we got to the bottom of it. >> i would say most definitely, yes. >> reporter: many parents said they want to know. after two children at lake view elementary school in sarasota had confirmed cases of hand, foot, and mouth disease, a viral illness that spreads easily through coughing and sneezing. >> i could have kept my kids home from school or at least been a little bit better informed. >> reporter: the that's not the policy. they were notified by the children's parents and then the school alerted teachers, but not other parents. the reason? says hand, foot, and mouth disease is not a virus that needs to be reported to parents according to the florida department of health. >> i think that that's probably something that needs to be looked into. >> reporter: we checked and the health department has this list of diseases to be reported. the mumps and chicken pox. in those cases they would consider sending out a letter.

for some parents who think whether an illness is on the list or not, they should still be notified. >> i don't think keeping the parents uninformed about such a serious disease or infection is wise. >> reporter: in sarasota, jennifer titus, 10news wtsp. >> now, the sarasota school district also made it clear those two cases were isolated. now, we checked health policies in other districts. pinellas and pasco county say if there was an outbreak as in two notify the health department and letters might be sent home. the state health department has their own rules for reporting diseases. we posted a list of those conditions on wtsp.com and on our 10news app. okay. we are on top of some breaking news. a traffic death investigation is underway as we speak in hillsborough county. the case still developing, but here is what we know as of

intersection of 19th avenue northeast and 30th street northeast in ruskin. this was at about 3:00 this afternoon. now, they have learned the motorcyclist was involved in some kind of argument with the driver of a blue truck not too far away from there. detectives want to speak to that truck driver to piece together what's happened. meantime, keep in mind, drivers, 19th avenue is closed in both directions. we are getting a good look tonight at video from inside a car before the driver crashed into a van killing two of her children. that video shows just how fast the car was going just minutes before. take a look. there you see it right across the center. a snapchat video taken from the passenger in that car showed them going 115 miles an hour down mlk boulevard in tampa. the florida highway patrol gave this video to us.

the belief speed played a role in the crash. snapchat is an app that essentially lets you take video and add filters on top of them. one of those lets you record the speed you're going while you are recording. in this example right here you can see 1.9 miles an hour, that is a far cry from 115 miles an hour from the video in wednesday's crash. troopers say that 9-year-old john bernal, 10-year- old burnell and their mother marianella murillo. the passenger and driver in the other car also died. snapchat said in the past that no snap is more important than someone's safety. they have also said that a snap and driving warning is built into the app. it's always hot on the web. overdue homecomings and soldier surprises.
