happening. i thought i was being mugged, actually, because i had $500 in my hand. i was just -- i didn't know what was going on. i had no idea. >> reporter: it turned out she was being arrested for shoplifting. you can see the security guard in this video on the bench. he said she stole flea medication worth $29. >> shameful. >> reporter: karl res attorney says this was an elaborate plan by his client. in this lawsuit the security tape shows the guard, who just started that day, dump something on the floor from a box and then seconds later accuse karl of stealing that item. >> i have never seen a case that i could think about where the bad guy in this case a walmart employee is actually caught on video planting the evidence. >> reporter: we reached out to both walmart and the state attorney's office.

the guard, who said he found the medication in karl's sleeve. walmart asked the state to prosecute and a jury found her not guilty in less than a minute. i talked to one juror on the phone who told me it seemed obvious the guard planted the evidence and he couldn't believe the state wasted time and money with this case. walmart issued this statement. >> this was an unfortunate event in a number of ways. we know how important it is to maintain a safe and secure environment for our customers and associates, and we continually evaluate and work to strengthen safety measures. that's why we invest in crime prevention methods and training in keeping our customers and

we are counting just. just seven days and six hours until election day. that is on tuesday, november 8th. now, tonight 10news political reporter mark rivera joins us live in clearwater. >> he is at an airport hangar where vice presidential candidate mike pence is about to arrive. >> reporter: yes. reggie, he hasn't landed yet, we understand, but now there are about a thousand people here. a little over that waiting to hear him speak. folks on the ground that i talked to arci what he has to say about the latest controversy involving the fbi investigation into hillary clinton's email server. take a look at the supporters. trump supporters here, they are saying that the -- they support fbi director comey announcing his agency is investigating more emails. the thing is those emails are not necessarily sent or even received by clinton. critics are saying comey is violate ago long standing justice department tradition

the driver. 10 investigates first told you they are the only local sheriff's office that flat out rejects using dash-mounted cameras. >> we can't reasonably afford cameras, number one, and number two, that somebody seems to ignore, and this is very important to me, is privacy rights. >> sheriff grady judd admits cameras might have been helpful in this case, but for those reasons he listed they aren't coming anytime soon. even without video footage, the department hopes they will be able to catch the driver quickly. >> certainly wish him the best. quick. think of a profession that you consider most trustworthy. firefighters might be at the top of the list. >> now though supporters of amendment 1, which has been criticized as being deceptively written, is using firefighters in their latest commercial.

firefighters support amendment 1. >> new tonight 10news reporter eric glasser takes a closer look at the solar panel safety concerns raised by the ad. >> in my job i see a lot of fires that could have been stopped before they started. >> reporter: the latest ad in favor of amendment 1 features a firefighter in full gear urging people to vote yes. >> for the health, safety, and welfare of florida's consumers and first. >> reporter: hillsborough county fire rescue position and describes florida professional firefighters as a non-profit lobbying association. >> as far as firefighters do, what does that have to do with charging people for solar power. >> reporter: we asked other fire departments if they thought that the solar panels posed a fire hazard. polk county, clearwater, the city of tampa and st. petersburg said they take no position. polk officials say they couldn't remember a fire related to solar panels in the

tampa said it couldn't recall one in a decade leaving some we spoke with to speculate. >> they are trying to use the trust factor of the firefighters. >> reporter: a recent report found solar panels properly installed don't start fires, but improperly installed, as the ad suggests, can be dangerous. >> the power company is eliminated. who is responsible? the firefighters themselves or the homeowner, and, you know, that's where if it's not installed properly, the firefighters are pug themselves at risk and in danger. >> reporter: adding firefighters to the amendment 1 debate could be an february it february -- effective way to restore credibility. a topic local fire departments seem reluctant to touch with a 10-foot fire pole. eric glasser, 10news wtsp. >> now, we reached out to the florida professional firefighters group to ask whether they have received any compensation for their endorsement of amendment 1. we

how about this? a man opens his sunday paper and finds an ad that he finds so controversial he posted it straight to social media. you can see it's from a gun store and it says last sale before election. 10news sarasota newsroom reporter isabel mascarenas takes a closer look why those four words got people fired up on social media. >> reporter: an anniversary sale isn't unusual. the shoot straight gun store in sarasota is having one for their 37th year in business. but four words in sunday ad have triggered a firestorm of comments. the anniversary ad says last sale before election. what does it mean to you? >> it's a simple comment. if trump gets in, the second amendment is safe. she's gonna try to take it away. it won't work. >> it's tasteless. i don't think it's tasteless.
