilot stopped before he fly a plane. that pilot is now on administrative leave. kris van cleave shows you the pilot was stopped when tarpon springs officers thought they smelled alcohol on his breath. >> reporter: this flight landed in salt lake city two hours late. one of the passengers explains why. they had to call in a replacement pilot because our pilot was drunk. >> it was pretty unthinkable.

a.m. wednesday tsa officers noticed the pilot. 38-year-old russell duzak, smelled of alcohol. they called police who gave him a blood alcohol test indicating above the legal limit for pilots. .04%. another pilot was found to take his place. >> hopefully they come up with checks and balances instead of just a tsa officer smelling it on their breath. >> reporter: he was arrested, released on a $300 bond, and put on the rapid city police chief tweeted, the system worked the way it is designed to ensure passenger safety was not compromised. the faa says the number of so- called pilot alcohol violations is low. ten last year. 111 over the last decade. still passengers aboard this flight were concerned. >> i will be really anxious now when i get on a flight wondering, you know, where the co-pilot, pilot has been the

to their side of the bay. oldsmar hopes it will be in the running. the stadium could be built here across from tampa bay downs off of race track road. 10news reporter sarah hollenbeck talked with the mayor of oldsmar to find out why he is stepping up to the plate. >> reporter: the city of oldsmar thinks they have the perfect location, tampa bay downs right over there, and right across race track road. there is 120 acres of vacant property. and take a look at this map. this will give you a better idea. that's tampa bay downs that you for you. and then if i go full screen you can see this is hillsborough county. that's pinellas county. right there is tampa bay downs and where they want to build the stadium. the idea is if you put it here, you get fund interesting both counties. but some people argue that oldsmar is just way too far away. more than a half an hour's drive from downtown st. pete, 20 minutes to downtown tampa, and that doesn't account for traffic.

petersburg mayor rick christ man joked that oldsmar is like driving to georgia. but the mayor says it could be the perfect fit and he says the rays would be foolish to overlook his town. traffic is the other big concern, but mayor beavis says sundays fans come from all directions the cars would be dispersed. >> working with the psta to improve bus tranta something we would like to do. >> reporter: the rays insist they have not narrowed their list even though there are so many stadium sites, and that means that oldsmar is still in the running. those plans will be presented at 2:00 this afternoon. two strong earthquakes hit part of italy tuesday knocking out power and sending people panicking into the streets. it's the same place where an
